New York: Vice Presidential candidate Victor West has called for the military to take a more proactive approach in dealing with ascendant-related attacks on American soil at a campaign rally in New York City. Citing the recent raid on Glens Falls Army Base and the terrorist attack in Anglia, MA, that saw several police officers dead and dozens wounded, West says, "[It's] time to put all our options on the table - yes, including military force - to keep Americans safe from those ascendants out there, the ones out there who want to do them and this country harm." In an unusual campaign twist, General Tony Diaz of the Air Force has publicly supported West's proposal, stating that the incident in Massachusetts could have been ended sooner and with less loss of life if the Joint Chiefs had approved his plan to launch a surgical air strike on the site of the incident. President Milton's press staff refused to comment on Gen. Diaz's announcement.

DC: Concerned Hens of America has lodged a complaint with the FCC over comments made by Gamma Strike member Kuro Ikeda at the c0n 1 convention in Anglia, Massachusetts last month. Amateur footage of Ikeda yelling "I love shibari!" (a reference to Japanese rope bondage) to a cheering crowd went viral within hours, becoming an instant internet sensation. CHA spokesman George Kostas explained to CNN that the complaint is only being filed now because his members were initially unaware of the offending term's meaning. "I mean, he is actually telling young women and girls that they should tie themselves up for his amusement. One mother called me in tears, saying that after she looked the term up online, she then looked out her window and saw her eleven year old daughter playing with a skipping rope in her front yard for all her neighbours to see. I mean, eleven years old. Mr. Ikeda has some serious issues that he needs to work through here."

International News
Europe:
The small Aegean island nation of Thelos remains in the grip of a political crisis as its government continues to recover from the disappearance of its self-appointed monarch, an ascendant known as Azara. The tiny country was unexpectedly attacked by a paramilitary group of unknown origin earlier this year, who stormed the royal palace by helicopter and attacked the island's ruler himself. Monitors from the European Union have reported that the country's transition to a republican government is progressing smoothly, and report no instances of political violence to date.

South America:
Chilean doctors are struggling to make sense of a strange illness that has appeared in the northern region of Terapaca. First reports of the disease came when a Dutch research team brought an infected man down from an isolated Andean village. The researchers claim that the man's symptoms - fever, a heightened state of aggression and apparent shutdown of pain receptors - are a result of an alleged ascendant living in the mountains. Most doctors who have examined the patient have dismissed this theory, and believe the infection might be caused by bacteria in the villagers' water source.
