Europe:
Rumors still run rampant about the recent kidnapping of the long lost Andorran Princess, Rose de Castillo from a research institute in Anglia Massachusetts. Though her whereabouts were unknown until recently, the Princess was said to have been abducted by an ascendant tied to the Thelosian government, though nothing more than blurry photos and video exist of the actual abduction. In the wake of the incident, Andorran officials have refused to comment on the incident, saying only: "The Princess is now safe. Nothing else matters and we have no further comment." Andorran officials have also assured us that no charges will follow in the wake of the international scandal. Thelos has not yet released a statement about the recent disappearance of their ruler, believed to have occurred during an attempt to rescue Andorra's captured Princess.

Speculation runs wild as images of an alleged new military weapon captured in Moldavia by an amateur photographer circulate around the internet. The pictures show what appears to be a giant, spider-like machine being buried under rubble as an abandoned warehouse collapses around it. The provisional government of Trans-Dneister has denounced the photographs as an elaborate hoax.

In Russia, Mikhail Ignatiev of the National Party has won a landslide victory in the second-round presidential poll. International experts, who see Ignatiev as an extremely talented leader, welcome the outcome and hope he can bring much needed stability to the beleaguered country as its fifth president.

General Information
Full Name: Bernhard Longstreet
Codename: Waste Artist
Age: 30
Gender: Male

Profile
Nationality: Dutch-American
Affiliation: Nil.
Birthdate: August 15, 2006
Birthplace: Rahway, New Jersey
Relations: Marton (Father) Barbara (Mother); estranged
Physical Description: Bernhard stands 6’1” and is solidly built at 205 lbs. He is completely bald and possesses an olive complexion. Both of his ears are cauliflowered.

Bernhard occasionally takes to wearing a mustache, in which case he looks somewhat like a bald, muscled-up Tom Selleck.

Personality: Most people who know Bernhard would describe him as quiet, maybe even sheepish. He normally tries to avoid crowds and appears timid in social situations. Along with this, he becomes extraordinarily bashful when confronted with sexuality and in general just carries himself in a modest, slightly prudish manner.

Truth be told, at his core Bernhard possesses a very powerful Machiavellian disposition. Much of his perceived coyness is simply feigned. He’s willing to bide his time with the people who snicker at him under their breaths, just to assess their vulnerabilities. Bernhard’s only real priority is looking out for himself, his only goal in associating with these people being to take them for everything they have.

Capabilities
Skills: Bernhard is a skilled engineer and gifted inventor. With his talent, he’s been able to develop a variety of equipment for his personal use (Such as full Kevlar bodysuits and gas-propelled grappling hooks). He makes great use of makeshift weaponry, both advanced and simple, and has extensive experience with conventional firearms as well. Bernhard also has a background in hand-to-hand combat, wrestling being his forte.

Ascendancy: Bernhard possesses superhuman levels of strength, stamina, and durability. The limits of his strength are unknown, although it’s likely he can lift several tons over his head (As is the standard for comic book strength tests). His heightened stamina and durability allows him to recover faster from injury and fight longer than a normal human, but they do not make him particularly resistant to bullet wounds ( His Kevlar armor helps him in that area).

One of Bernhard’s greatest assets is the surprise factor he has when using his super strength in hand-to-hand combat. Because of his heavy reliance on firearms and gadgets in a fight, he often doesn’t let on that he’s an ascendant unless he runs out of ammunition or if someone gets close enough to try to disarm him. Incidentally, his strength allows him to effortlessly handle the recoil of powerful weapons that would severely affect the aim of a normal man.

Weakness: First and foremost, Bernhard’s social skills are gravely deficient. This is most dangerous to him when he’s trying to look inconspicuous during a ruse. He’s able to deliver a passable performance most of the time, but it’s a strain to do even that.

Secondly, Bernhard is a consummate loner when it comes to his personal affairs. He does not function well on a team and would resist being forced into one. He can also become hostile if shown affection.

Service Record

Bernhard Longstreet’s childhood in the early part of the new millennium was that of constant pain and degradation. Unable to comprehend even the most basic social norms, he was considered an outcast and suffered harassment at the hands of his peers. As the years went by, Longstreet began to cultivate misanthropic views about society and eventually started to violently lash out against his tormentors. By the time he reached high school he was no longer regarded with ridicule, but fear.

During his senior year, Bernhard suddenly experienced a major shift when his family moved to a more upscale town and he started to attend a different high school. Thanks to the clean slate he had due to his lack of reputation there, Bernhard was no longer treated with contempt by his peers. In fact, he was even reasonably well-liked due to his status as an athlete. This didn’t change his views about people, however. He considered his new classmates essentially the same as the old ones, they just didn’t perceive his vulnerabilities or consider him deviant enough to warrant an attack. It was during this time that he began developing his manipulative tendencies.

After he graduated high school, Bernhard finally got the opportunity to do what he wanted to do most, which was move away from home. His parents assumed he would keep in touch, but he had absolutely no intention to even see them again. After sporadically moving around the country, Bernhard briefly tried to attend college before joining the army when he had no other recourse.

After undergoing training, Bernhard became a maintenance technician for artillery and infantry weapons. He had quite the knack for this job and gained a deep knowledge of the structure and function of each device. Although he would spend several years in the military, his career would be cut short after the army initiated a program to imbibe its soldiers with an artificial ascendancy.

Ever since the emergence of ascendants, military scientists have been trying to develop a drug that would grant a normal human powers like they have. By the time Bernhard was in the service, several formulas had been tried but none were deemed fit for human testing. The project was just about to be scrapped when a new aerosol stimulant passed the preliminary tests. As fate would have it, Bernhard was working at the same camp as the first batch of guinea pig soldiers who would be administered the drug.

The spray was supposed to be dispensed to the soldiers in heavily controlled volumes while they worked inside an airtight tent. The army made a serious error in pressurizing the tent, however, as the drug seeped out through a leak and ended up contaminating many people in the campsite. As if that wasn’t scandal enough, all of the test subjects fell ill and soon died. Bernhard was one of the workers caught in the leak, and he too became sick.

Bernhard was granted an immediate discharge and spent weeks being treated in a hospital. Only after two months of suffering did the debilitating effects of the gas finally subside, and ironically it was at that time the hoped for ascendancy-granting powers of the drug kick in. Bernhard was understandably surprised by his newfound ability to punch through concrete, but having grown up all his life in a world filled with ascendants, he managed to put two-and-two together and figured out where his strength came from. Reporting his find to the army, however, was not what he had in mind.

Combining his recently acquired vitality with his knowledge of weapons and human nature, Bernhard set out to use his abilities for monetary gain. He does this by working as a hitman for various big shot mobsters, but more often than not he ends up double-crossing his employer and taking anything of their’s that he can get his hands on. To keep his scheme going, Bernhard travels the country to insure no one will anticipate his ruse.
