Hi!
So sorry I haven't been around the forums to welcome you and say hi! =)
Sorry to hear your time at college hasn't been the best so far. I don't think saying it's college phobia is the best idea, because it'll just convince you that college will be the same as school and we all know that we can feel fear and anxiety even when nothing is actually wrong!
I've been going to college for a little over two years now, although I'm painfully aware every college is totally different! But even though I've found college a LOT better than school (I've actually managed to attend and enjoy it) I still get days when I wake up and feel the old fear creeping back in and I don't understand it. There were times in class when I'd suddenly have a panic attack and tell myself "Oh no, it's just like school." But I've found that concentrating on other things means I get through it.
I know I'm saying all this and you're probably thinking, "Well good for you, but that doesn't help me!" I hate sounding so cliched. =) I can only suggest trying some of the School Survival tips we have on the site and thinking to yourself what makes college better or at least different from school?
There's nothing worse than sitting on your own and it's one of those things that make me really anxious, so when I have to I usually take deep breaths and I watch what other people are doing. Not in a "I'm a freaky staring stalker" way! But taking an interest in the people around me distracts me from the thought that they are taking an interest in me.
I know how you feel though, my first week at college I had the unpleasant fact that I was going to be sharing a college class with two of the people who gave me such a hard time at school, but I had to give college a chance to be different.
Let us know how things are going. =) Hope you feel better, but don't be afraid to tell us if you're not.
