Alfrado's was all they said and more, a true high class establishment with waiting lists miles long just to get a seat at the bar but somehow Helen always managed to get to the front of the list. She simply said her only saving grace was being good friends with the manager. It seemed Helen had all manner of friends in just about every place you could think of. The place was decorative but tastefully so like walking into a palace or Helen's home. The warm glow of yellow light washed over the warm colored orange red wallpaper and pale yellow table clothes. Vivaldi played over the hidden speakers arranged through out the various rooms and everyone was dressed in their best.

All around men in buisness suites were discussing work, upper class families were out for dinner, and a few young couples who had gotten lucky celebrated some milestone in their relationship. Helen herself hadn't come in her casual work clothes which when you thought about it were hardly that casual at all. She put more effort into putting her hair up, doing her makeup, and even wore a rather becoming black dress. She had gotten a private room reserved and this work hadn't just been for fun, it had been for her dearest friend Tesla.

Since being fired Tesla was mopping around the Sanctuary drinking and complaining about how he had been cheated and robbed once again. All his life work gone. Helen wanted nothing more than to cheer him up even just a little and she hoped this would help lessen that depression a little even if it was only a little. Helen already had a bottle of Romanée Conti delivered to the table, said to be one of the best bottles of red wine in the world. If that didn't cheer Tesla up nothing would. She wanted to make sure everything was set up before he got here so that it was more a pleasant surprise than walking into something expected.

Sitting back down at the table of of the waiters walked into the private room and announced Tesla had arrived. "Oh thank you, send him here please." Helen straightened out her hair and flattened out the table cloth. Maybe she was a perfectionist but it was more so her nerves showing through. Anything could happen, Tesla could just be in his bitter mood and think everything was gaudy and predictable or he could be in a better mood and think the same thing but in a calmer tone of voice. Lifting one of the wine glasses Helen opened the bottle of wine and filled the glass near the brim. She was going to have to start drinking before he entered the room to fully deal with him tonight. It was hard to remind herself she was doing this to cheer him up.

Tesla had been feeling annoyed recently. He couldn’t shake of this anger, even changing to his vampire hypo-species self just didn’t shake of this feeling. Henry had gotten worried that Nikola had stopped taking the medication to control his deep and deadly vampire desires and Nikola thought that wouldn’t be such a bad idea to do right now, but he knew Helen wouldn’t have wanted him to resort to that. Too much to Henry’s relief and Helen’s, Tesla hadn’t stopped taking his medication. Nor hadn’t he been eating, washing or sleeping, it was safe to say that Tesla looked a complete mess sat at his desk, which he hadn’t left for quite sometime. He was well known for not eating, sleeping or washing when he had been working on something important, a new invention, he did not think there was any thrill that can go through the human heart like that felt by the inventor as he sees some creation of the brain unfolding to success… Such emotions make a man forget food, sleep, friends, love, everything, but to be honest that simply wasn’t the case this time. He was fed up of being a murder to science!

Such depression he felt once before, when he broke all connections with his family and moved from his hometown when he was a young adult in 1878/1879. Oh, and when the cravat went out of fashion. His inventions were swirling out of control with SCIU, using them as weapons instead of technology that help in the right way. It didn’t help that he had left most of his invention while at SCIU in the blueprint stages, he left a few key design elements undone, thinking he would get to it later, but he figured one of SCUI’s geek squad had finished and deployed them. His stuff, wasn't designed for the purpose against the abnormals, that they were being used for. This wasn’t how it was meant to be and to top it all off, Nikola didn’t have any control of it. He had no respect for them right now, cheap skates that they are.

The invitation from Helen had come as a somewhat surprise of course. When he found out she was taking him to dinner that night, not just dinner, at Alfradio’s too, he wasn’t sure how to react until he found out she was being serious and he better book up his ideas and sort out his appearance. He may not be such good company right now, he had been very bitter to anyone who had decided to hold a conversation with him and his actions spoke louder then words. Though Nikola had known Helen quite sometime, to understand that there was more behind it, then just wining and dining him… Surely? He wasn’t going to read too much into it just now, just in case it was a genuine nice gesture on Helen’s part. No matter how much he was in an all time low at the moment, he wasn’t, hardly going to say no to a date, with the only woman he found, even somewhat remotely hot – in leather – with a gun – in Old City!

When he had realised the place she had booked on short notice, he gave a slight chuckle. How she managed to do that every time was beyond him. Nikola had known the manager and needless to say, they had a few encounters over the thirty five years, Alfredo’s had been open, sometimes not so peachy as others. Although, he would never get a spot the same day as trying to book. Helen Magnus, it’s not so much as the brain as it is the beauty! He had cleaned himself up too, he had washed and now wore a very stylish black, or in some other shades of light, appeared to be grey, three piece suit, with matching cravat, to add to that /old fashioned/ yet modern look. He liked the idea of a three piece suit, simply because he liked and found the number three fascinating. Those old ways he had, the idea of him needing three napkins before he started on his food, that Helen had saw many times and would pick up on tonight, had never changed. The fact that he had to walk around the block three times before entering Alfaro’s was another. That’s probably what took the time, because he would have arrived about half an hour earlier. This was considered a little OCD on Nikola's part. His hair was standing to attention slightly in a mad scientist kind of look, as if he had received an electrical outburst from an energy source. Just a small one!

The waiter had shown him to the entrance to a very established private room and he entered. His face did light up, evidently astonished at the welcoming view, when he walked into the quarters. Helen was truly breath taking... he knew it and she knew it too. Even if he had been in a bitter mood before, he had no choice in putting his feeling to side for a few hours. He gave Helen a smile which turned into a slight smirk when he saw her large drink on the table. “Looks like I’m not the only one that could do with a stiff one” he commented as he sat down automatically picking up the wine bottle and looking very happy with Helen’s wine choice for the occasion. He poured half a glass for himself and held the glass up so it lined with his eye level. “Well my’lady” He glanced over the top of the brim at Helen “You haven’t lost your touch, I’ll give you that, and I believe I said the same thing in New York all those years back! Fun isn't it? Just like old times, when was that? 1884 - 85? Oh, this reminds me of those care-free wild early days…!”

When Tesla walked in she was happy to see he had cleaned himself up and dressed nice. After...how many days had it been? No food, no sleep, no bath, the poor man looked like a mess in his office, looming in the lab, almost ghost like. Henry had joked about calling an exorcist to chase off the aperition but Helen hadn't found it so funny. Her concern for her friend went a long way and though everyone liked to think Helen Magnus always had some secret agenda she didn't. This time it was just a means to cheer him up and perhaps in that cheering him up...getting some aid from him that she greatly needed. She gave him a little smile and sat at the table hearing Bach pick up and start playing in the background. One of his harpsichord pieces reminding her so much of the old days. She loved Baroque styled music along with the Romantic period music. 20th century music never tickled her fancy quite as much though she did tend to enjoy a few more modern tunes.

Nikola commented on her drinking already. Not to be rude but she figured a glass of wine before dealing with his depression would be best. She loved the man but sometimes she couldn't deal with him. He was one of the few people who never failed to make her feel uncomfortable. He had known her so long he had learned all the right buttons to push and Nikola loved to push them and fairly often. [color=663399]"I still enjoy a cup of tea but I never turned down a good wine."
And naturally all she ever had was one glass since any more than that she felt was unnecessary. Not to mention Helen was hiding a dreadful secret, she couldn't hold her liquor. After one glass she got that fuzzy feeling all over, that pleasant buzz she didn't wish to pass. That ability to still be fully in control. Two glasses she was losing control, her speech wasn't as fluid and she had trouble putting together thoughts. At three glasses she had reached the point of no return. Nikola drank a lot of wine, John a lot of Brandy and Port, Helen...tea.

As Tesla admired the wine in his glass he went out on his little speech how she still had her touch and brought up the old days. He never failed to remind her of the old days and she seldom had much to say about them and so Helen just gave him a little smile and raised her glass to meet his for a little toast. "To the old days then." To the friends they had lost, the loves, the family, the adventures long past, and the wounds that wouldn't heal. "Things have changed a great deal since our care free days." A little reminder that they were not the same, the world was not the same, these were not those carefree days that Nikola so often times liked to bring up. Still today was not about crushing hope or making one remember this wasn't the best of times. Giving him a bit of a smile Helen sipped her wine again and set it on the table. "But there is always tomorrow."

Resting her hands over her menu she looked like she had something important to ask but refrained remembering again Tesla was down and needed a little something to make him feel better. "I sorry what happened Nikola, everything that has happened these past few years. I wish we hadn't met each other this year on cross roads like we had and everything I said. I hope we can put that behind us, I would like you to stay this time Nikola. We could use you...no...I need your help." Helen rested a hand on his trying not to seem too emotional over this but rather very sincere. Helen never asked for help but she was asking for his. She would need his help in time and slowly that time was coming closer. She just feared what life would become when Helen had to call on him in that hour and what would happen to them. Both of them. "And I hope the wine cheers you up a little. You are my oldest friend Nikola, I can't stand to see you this upset. I haven't seen you this way since...well since a very long time ago." She didn't want to bring up that time, that event, or anything related to it. Best to keep the past in the past.

Alfredo’s has created the sights, sounds, smells and particularly the tastes of Italy by offering patrons authentic Italian cuisine. The decoration was extremely fitting, the right kind of music, Nikola always thought was important to set the scene, depending on what was playing, music always seemed to play with peoples emotions. The very distinguished smell of an all-natural kosher sauce instinctively tickled Nikola’s nose when he had walked in and they will find out if the philosophy of this place really did please and deliver customers the wealth of dining choices. Like Helen, he quite enjoyed fine dining with the right kind of company. What finer place to do that, then the well-loved dining tradition in Old City,. Alfredo’s welcomes loyal devotees as well as new clientele to sample their new specialties. The ambience at Alfredo’s is reminiscent of the neighbourhood. Changes at this Old City landmark mean only a natural evolution of the finest in Italian cooking. He checked out the menu, but he had heard, about their, Veal dishes being just one of Alfredo’s favourite, “The Godfather”, a fabulous treat of veal prepared three different styles, Veal Francese, Veal Marsala and Veal Parmesan, is the most popular choice. Notice the three…. Other fine choices include pastas and fresh seafood such as Linguine Pescatore, a combination of mussels, clams, shrimp and calamari in a light tomato sauce over pasta. Well they were pretty much spoilt for choice here weren’t they?

“To the old days” Nikola repeated and clicked his glass against hers as they toasted to those old time, which had gone but never truly forgotten. Nikola did hope, there were more life times of adventures to come in the near future in this long and eventful life, even though things had changed pretty much between them. That and the fact they weren’t as young as they used to be, as much as Nikola hated the thought of growing grey hairs, they would eventually peek out later rather then soon. Longevity was something else and really did have its pros and cons and you had to experience it to understand where he was coming from. He took a sip of the wine and let the contents swill around his mouth before swallowing and giving a sigh of great pleasure. Taking in the scent of violet and cherry, it was simply a suaveness of exceptional finesse. He could taste the riches of burgundy and he intended to savoury every moment of this silky wine like it was his last. He rolled his eyes slightly when she commented she preferred her tea. “So British Helen! Don’t humble yourself under such mighty!” he had a slight smirk on his face when he said that, suggesting there might have been something else in and around that comment he was referring too.

He glanced over at Helen and narrowed his eyes at her expression. He knew that look, she had something to say to him, or ask, he wasn’t sure, which, right now but he wished she would just say it anyway. He opened his mouth to talk but Helen got there first and she apologised. He frowned a little at this. “I hardly want you to apologise Helen, let alone to me” he said “In fact if I wasn’t so stubborn myself I would be the one apologising…” he gave a slight chuckle at that and bowed his head just a tad. Helen should really take that as the closest thing to an apology from him she would get and continued “…but apologising is kind of admitting your in the wrong… and you are not in the wrong” He could think of several things he could say he was sorry for, the main one was his latest betrayal with SCUI. If he was honest, he thought this time he had completely destroyed the friendship between Helen and himself, so he was more then a little grateful when she said if it was possible to put everything that had happened behind them and move on. She always forgave him, no matter what he did.

Nikola’s eyes raised from the empty plate they had fell upon, when he felt Helen’s hand on his. Little did Helen now, even if, sometimes he didn’t show it, that sometimes everything had to be about him, she should know him well enough to understand that he was the only one still standing and he would help Helen anyway he could. Nikola was recognizing that she was asking for his help and maybe that was the true reason why she asked him here tonight, disguised by the fact he needed cheering up. He also recognized that Helen never actually asked for help unless she was desperate. He held her hand in his, longer then meant too and gave it a slight squeeze “Helen, you have known me longer then anyone else in this century and seeing has I’m un-hired and nobody else wants me, my services are all yours…” He let go of her hand and leaned over the table, seemingly to be searching her face for answers. “One condition…” he pointed at her. “You let me in on what you are planning, see, something has been bugging me and I know you to well. Closing down Sanctuary's? I expect you to fool the kids Helen, but not me!” He was simply pushing buttons as normal, to see how far he could get, but he knew when Helen was rattled, just like she knew when he was.

For a moment she felt like everything was alright. All the chaos surrounding her these past few years melted away behind a genuine warm smile. The pain she had been suffering from all the betrayal and senseless killing faded. There was just this moment and the freedom within it. A well needed break from the Sanctuary. It reminded her of Venice back in the old days just a little. Venice had been so beautiful and she had been there just in time for their large masquerade in the city streets. The moonlight reflecting off the canals. Dinner by candlelight, a stroll through the city, and then of course work. When wasn't work involved? Tesla teased her about being so British, the fact was Helen was rather patriotic. Not so much that she hailed the queen but enough that she continued to have tea time according to the British tradition, she kept many core values of a Victorian British woman, and she refused to spell anything according to American English. She also went as far as to using British slang rather than Canadian or American. Despite the lack of a British flag in her home Helen very much liked to think she was still in England.

When Helen had apologized she hadn't just been talking about how she treated him when he joined SCUI. She spoke about a lot of past events she should have avoided. His losing his vampire abilities, her constant throwing him into the ground every time they crossed paths, and of course far worse things that maybe could not be forgiven. Though Tesla pointed out she shouldn't be saying sorry, not to him, and though he didn't deserve it she still felt it had to be said. She wanted Nikola to stay this time, she could use his skills to their own use and with SCUI holding onto so many of his inventions already they would need his brain to combat them. "I know but I have lost faith in you, I have given up on you, and I have turned on you and perhaps in times I shouldn't have but at the same time I have also helped you many times as you have helped me." If they ever became true enemies it would be terrifying.

Had she been mistaken or had Tesla hinted at an apology as well? It was close enough or as close as you could ever get anyways. Tesla agreed to side with her and help her in this battle but only if she told him what she was planing. Still holding his hand she sat back more, how could she let him in on something without telling him about the big picture? "Don't you trust me? You know I always have something up my sleeve and I will tell you this time I certainly do though the details are not ready to be out in the open just yet Nikola, I hope you understand." Besides Helen loved a surprise and what she had in store was bound to be a surprise. "However you can know this, I can't hold onto the other Sanctuaries anymore aside from London and Old City. We need to pull back our forces to get away from SCUI." She didn't specify where they would be moving though.

The song changed again and Helen let go of Tesla's hand smiling at the song as she took another sip of wine. "Vivaldi's Spring, I have always adored this song." It reminded her of Ashley when she was just a little girl. Those had been happy memories, the little girl running about so innocent and carefree. It seemed it was going to take a while for anyone to notice they were here and take their orders or perhaps they wanted to give them plenty of time to decide. Not like they were doing to starve. They had bread and olive oil in case they did get peckish. Standing up from the table Helen was pleased they were in a private room now and one large enough to throw a party in it. "Care to dance?"

“On the contrary, with the SCIU officials poking their noses in where they aren’t wanted and the rising abnormals left over after Hallow Earth, I would have thought, you Helen, would need all the extra help you can get of the other Sanctuaries for space to contain the beings more then anything, not close them down, but that is just my opinion.” Nikola commented with a slight shrug of his shoulders, or rather just digging for more information. He knew she had lost funding from most of her contacts and that could put pressure on an organization, especially as big as The Sanctuary, with reputation. He should know that more then anyone. There was still something, that he couldn’t put his finger on and unlike Helen, he defiantly didn’t like surprises, or rather, being left in the dark, with being lied too from every angle and the fact that Helen had admitted, just now, she had something up her sleeve, didn’t really help the matter. She always had a knack for turning the conversation around and answering his question with something witty, leaving him with more unanswered things. It really made Nikola’s head spin with slight frustration.

None of the less that’s what he loved about her, she was never boring and he couldn’t help but wonder if this is how she felt when he’d show up unexpectedly with his, he was sure Helen would call it, reckless actions and abilities! Yes, she would defiantly call it reckless, but he doubted that she would want it any other way. Like she said, he was the genius, he should figure it out, but boy, how much he enjoyed the puzzles to engage the dullest part of the brain, however he didn’t think he was that close to figuring this one out. He had even gone through past event where Helen and himself had met, well that proved ever so slightly difficult, if he could work out if he had met the Helen from that era or this Helen in front of him. “Understandable…” he said when she commented about losing faith in him. “Maybe it’s my self loathing at the moment, but I haven’t been myself recently and under the circumstances that is pretty comprehensible. I mean finding a way to get drunk, not one of my brilliant ideas to date, now is it?” He put on a partly thoughtful, partly playful look and eyed the wine bottle up. “Although – near brilliance!”

He could be selfish, impatient and more then a little insecure. He made mistakes, a tad out of control and at times hard to handle. But if people couldn’t handle him at his worst then they sure didn’t deserve him as his best. “I do trust you Helen with my life” She did revamp him after all, the best thing she ever did, oh he hadn’t felt more attracted to her then that moment. This moment would take some beating “…Oh right, I already have!” He remembered, the same night they injected with the source blood, she had volunteered to go first and wanted him to be the one who had injected her with the serum. Not Druitt, nor Watson, nor Griffin it had been him. That kind of trust wasn’t there for a reason, it was earnt, over many bottles of wine and good companionship! He guessed that was a wise decision on Helen’s behalf, simply because James would never have forgiven himself if anything had happened to her, John would have been pushed to far over the edge and Griffin would have probably laughed it off and continued to inject himself with the serum no matter what. Whereas, Nikola, he had put his feelings to one side for the benefit of the greater good and if anything had gone wrong, it would have been a mere kind of tragic. He always had the guts to push boundaries where things shouldn’t be pushed, when the others took a step back.

Nikola had a noticeable small smile creeping out as he turned to face Helen who had made her way round to him, to ask him to dance. “Helen Magnus…” he stood up, taking her hand. He raised it to his face and planting a soft kiss by brushing his lips against her fingers. “…a woman after my own heart I see, like hell on fire I’ll dance with you” Before he made his move he gestured for Helen to stay where she was for the time being. He brought up the chair he had been sitting on and stood on top of it, he hoped he left Helen bewildered or he opted for amused at what he was doing or about to do. He raised his hand to the main lighting on the ceiling, which caused small sparks to rain down and disappear mid-flight, and hairs to stand up on the back of his hand. Once he had finished showing of his electric power tricks the lighting had dimmed down to a low level and little did Nikola know he had caused a power interval across the whole restaurant, but that hardly mattered. He simply could have used the switch but when did he ever do things the simple way. He jumped down from the chair and moved it out the way. “That’s better! Now where were we, my dear?”

He hadn’t danced for quite sometime, he couldn’t remember when actually and that was saying something for someone who had a good memory. He took Helen’s hand and twirls her under his arm bringing her close to him. He slipped his arm around her waist, he took in the sweet aroma of Helen and for a split second he closed his eyes imagining where the night could take them! Only when he opened his eyes, he realised he hadn’t made a move to dance. He cleared his throat and began to lead Helen hoping he hadn’t got two left feet to begin with. “I’ve often thought about this moment, you and me, no distraction, well, maybe there’s one!” He said rather direct, but, when did Nikola ever be direct, he was all about innuendos and he knew Helen would brush it off as playful banter.

Nikola had made a point, Helen needed a place to keep all the abnormals and so she would tell Nikola a little of something more. "That is why I have given them a city of their own. Those who are left homeless from Hollow Earth will have a new home here on the surface, in Old City. I already have the land set aside and no one is allowed in or out. It's a truly free place where they can carry on with their way of living." She wanted to say it was a brilliant solution but it wasn't. That was only the temporary fix for the more permanent problem but all the same even that was being worked out. Even this whole plan seemed a bit out of character for her, almost a spur of the moment and Helen was rarely a spur of the moment sort of women when it came to the safety and well being of thousands of abnormals. She tended to be very serious about this work and even she would know a band-aid did not fix severed limbs.

Tesla went on to describe his change of behavior and it being driven by his self loathing. It was understandable, he was upset with himself and the fact he had gotten caught doing something bad thus costing him his job but acting like a child wasn't going to help him in the least. It wasn't going to help anyone for that matter. "Oh Nikola...it hadn't been that good of an idea. Drowning your sorrows never fixes the problem my dear old friend." She smiled at him a little when he mentioned he had trusted her with his life, everyone had in the Five and even Will, Kate, and Henry had done the same. They had all taken the blind leap of faith knowing...no hoping she would get them through the chaos in one piece. Helen even found herself doing the same with others now a day. She trusted Will, Henry, Kate, even Tesla.

"As I have trusted you against my better judgment." Tesla has betrayed her, he had betrayed her several times and even tried to kill her once but through it all he always there when she really needed him. He had saved her life, saved her dignity, saved her reputation and at the same time nearly destroyed it. "Still I have faith in you. I have known you long enough I know your mind by now." She smiled remembering when he had said those same words to her. She believed she had been tied up in a closet at that time. Once again in a situation where Helen had come to fix something Tesla mucked up yet again. Always having his experiments backfire on him. Thankfully he had given up on the desire to bring back the vampire race but world domination was still questionable. She didn't like to think this way but maybe he would never be happy until he had the world. Something she would never allow and thus she would be the one eternally crushing his dreams.

Asking Tesla to dance with her she knew his response would be without question a yes. Maybe it was the wine but she was daring to be daring and still telling herself this was all only to cheer Tesla up. She couldn't admit to the things she wanted to for Helen knew the risk outweighed the benefits. Tesla kissed her hand and joined her next to the table telling her to hold her position for a moment. "Still a gentleman I see." She watched him cocking an eyebrow as he got up in the chair and touched the light above them making in flash and roll down into a dimmer shade. Helen couldn't help but smile at him, nothing was traditional with Tesla. "And I see you are still more than happy to show off." She wouldn't have wanted him to be any other way.

She waited for him to move the chair back into place and stepped forward taking his hand again and shaking her head a little. Helen was slightly more cautious than she had been before. If this was Tesla's idea of trying to romance her he would be sourly disappointed. "Dancing I believe." Helen replied to his question and let herself get a little closer to him only because she knew she was in control of this situation right now. Helen would not let anything happen that she didn't want to have happen. Tesla spun her into him and now they stood so close you could hardly fit a hand between them. Straightening out her back when he slipped his hand to her waist Helen looked back up into those electric blue eyes and thought back about the past for just a second but that second faded quickly. Not so quickly for Tesla.

"Nikola, are you alright?" She knew he was alright she just wanted him to get out of his own head for fear of where it was going. "Don't tell me you have forgotten to dance." They finally found the beat and moved around the room dancing as they once had at parties almost forgotten. When Helen would arrive in one of her long elegant gowns, her golden tresses pinned up with such a style most of the men in the room had their eyes on her. Of course in those days Helen would have danced with Johnathan and watched Nikola stand in the corner without anyone to talk to. Eventually Helen would give him one dance as well only so he didn't feel surrounded by people he couldn't really stand. They had always been close friends just as all the Five had been but Tesla seemed to always get her attention when in a crowd.

Typical Tesla, he had to tell her he had often times thought of this moment, no distractions...aside from something more hinted. Helen simply shook her head and rolled her eyes at his comment. As always she didn't feed into his little flirtatious habits. It was even harder to just ignore them and return to normal now that he had worked at SCIU and that girl, his assistant or whoever she had been. Nikola seemed to have had a rather meaningless relationship with her but all the same it had happened. Tesla always was a flirt but picky about his women, he had changed in one way however. Now he didn't mind targeting someone and when he had them he didn't care what became of them when he was finished. Never would she allow him to do the same with her. "Focus Nikola you missed a beat in the rhythm." Another little smile crossed her face and she looked down at their feet noticing Tesla had turned a three step dance into a two step dance for just a brief moment.

Of course Nikola was more then very happy to show off, especially when it came to expressing himself via electricity! He may not be the best at consorting at gatherings, or holding conversations with people he detested, but hell wouldn’t piss on fire when it came too showing how capable his mind was and demonstrating electricity. He used to do that quite a lot, he remembered once, at the Columbian Exposition, he demonstrated a series of electrical effects in a lecture he had previously been performing through out American and Europe. It included using high-voltage, high frequency, alternating current to light a wireless gas-discharge lamp. Within the room was suspended two hard-rubber plates covered with tin foil. These were about fifteen feet apart, and served as terminals of the wires leading from the transformers.

When the current was turned on, the lamps or tubes, which had no wires connected to them, but lay on a table between the suspended plates, or which might be held in the hand in almost any part of the room, were made luminous. These were the same experiments and the same apparatus shown by Nikola in London, Oxford about two years previous to this, where they produced so much wonder and astonishment. These experiments were very entertaining but at the same time very reckless and dangerous, not only putting himself in danger because he could, but the general public too who came to watch, but it shows that Nikola said /I do/ and has always been married to his work. One might ask how he survived these kinds of experiments, but one didn’t know his true nature. Nikola gazed into Helen’s eyes still somewhat reminiscing over past and possibly future endings, almost hypnotized by her, but lets face when wasn’t he memorized by her. His eyes were ablaze with such wonder.

He returned her smile when she made a comment about knowing his mind, he didn’t doubt that for a second but he knew hers just as well. Well… he thought he did, until recently, when everything was knocked out of kilter. “Never been better!” Nikola replied to her question asking if he was alright, at least that was better then being depressed, like when he first walked into the room about an hour and half ago. Nikola’s moods were pretty much up and down like a yoyo you just got to know how to take him at the time. It was hard to tell weather he was being serious or not and Helen did a fine job maintaining this level of air for such a long time. “And might I add, you should be quite pleased with yourself” He said quietly, barely a whisper as he raised his head so it rested against the side of hers. She might think she had the whole situation under control, but the truth was neither of them did! No really, he knew he hadn’t and well Helen had drank a glass of wine, he knew what she was like when wine was added to the moment!

Nikola lost time and track with the music for split second but that’s all it took to loose the rhythm of the dance. He made up for it though and brought it back to a three step and in time with the music. He couldn’t help but smirk when she told him to keep focus! There was far too much for him to focus on! He lead her around the room at least another three times, close to him, before letting her dance freely at his arm length. He twirled her once again under his arm and brought her, this time with her back facing towards him, he rested his head on her shoulder. His arms had drifted around her waist, embracing her pretty close to him. “So…” He muttered, “How’s my magnetism tonight?”

It was hard to look directly into his eyes, Helen always saw that flicker of mischief behind them. that sly little smile never hiding a thing, and more terrifying was the fact she couldn't look away even when she wanted to. "Good, I had hoped your mood would improve." She gave him an honest smile and glanced over at the wall just behind him before looking back at his face. Helen had glanced at the clock three times now and still no one was coming to wait on them. Alfredo's was known for their good service along with their good food and so Helen knew something had to be amiss for them to take so long to serve them. She figured before mentioning anything to anyone she would wait a little longer. They never let her down and she was certain they wouldn't start.

Perhaps she would be pleased with herself, she had put aside her time from the Sanctuary and the chaos around her. She had managed to get a private room at the most popular restaurant in all of Old City, and on top of that she had gotten dressed up, very dressed up. In fact Helen hadn't been this dressed up since before Ashley. She had put a lot of effort into making him feel better but when she thought about it Helen had needed the distraction as well. Since coming back to the Sanctuary it had been nothing but stress. She was dealing with everyone who wanted to take her down, dealing with the government, and dealing with a few other misadventures including nearly losing Henry and then finding out that he was going to be a father. She had to make a few choices this year which had almost turned Will against her and soon she knew it would. Will would leave her services but only because she asked him to. In the end it would all work itself out.

After his little recovery from the slip up in the rhythm he continued to lead her about the room, a little closer to him than Helen normally allowed. When he spun her again Helen's dress went out a little more than it had before and she wished she hadn't worn a dress that was split on one side now. Naturally she wore a dress that would be easy to move in, not saying something would happen but she was always prepared to run. Spinning her back into him her back was against him now and Nikola put his head against her shoulder making Helen tense up a little. Cheeky monkey, it wasn't a surprise he was doing this now. Hopefully someone would come in and take their orders already before he tried anything far too tricky...like pouring her another glass of wine. Tesla knew Helen's comfort zone increased with every glass of wine. Where normally she wouldn't let you near her after a few glasses she would turn into a puppy dog sitting on your lap and possibly getting very affectionate. This was the reason she didn't drink too much, ever.

"Nikola...really?" Helen shook her head at his question. Her comfort level had just decreased again feeling his arms around her. She remembered the real reason they were here, true she wanted to cheer Nikola up and get him out of the dumps but she didn't mean to put him in the gutter either. "Do you really have to do this now? I was almost enjoying myself too." Her voice changed from the earlier scolding tone to an almost teasing one. Helen turned her head just ever so slightly to look at him and give him one of hr looks. She was slightly amused by him but not enough that he was physically safe if he tried anything else on her. "You proved me wrong after all Nikola, you are a good dancer." Helen let him hold her just a little longer before she moved away from him and turned to face him. Thankfully too since one of the staff members from Alfredo walked in just then and he wasn't a waiter.

"Helen Magnus correct? We are evacuating the area, the government is on their way. Something has happened."

Helen turned to Nikola quickly, now she understood why it had taken so long. The staff must have been trying to clear the place out. "Did they mention what it was?"

The man clearly knew Helen and perhaps even what she did or maybe he wouldn't have brought up what he did now. "There was a body found near by, they wouldn't tell me what had done it...but I think you would."

Good call on his part. Helen turned back to Nikola and grabbed him by the arm. "Dinner is going to have to be put on hold, Dorian can you lead us out the back? You know the exit through the kitchen?"

"Miss? i can't...well...don't tell anyone." His second good choice of the night. Hopefully this wouldn't disappoint Nikola. She was sure they would do something to make it up to her.

"Lets hurry then before they find us."

Nikola didn’t realize the time or hadn’t noticed that nobody had came into check on them or take their order so it didn’t clock on as strange at first. Like the good old saying, time flies when you’re having fun and he was to a certain extent, he hadn’t noticed that it had been a complete hour and half since someone had checked in on them, well since the waitress had shown him to the private quarters when he arrived at least. He hadn’t felt this good for a long time, all depressive thoughts about his work and SCIU had been placed to the back of his mind never to be resurfaced – well not for a little while anyway. He couldn’t help but chuckle when Helen protested that she was almost enjoying herself if he hadn’t made the advances. Oh, she was enjoying herself alright, he could tell.

She needed a break as must as he did, probably for completely different reasons, but it was still a break none of the less. Although he narrowed his eyes ever so slightly when he noticed Helen kept glancing at the time herself. “Expecting someone, thing, or would you rather be somewhere else?” he teased with one of his smug grins as she moved away from him and turned to face him. “Of course I can dance, in more ways then the obvious, but you just haven’t found that out yet!” He knew he was a good dancer, being brought up in the Victorian times gave them the slight advantage, ahead of today’s society, he just hadn’t danced the one way he had tonight for a very long time. If he did dance, it was with people he couldn’t stand to be around but he didn’t show it, which automatically put up there as being a gentleman.

His very good friend Robert Underwood Johnson a well known US writer at the time, once described him as a distinguished sweetness, sincerity, modesty, refinement, generosity, and force. What a load of garb, he didn’t have time to socialize as much as the other four of the five did; he was married to the one true love of his life – his work – and that was an up and down relationship, especially if someone was obliged to come along and steal it. Though his confidence grew around people he knew and most importantly, around people he liked to be with it. Nikola was prone to alienate himself on often occasions due to this very reason of not liking people. He’d rather be in a lab, causes power infatuations, controlling his vampire desired and trying to show off the things he could do and impress with his grand showmanship! Which had been proved by the dancing tonight.

No sooner as Nikola commented about Helen checking the time every so often, the door burst open and a man appeared asking for her, crashing all Nikola’s dreams, mainly hopes for the night. From his experience, people that burst in, interrupting them, didn't necessarily have good news to share. He narrowed his eyes and glanced at Helen when she looked at him, he was listening to everything that was going on even if it appeared to go through one ear and out the other. When the guy mentioned that the government would arrive soon, he obviously meant SCIU. The flood gates had suddenly been opened in Nikola’s mind and he couldn’t contain showing his anger for and against them. When the man said something had happened and Helen asked what, Tesla scolded by tossing the, Nikola would call him a waiter even though he wasn’t, a dirty look and by snapping. “Nikola happened, or will!”

Helen grabbed him by the arm and proceeded to pull him along. “One moment please” he stopped just before they left the private quarters, he reached for a croissant, dipped it in the oil that had been placed for a starter for them and turned back to Helen… “What? I have just worked up an appetite and I’ve heard that these croissants are to die for…” At the moment he said that, bullets flew across the room. “Quite literally! Go, go, go…” He pushed passed the so called waiter and followed Helen out through the kitchens and out back that lead to darkened alleyway, a typical look for behind restaurants or shops. He closed the door shut after the waiter called Dorian had passed and turned resting his back against the door. He didn’t look happy what so ever “I’ve just nearly been shot, I can’t get drunk, and I haven’t been kissed, my date been cut short, did I mention I hate the gorverment, I’m not having a very go day here am I!? You want my plan, let’s confront our enemies; and outsmart them if we can, I'm banking on the latter”

She didn't answer his question on if she was expecting someone. She was expecting something that was certain. In the silence of this hour with no one come to check on them. "No just a little shocked by the service we have gotten." Which was hardly any at all. When things didn't follow according to the set scheduled Helen assumed something bad had happened and nine times out of ten she was correct on that feeling. "People surprise you every day Nikola. I am sure I have surprised you more than once in our lifetime. No matter how well you think you know someone, no matter how long you have known them." That was almost a loaded statement following with what they had been talking about earlier. Helen had something up her sleeve, something she was keeping well hidden but at the same something that would make one hell of a conversation piece at the dinner table later.

By the time their waiter came rushing in with the news of evacuation Helen nearly uttered words she felt only explained how she looked upon this situation. 'Why am I knot surprised?' The thought ran through her head several times and she looked back to Nikola. This was why she could never have peaceful outings either on her own or with others. Something always came up. Something always interrupted it. From emergency calls from the Sanctuary to someone coming after her or an abnormal near by. Always in the right place at the right time. After they were fully informed on the situation Nikola snapped back. He had a strong dislike for SCIU and Helen didn't blame him. In fact she shared his dislike for that corrupt government run organization enslaving abnormals.

"Nikola, I'd rather we got to the abnormal SCIU is after rather than SCIU itself. You can get your revenge on them that way." How would they transport the abnormal and catch them was unknown. She would have to call a transport truck from the Sanctuary. The rewards of pulling an abnormal out from under their nose was just too much to resist. It felt a little like payback since SCIU had been doing that to them all week. When she grabbed Nikola he stalled and for a moment she thought he had something important to say but in turn just grabbed on of the rolls off the table and dipped it in oil before stuffing it in his mouth. She was about to say something until the gunfire rang out above their heads and Nikola pushed her away towards safety. She instinctively pulled him down out of the range of bullets despite the fact he couldn't die from a gun shot.

Out in the alley Helen reached under her dress pulling the gun from her holster on her leg. She honestly never went out without a gun and a knife on her person. Holding it up she prepared herself for anyone who came after them but of course as always Nikola had to weight the negative aspects of the day. "No we have to go after the abnormal first. It's too risky to confront SCIU." Besides the first person they would try to shoot would be Helen and she wasn't properly covered for a gun fight. With Nikola rambling on Helen was so close to slapping him across the face if only to snap him back into reality. Poor him, oh yes he couldn't get drunk, his 'date' was ruined, he wasn't going to get a kiss regardless, and now he was being shot at. Meanwhile the world had turned against Helen and she wasn't complaining.

"Come on, we need to keep moving. Nikola you follow me, Dorian you stay put. They are not after you." Once they were a little further away from Dorian Helen turned and faced Nikola, that look on her face as if she had something important to say. Leaning in a little closer she kissed him on the cheek, not quite the lips since he hadn't warranted such a response from Helen just yet. "That's for luck." She stated and nodded her head before putting the gun out in front of her and turning the corners. Like a trained federal Helen checked her blind spots and followed through moving with stealth even in her heels and dress. Hopefully Nikola would shush up a little. She would find a way to make up this night to him but for right now her main concern was on this abnormal.

Helen was right, people did surprise them everyday usually when they least expect it. She did surprise him more then others and here we go, she was giving one of those boring lectures of hers, this time about, no matter how long you have known a person, they’d still surprise you. He thought about rolling his eyes, but as the statement replayed over in his mind, he narrowed them instead, wondering if that statement had more behind it then meets the eye. Nobody could fool Nikola but Helen gave it a good try. Okay, so, he was in for a surprise now was he? He gave Helen a slight smile at the statement and knew that he did surprise her too, sometimes, more so for the bad reasons rather then the good ones. Tonight was just one of those unexpected moments that would probably stay in Nikola mind for quite something, minus the not so little disruption. Other people might have an argument, Nikola and Helen had guns fired at them. Though, even if he didn’t show it right now, he always enjoyed these little adventures, expected or not. Nobody would complain if they had an /assistant/ like Helen. Scratch that. Helen and what she was dressed in. Scratch that too. It suddenly doomed on him that he was the assistant. The point still stands! He straightened his jacket at the thought.

“Revenge is sweet…” Nikola said, there was a brief moment where he looked like he had something else to say, but he thought the more, rather then hurting Helen's feelings. It was going to take a lot more then taking an abnormal right from under SCIUs noses to quince his desires. He knew, the abnormal would be better of in the Sanctuary, then that torture place and it would piss them of greatly, so he figured it would have to do for now. The terms stated when he got the job as director was that they would study abnormals left over from Hallow Earth, they didn’t state that by studying they meant putting the abnormal through hell physically and mentally. There is a fine line between studying them and what SCIU was and is doing to them. Yes, some abnormals, granted, they didn’t know anything about some beings, some were potentially dangerous more so then others. The more time he spent pondering over the what ifs, SCIU were closing in on the abnormal and them. They, themselves were probably, worth a whole lot more to SCIU also. He very well understood what Helen was saying, going after the abnormal first would be the best of option, but there was a little itch in the back of his mind, that he wasn’t going to get a better night to show that government organization that he means business. He could give Helen time, cause a diversion…

To risky to confront SCIU as Helen mentioned, of course she would say that and he arched a eyebrow amusingly when she pulled out her gun. “Oh Helen, do you have to be such tease in times like these!” he commented with a smirk and followed her. He took a glance back at Dorian as he disappeared out of sight. He turned back to Helen and almost bumped into her as he noticed she had stopped and faced him. He searched her face for a moment, getting another one of those inklings that she wanted to say something to him. The next thing he knew was that she leaned into him and gave him a kiss on the cheek, close to his lips but not quite. Her goal in getting Nikola to shut up, finally worked as they shared this moment. “Helen Magnus, what were you talking about?” he gave another slight smirk, referring to the earlier conversation, before they were fired upon. “Full of surprises” he finished as Helen disappeared around the corner, followed closely by Nikola. “What exactly are you planning to do when we have reached this abnormal? Might I remind you we don’t know what we are dealing with, SCIU might already be a step ahead of us where that is concerned” He muttered so only Helen could hear him, every now and then stopping to check behind him. “…And how do you know this isn’t a trap for us?” he sounded serious "Call me paranoid but what I recalled, Dorian didn’t give us much to go on."

Nikola paused before he jogged quietly in front of Helen, intended to stop her in her tracks and peered around the next corner. He held up a hand and gestured that there were two guards ahead and heading their way from the main high street. They were heavily body armoured and armed with guns. He knew he was covered; bullets didn’t harm him, unless the guards, just so happened to be carrying solid silver bullets somewhere. Helen on the other hand wasn’t protecting and he would hate that dress to get ruined. He rested his back against the wall, with a mischievous kind of look in his eye. “I have this under control!” he said and nodded. “You” He pointed to Helen and tapped her nose. With that Nikola had changed in a split second into his vampire, alter ego. “Stay right here!” His voice was deep and animal alike and gave a slight wink at Helen, before he disappeared. He gracefully walked up the middle of the alleyway in plain view of the soldiers, if that’s what you could call them. He folded his arms and gave a shake of his head. “Suprise! Now boys are you looking for me, or something else?” he inquired as the soldiers in sync took aim at him. “Tut tut tut” he said “When are you going to learn that standard weapons won’t kill me” he glanced between the two men, wondering if the cat had gotten their tongue “…And you two shouldn’t have let me stand here and talk so much”

Nikola saw the men look at each other unsurely then back to him. “Never trust Nikola Tesla…” He raised his eyebrows, placing his hands on his hips, he was almost in touching distanced of the soldiers now. With a wave of his hand, the men were knocked of their feet by an invisible force. One flew to the right and the other flew to the left, both hitting the wall of the alleyway either side of Nikola, resulting in them being knocked out. Nikola puffed out his cheeks and glanced between the two men. “Far too easy... oh and never trust a vampire…” He kicked the weapons they were holding away and from arms length. He glanced around the area, not one hundred percent sure, if it was safe and made his way back to Helen. “Go…” He said, and his mind was pretty much made up. “Find the abnormal and I’ll gain us some time with the mercenary heads that were behind us in the restaurant for whatever you need to do, GO!”

Steps echoed in the street as a young woman swiftly came around a corner; fear, confusion and almost helplessness all etched on her face as she looked back at the soldiers who were pursuing her before looking back and expertly, as well as gracefully, flipping over some of the trash that littered the alleyway. "Go away.... GO AWAY!" She screamed as she kept running; her clothes, all tattered and had been seemingly lived in for too long, with a backpack that had seen better days before the young girl turned her head back around as a hint of brown could be seen in her eyes before they turned more feline like in the darkness as they shifted from brown to a yellow green.

Turning back to look for a moment, the girl's foot tried on one of the soldiers on the ground as she fell to the floor, the very thin fabric of her dirtied linen trousers giving way to the course ground and her tender skin around her knee scraped against the floor, blood weeping from it's open seam as she bit back the scream of pain as she tried to get up quickly but with little amount of pain so bent her left knee to lift her right off the ground and then pointing her toes of her right foot and then bouncing on her left so that as much of her weight was off her right leg. "Leave me alone! Why are you after me?!" She shouted, too used to being chased so played the clever game for now as her emotions raced through her veins as she tried not to allow two of her emotions to go on a high.....

Limping away, the girl gasped as she saw a Man in front of her as she stepped back. "No.... No, no.... Always an escape... Always..." She tried to reassure herself as she remained caught between the soldiers and the Vampire. Her eyes had shifted back to their heart-warming yet longing brown and seemed to cry desperately for help, her brown hair tied back in haste along with the laces of her once cream, now brown and black converses whose soles were almost completely gone. Her formerly white cashmere tunic hung a little loosely on her nutritionally deprived figure but her face and musculature still held a form of defience to nature.

Her eyes flickered back to him, of course he had to say something about her drawing her gun. Typical of him, he tried to be above the world but he was just like any other man. Easily distracted by the smallest things. She just rolled her eyes at his comment and continued on with her mission to capture the abnormal and bring it to safety. Of course Helen still gave Tesla some encouragement to behave himself especially after his speech of revenge. Helen could recall how dramatic he had been since SCIU let him go but when he talked about revenge eh meant it. Just look at the Cabal. "Yes well, desperate times call for...unseen measures Nikola." She almost said desperate measures but caught herself. That would have hurt him quite a bit.

He asked what she intended to do with this situation. Of course Helen didn't have a plan but she was working on it. "I realize that I am trying to work something out. Even if SCIU is a step ahead of us do you think I would allow them to take this abnormal? They forget if I am forced into a corner, into desperation I fight at my best. They are not getting the better of me this time. I'll not let them harm more innocents." Helen almost pumped herself up enough to go in their guns blazing but Nikola stopped her. Tapping her on the nose Helen pulled her head back a little and complied even if she didn't want to. Nikola could be shot and left unfazed, Helen would feel it. She still watched closely as he wandered out on his own in his vampire state. If anything were to fall apart Helen would be out there without a moments notice to aid him.

Tesla was always such a show off, he had to prove he was the best, smarter, faster, stronger, even better at stupid things like chess and arguments. Perhaps she found it so amusing because Helen tried so hard not to seem the best and yet people viewed them on an equal playing field. He toyed with the men a moment before handing them their asses. It was nearly impossible to fight a vampire unless you were another vampire or Henry. It didn't take much effort on his part to toss those boys around and it was rather sweet he was keeping Helen out of harms way. He always did as did John though both of them knew damn well that Helen if any woman in the world could take care of herself. Tesla had seen Helen hurt before though, both physically, and emotionally. He had seen her nearly die and so perhaps he knew now the legendary Helen Magnus was just that, a mortal. Her life was as fragile as any.

Upon his return Helen stepped away from the cover of the wall just a little and glanced down for any wounds even though they would have healed already. It was just a natural reaction. Tesla told her to go help the abnormal, that he would stay back and hold off the others. It worried Helen and made it difficult for her to leave. She didn't want to leave him behind, not at the risk of losing him. Concern filled her eyes while she looked up at him and took his hand. "Be careful, if you don't come back in one piece I might have to fire you as well." A little lighthearted joke before leaving him in the very real fear something might happy to him. Still Helen had a job to do and she moved on towards the sounds of a screaming voice. She had her abnormal and it seemed she wasn't the first to get there.

Helen's law, if you couldn't run in heels then don't wear them. Obviously she could since she was wearing them. She tracked down the screaming voice and got there just in time to see a man trying to get her, one of SCIU's agents. Raising her gun up Helen shouted to the agent even if to just distract his attention away from the girl. "Leave her alone." Who know who Helen was in an instant and raised his own gun to fire only to have Helen pull the trigger twice, one in the shoulder the other in the leg. Collapsing to the floor the crippled agent dropped his gun and passed out from the pain and the possible fact she had sleeper rounds in her gun rather than full on live rounds. Lowering her gun she turned to the abnormal and coed in a soft voice. "It's alright, i'm here to help you."

Nikola gave Helen’s hand a slight squeeze as she looked at him, told him to be careful and come back in one piece otherwise she’d have to fire him as well. Nikola gave her a reassured nod of his head with a slight snigger across his features. “You better count on it” he said, referring to coming back in one piece and not the other option. Though being fired and unfired played a big part of it, she couldn’t get rid of him that easy and oh, she knew it, but it was always nice to see her show genuine concern for him as he watched her leave to find the adnormal. He was counting on her doing the same thing, because he wouldn’t be reasonable for any kind of actions taken by him, if anything did happen to her, especially if he could have prevented it. Not, that he hadn’t put her in harms way before and afterwards did ever so slightly regret it, he felt he needed to acquire back some of Helen’s trust, after his betrayal with her enemy. That, and some needed revenge on his part against the people he was heading for. He waited for a moment or two, before he turned and ambled in the opposite direction to the way Helen had gone, heading back for the restaurant. From what he remembered there were four armed officers that shot at the waiter, Helen and himself earlier, but he wasn’t utterly sure seeing as he was in no rush to get shot himself.

At that precise moment, Nikola heard two gun shots echo loudly around the area. He had stopped abruptly and turned his head sharply to the direction the noise had come from. Helen’s direction, he had no way of knowing if those shots were from Helen’s pistol or from another one of SCIU’s officers that surrounded them. His black eyes flashed dangerously has he stepped out from the shadows of the wall and into the, what little light emitted from the back of the restaurant. Dorian lay in a heap on the floor just before the back exit and Nikola crouched down to check the man’s pulse. He was still alive. At that moment he saw two shadows suddenly appear behind him. Nikola’s breathing became faint as he slowly stood up, hands raised, claws clearly visible and he wasn’t making any effort to hide them either. Raising an eyebrow as he finally caught sight of them, a smirk tugged on the corner of his mouth curling it upwards as he crossed his arms over his chest. Allowing himself the smug satisfaction of rolling his eyes in a clearly bemused fashion, he stepped forward despite their commands to stay where he was. Watching their muscles tense and their fingers tighten around the trigger of the guns they were holding at just remotely following his movements. Oh this really was too easy, as his face hardened at their words of being surrounded. He was defiantly thinking about using full on tacky catchphrases and glamorous attempts at lying to the enemy as a distraction.

Nikola seemed to glide with a predatorily nature towards where they were standing close to one of the walls. He could smell the adrenaline and sweat that laced their bodies, as their eyes seemed to burn into his own. Gun pointed openly towards his chest as he closed in and stopped just a foot or so from them. Slowly again, he raised his hands, palms facing out in a peaceful gesture showing though, he was armed too the teeth with nasty looking claws. Analyzing the officers’ face for a brief second, he seemed to pause, opening his mouth to speak before his arm swung out from in-front of him suddenly grasping the muzzle of the revolver in the SCIU agents hand and snapped it towards the wall beside him loosing the gun from his grasp. Not waiting for a reaction his other arm reached for his shoulder attempting to shove him roughly face first up against the restaurants wall before letting a droll hiss drip from his mouth near the agents closest ear. The agent was quick but Nikola was quicker as he held him to ransom in front of his fellow co-worker. “Rule number one, never point a gun at me if you don’t mean it. Rule number two, never point a gun at me unless you want me to dish it right back up your ass so drop it and rule number three, never underestimate a vampire.”

Nikola was hardly the strongest against two men twice his size, but he was no low level push over either. He didn’t need a gun, his vampirism gave him all the strength he needed. He could hold his own in a fight, and he’d remind them of that. Though Helen wasn’t here to stop him right now and when Nikola was in this frame of mind there was nothing to stop him from killing them, but then he wondered what made him so different from the rest if he did just that. All Helen’s treatments and his life long promise to stay on his medication would have been for nothing. Fighters read each other’s body languages; obvious movements would get them killed in other situations, each one of them attempting to read the other and figure out where the next attack might come from. One agent to his left, the other to the right, and Nikola was grabbed by his arm as he went to strike one across the face, it was hard working one handed, yet choices had to be made. Drop the revolver he just taken from the SCIU official in his right to aid shrugging off the agent, leaving himself open to the other. It all happened so fast and yet the decision had been settled on within the moment. A duck, shift to the side, block, grab and twist, was all it took. It was all fluid, the movements like memorized dance manoeuvres from earlier on and both agents lay on the floor, knocked out by their own butt of the gun. Nikola tossed the weapon to the side with a sigh of hatred.

Stepping away from the Men that had been chasing her, the Girl shook her head as fear began to take over her rational thought, it would only take either a small shock or a moment of fury and she knew that she would be replaced by her Panther. Hearing the clicks of rapid heels, the girl turned her head as she saw a woman, dressed rather finely in black for a rescue but carrying a gun, pointed at one of the men who was closer to her. Sniffing at the air, the Street Wanderer tried to work out the woman's scent but then shots rang through the air which slightly stung her hearing so she closed her eyes and shook her head before noticing the man had passed out.

Looking back the women, the young woman noticed that the woman in black seemed concerned for her to the point that she shot a man twice for her and then seemingly... Called to her. Taking a step and a limp forward, the girl gazed into the woman's eyes to discern why the woman was doing this for her. Before she could get even remotely close, another one of the men grappled her seemingly from the shadows."Gotcha ya little thing!" He sneered as his grip tightened around her arm as she struggled to break free, "Get off me!" She cried, the pain in her leg becoming mixed in her arm which added to the rising anger she could feel; soon that changed as she felt her secret side come out as she slightly turned, her body starting to change as her eyes shifted to their feline green as she growled. "Leave me alone!" Her sentence slowly deepened in tone until the last word finished in the hiss of a cat as the scared young woman was replaced with a very angry Black Panther.

Rage and the smell of fear enticed the Panther as it sunk it's claws into it's prey, roaring in his face as clothes, a backpack and some shreds of tighter clothing fell away from it's black gleaming body. Seemingly grinning from the shock on it's prey, the Panther sank it's teeth into the male's neck and bite hard, breaking skin and tasting blood within in mouth as it forced it's weight on the Male, forcing him down onto the ground as he bleed to death and it swallowed some of the flesh and muscle. Lifting it's head once slightly satisfied that the first Prey wouldn't be able to run away, the Panther pounced onto the next one with all it's weight upon it's landing, claws outstretched and tearing into the fabric and skin quite deeply and then bouncing onto the last one, not quite as deeply but enough.

Once it leapt away, the Panther hissed in warning and as a challenge as it watched the two run away. Turning it's head to the Female, it walked towards her with a slight limp in it's back right leg; not as a predator, thankfully due to the rage being spent on attacking it's prey, but still cautious as it sniffed her to find out whether she was friend or foe. In it's eyes, a familiar glimmer began to appear as if the girl could still be seen in it's eyes.

A White Chevrolet Impala comes racing over toward Nikola by him the driver a young brunette sitting behind the wheel. She gets out hands up toward Nikola showing that the driver of the impala means him no harm. She looks him straight in the eye responding "Nikola it's me Abby I mean you no harm." She keeps her hands where he can see them.

Moving slowly she moves to the side to open the back side door for him then moving back out of the way hands still where Nikola can see them while she looks around to make sure there are no more SICU agents or any black marketers coming toward them. She motions slowly to the car responding "I came to help get you out of here safely if you are willing to trust me and go with me."

She waits for Nikola to choose if he trusts her enough to go with her or not but spotting someone moving behind Nikola she comes gripping his shoulder and pulling him down and around as she kicks the Agent who was coming up behind Nikola. Making sure to get him in the head to knock him out cold. Once the man is down and out she moves back away for Nikola putting her hands back where he can see she isn't going to hurt him.
