Nikola isn't the type to make friends easily, simply because he says what he thinks and often doesn't show any remorse after saying it. He doesn’t really care of the effects/affects or the outcome of what he says. He prefers working alone most of the time and can be a little hard to get along with. Only Helen, is one of the few people who can keep Nikola under some level of control. He classes what used to be The Five as true friends even if nobody liked him at Oxford. What? Because he was a genius and they were all jealous! Despite that face, Nigel and himself got on quite well with one another. Nigel, unlike the rest of the Five would actively trade barbs with Tesla when the others would try to ignore him. When meeting Griffin's descendant, Clara Griffin, who shared her grandfather's wit, Tesla grinned saying he liked her already when she stood up to him. Of all Helen's 'underlings' Tesla is 'forced' to work with Henry, he seems to have a special soft spot for Henry, perhaps seeing a bit of himself in the young Hap tech wizard. When frustrated by the Hollow Earth technology, it is to Henry that Nikola admits his feelings of inadequacy. Because they both share of love of technology- including but not limited to computers, applied science, mechanics and electro-magnetic fields- Nikola is usually seen working with the young Hap on their mutual problems. More often than not however, Tesla tends to treat Henry as an assistant or student rather than an equal. He is a hard character to trust, simply because he is always looking out for number one. Himself.

Young love, it’s so heartbreaking to observe as a scientist. So passionate so innocent, yet so utterly doomed. Nikola has been in love countless times my friend, see the difference is, he recognize, the emotion for what it really is, an irrational structure impulse that’s disguised as joy. Nikola is the flirtation type and tries his chances more often then he should. Tesla never married and stating his celibacy in the late 1800s made some people laugh. He mainly did that for extra publicity, claiming that his chastity was very helpful to his scientific abilities. This also gain him more respect with women and he loves the attention. Nonetheless there have been numerous accounts of women vying for Tesla's affection, even some madly in love with him. The hottie at SCIU was one of them. He seems to be easily talked into things like with the Vampire Queen Afina. She was perfect in Tesla's eyes and unlike someone her knew (Helen), The Vampire Queen actually shown interested him. Despite the fact Helen constantly spurns any romance between them, he himself admited he has always had a respect for her and that he loved her more than Druitt ever could. Tesla and Magnus have one of those relationships that is hard to define and that is mainly due to the fact that they are both so old! Crazy friendship, with this very unabashed sexual overtone to it from both of them. She’s anything but boring and that’s what Nikola loves about her and attracted her too him. When you have known someone for that long as they do, its almost as if that sexual tension is just explosive, but nothing can happen. Tesla has had a deep place in his heart for Helen, but knows that he will never be the love of her life, that the tall, bald and homicidal has got her heart strings. After 160 years it’s okay to have those twist, but you still got to work with the person. They are old friends which is based on competition, based on rivalry, respect, love of ideas and love of adventure. He is always bringing up memories of past adventures, its safe to say that Helen Magnus has Tesla under some sort of spell. Incredibly genius, incredibly stubborn, and they both love each other deeply, though both of them are loathed to admit it.

Nikola is prone to gain more foes then anything. His arrogance, stubbornness and bluntness as been known to get Tesla into and out of trouble for many a year, not caring how he effects people. Nikola's relationship with Druitt has never been perfect, with them both being rivals for Helen's affections in the early days of the Five. Defiantly, the deepest animosity between Druitt and himself and that will be interesting to see how that plays out. What kind of jealousy there is there. Nikola’s a pain in the ass really. Like the rest of the Five, Tesla turned his back on John when the truth of the Ripper incident became known. It was even implied John tried to pin some of his actions on Nikola when he was struggling to control his vampirism as it first emerged. It comes down to showmanship, who really has the most power and who can go to the extreme place, Druitt is an extreme character with such darkness. When we first met Tesla, that was certainly the way he was introduced, that he was the darkest, or had the most capacity for evil. Just don’t mock vampires! They aren’t allergic to garlic and can’t change into bats at will, that’s just insulting.

At the same time, there’s a wonderful respect to Nikola, you can see a more human side to him but it always come down to competition and past grudges. Its qualities of Tesla, that Tesla sees in Druitt, that Tesla reacts too the strongest. The things you don't like about a person, is often the qualities you have which result in you reacting the strongest too. Tesla has a certain destine for ordinary humans. And takes great pleasure in making that known, any chance that he can get he will make fun at how pathetic and weak regular humans are.

Helen Magnus:
I couldn't have said it better myself. We always seem to be at crossroads and we always seem to bicker with each other but clearly everyone knows you are the truest friend I have ever known and you are all that is left of my life before. Losing you is perhaps one of my greater fears anymore and I hope our friendship can continue on as it has but you must admit things have changed a little between us. I admire you and your brilliance and I have to admit you do make me laugh and always set me out on another one of your adventures even if they could have so easily been avoided...

Obviously we are so close that hundreds and thousand's of fan girls have come up with Teslen and Amanda Tapping and the writers agreed with that scenario...but lets keep that secret until the children catch onto us xD

Also I think it was hinted a lot we had something for a short time, I'll assume it was your doing that it ended being you tend to love yourself above everything else but I digress. You are a good friend Nikola. Life without you just wouldn't be living and we always have tomorrow. That is the beauty of us, I know we will always be the ones standing even when the rest of the world has fallen down around us. Who in this world do I want to be trapped into eternity with?
