“An unidentified object was captured on security cameras last night over Celeste City.”
“The object was then sighted heading towards the ocean and exploding into a dazzling show of blue lights. When asked to comment if enquiries would be made as to what caused the explosion the authorities refused to disclose information.”

Lips and teeth clashed in the dark, hands pulled and tugged at clothing until there was only the muffled sound of bodies, gasps and moans. Leon McKenzie sighed and pulled away from the young nurse who had agreed to a little rendezvous in the small linen supply closet that they were... busy in and adjusted himself and straightened his shirt and pants. The girl giggled and wiped at his lips and opened the door, letting the light from the hallway in. Nearly blinded, he leaned one arm casually against the edge of the door and grinned at her as she left, smoothing her dress down as she went. What a babe. Her hair was golden curls held away from her amazing face with little hairclips that chicks seem to love. Her eyes were that kind of colour mixed between green and grey and her lips... well those lips were supple and sweet. He gave her ass one flinal gaze then closed the door to the closet.
Flicking the light switch on, Leon used a towel from the nearest shelf to clean himself up and tossed it into the laundry bin before making his way back down the hall where his little cleaning cart was. He spotted the nurse he had just screwed chatting to a doctor. She caught his eye, winked then turned her attention back to what the doctor was saying. Leon shook his head and pushed his cart around the corner and grabbed the mop.
Sloshing the water onto the white tiling, Leon moved the mop back and forth on auto pilot. Normally he had a rule against doing chicks at the hospital where he worked. Caused too much crap and generally bit him on the ass. Even when he was trolling for chicks he lied about what he did for a living and usually gave them a fake address along with a fake number.
Squeezing the mop out and leaning it against the wall, Leon ran his fingers through his hair. If it wasn’t for his brother, both of them would be back in London living it up like they should be. He wouldn’t have to worry about the electricity or rent inspections or even learn how to cook. Instead he did have to worry about all those things. And cleaning a fricken hospital for a job. Good thing he loved his brother.

Lachlan couldn’t help slouching he’d been doing it for a week now and his posture wasn’t doing his back any favours. He was annoyed for being here aunty Loraine never called unless she wanted something and if it wasn’t for the fact that he felt like his cousin could do without the extra pressure he would have told her where to cash it in. He was through with his aunty and her petty nature, but when she had called because Annabelle was in the hospital he knew he had to go.
He always remembered Annie as an angelic little six year old with puppy eyes and a mouse like voice. What trailed behind him right now was a volatile sixteen year old who sniffed and said whatever a lot.
“You know you shouldn’t fight at school right? Your mum is going to have a fit. Hell Annie she’s already having a fit.”
“So what do you care?” Annie muttered.
Lachlan couldn’t help rolling his eyes. “I care because you just had your head stitched up and it could have been a lot worse, you should be studying not messing around bullying other girls for kicks.”
“A it’s none of your business, B you’re not my mum and C I don’t give a shit,” Annie said folding her arms over the Slipknot slogan on her shirt. Lachlan resisted the urge to smack a palm against his head.
Annie in her filthy mood ran right into a man with a mop bucket the water splashed over the legs of her black skinny jeans and her nostrials flared.
“Watch it you dick wad,” she snapped at the man.
“Annie,” Loki barked. No wonder Surreal had turned her phone off, he was starting to wish he’d done the same thing.
“Sorry,” Loki muttered watching Annie tromp away and flop down on a bench. “She’s got issues... Do you want me to help clean that up?”

Leon heard them coming but before he could give a warning, a young woman... correction, girl, ran into him, sloshing water from the mop bucket over her pants.
“Watch it you Dick wad!” The girl snapped and then trudged over to a bench and flopped down on the seat.
Leon raised his eyebrows, “Charming.” He looked her over and shook his head. Definitely too young and after the trouble back in London with his brother he didn't need to get in trouble here. His so called Father wouldn't be here to bail them out. Besides, he didn't do snot nosed kids with attitude problems the size of Venus.
“Annie!” Leon turned to see the man that had been walking with the young girl who was apparently called Annie. Such an innocent name for the brat that was sulking on the bench. “Sorry,” The man muttered, his gaze shifted back to Leon. “She’s got issues... Do you want me to help clean that up?”
Leon shook his head. “Nah, that’s alright. We all have issues at some stage of our lives right?” He grabbed the mop and began mopping up the excess water and squeezing it into the bucket. He paused for a moment, “That your sister?” Not that he could see any resemblance but surely the kid wasn't his daughter or something. Or maybe we was a little like Josh and liked them young. Nah, that wasn't it. He was acting like an exasperated parent or something.

Lachlan reddened a little when the man commented on how ‘charming’ Annie was. His younger cousin slouched on the bench her narrowed eyes accentuated by the thick black eye pencil and black shadow. She looked like she could have been the love child of an emo and a panda bear. He’d never gotten teens that wore black and wore a chip on their shoulders. When he’d been growing up, you just didn’t get around like that unless you wanted to be socially terminated.
“Are you sure?” Loki said a little taken back. He’d expected a firm telling off, or a mouthful, but not acceptance. He frowned at Annie and looked back at the man. “I guess, but I swear the issues get less and the attitude gets more with each generation.”
He stepped back allowing the man to mop up the spilt water.
“If that was my sister I’d be hauling her out by her ear,” Lachlan reassured the man. “She’s my younger cousin although sometimes I wonder if we came from the same planet at all... She makes me glad I was never blessed with a sister. Are you sure you don’t want a hand?”
Annie rolled her eyes and stopped her feet on the ground. “Come on Loki!” she called out. “I’m bored let’s leave the hired help alone and go have an ice cream. Maybe swing by the CD shop.”
“Oh I suppose that’s what your older sister would allow after this stunt?” he asked.
Annie pouted and hung her head so her hair covered her eyes. This was turning out to be a nightmare after they were done he was taking her straight to the PD let Real deal with her this wasn’t his problem.

Leon smiled wryly and shook his head. She had sass. If she was a few years older he would so tap that. Annie shot him a dirty look before returning to slumping like the temperamental person she was on the bench.
“So what happened to her, why the visit?” He asked, placing the mop back into the bucket and carrying the whole lot to the cleaning cart. “Did she flip someone off one time too many?”
Leon looked up before this Loki character could respond, as a deliciously good looking woman strode down the hall, her high heels clicking on the tiled floor. Dressed in a pencil skirt, blouse and high heels, Leon wanted to fall to his knees and beg her to spank him.
“Hello.” She said before turning her attention to Annie.
Leon looked her up and down and grinned at her, “Hey yourself.” He grabbed the bottle of glass cleaner and a cloth to start cleaning the window next to him, almost pretending not to listen in. Family arguments that he wasn’t involved in always interested him.
“If my sister is in any way responsible for this I apologise.”
Leon stopped what he was doing and turned to face the woman. “She only knocked a bit of water onto the floor.” He looked her up and down, “but tell you what though, why don’t I give you my number and you can take me out to apologise to me that way?”

Lachlan didn’t like where this was going, The way the guy said her name the look on his face. All signs that he was interested. He wanted to take Surreal by the jacket and drag her out of the hospital right there and then. His cousin, sadly, didn’t seem aware of what was going on. He hated to admit it but what had happened to her, it didn’t surprise him. She was so smart in some ways, and such a fool in others.
Lachlan looked to Annie just as she gave the janitor the finger again.
“So Gross,” she said rolling her eyes.
“Lachlan Ambrose,” he said to the janitor. “Surreal‘s cousin, I feel more like a brother to her though.”
He made sure what he said was pointed. He would protect her. She deserved that much from him. He put out a hand for the man to shake waiting for the whole, aren’t you that surfer line, he was sick of hearing it. He wasn’t that surfer any more. He would never be again.
Surreal was paying attention now, studying him thoughtful, one thing he had to say for her, she knew him, knew his moods well and seemed like she was ready to go.
“You‘re a busy woman Surreal, it‘s possibly you won‘t make that date right?”
He almost sounded hopeful and winced hoping that if the man realised it, he at least understood. He didn’t look like the type he could take aside and tell, broken buddy, off limits.

Holy shit it had actually worked! He didn’t even expect to pull someone like her while wearing a cleaners uniform, which granted wasn’t too bad, just dark blue scrub type pants and a black polo shirt with his name on the little nametag attached just above the left breast pocket.
“Lachlan Ambrose,” he said to the janitor. “Surreal‘s cousin, I feel more like a brother to her though.”
“Well Lachlan, pleasure to meet you and I think Surreal is a lucky lady to have such a caring family member to look out for her.” He shook his hand and grinned, still not believing he had managed to sway Surreal into a possible date. Sure, she looked like the type that would prefer a ‘relationship’ and all that sort of nonsense but hey, he was willing to take her along for a ride until, of course, he got her in bed. Then it would be the usual routine of saying thanks babe that was great and leaving before she could burst into tears.
The only problem that Leon could see was Lachlan. If he was getting all protective he might come after him. And the bastard knew where he worked. This was why he only tried to pull chicks out of uniform and not on the job. Except for the hot nurse he occasionally had sex with because she knew the rules. He didn’t do ‘Boyfriend’; it just wasn’t who he was.
Surreal gave him a gentle smile and suggested he call so they could arrange something and with the way Lachlan and Surreal were looking at each other, Leon figured there was a little family tension aside from Annie getting in to fist fights or whatever she was in here getting fixed up for.
“I’ll look forward to it.” He gave Surreal and another bone melting grin that usually worked, nodded to Lachlan and packed up his cleaning supplies. “See you around some time Lachlan. Have a good one mate.” He paused as he started pushing the cleaning cart and turned back. “Oh, and Annie? Keep out of trouble, yeah?”
