I read this review: http://www.examiner.com/examiner/x-18047-T...erelease-review

At the end the reviewer mentions one of the reason the game didn't get a 10/10 review, was cause the bright colors might not appeal to male gamers.

Excuse me? How dare a game exist without appealing solely to men, is what I'm hearing. It really infuriates me, particularly because the reviewer is female, that she would be so ignorant of the prevailing sexism towards women in gaming.

The game should get a 10/10, because it managed to be successful despite entering into a field of gaming, that is considered men only. That it also does appeal to men, as much as women. It's ridiculous to suggest the review should be less, because it doesn't have such "mature" game standards as revealing clothing.

Also the reviewer was surprised at how many adults were playing a "children's" game, because you know any game appealing to women must be deemed or dismissed as childish, right? If it has any amount of cuteness, it must only be for 5 year olds! Silly women, what are they doing playing with childrens' toys when they could be in the kitchen making their husband food. angry.gif

I guess it must be shocking, that there are adults who can keep their minds off of the birds and bees long enough to play a game, not involving reference to the former. Heaven forbid, these adults should be respected instead of referred to as childlike, because they're not engaging in proper "adult" pursuits. Which in most cases, involve the same sort of immature behavior of, "I want this NOW!" that one can expect from a child.

I don't mean to offend anyone here who are children, I'm trying to make the point that actually the adults who play games that are family friendly, act much more adult than the adults who play games targeted at an older age. That I'm tired of the patronizing assumption, that there must be something odd going on if an adult should choose to play a game that doesn't involve overt violence, particularly in regards to women.

Nintendo does an excellent job of respecting female gamers. I wish everyone else could follow suit. I just need to rant about this, cause really, it's so insulting to say this game gets a lower rating cause it doesn't appeal to the male majority. Women play games too, and they do deserve games that appeal to them, not just contending with playing around some man's fantasy.

*No offense to the men here BTW, I hope this didn't come off as male bashing or something.
