The X-Men are dealing with the repercussions of their big reveal and a new enemy is threatening them and the peaceful residents of District X, the new mutant slum. But rumor has it something big is about to happen for mutantkind.
It has been six months since the Brotherhood was scattered. Five months since the massacre of the Morlocks.
The Mutant Registration Act is gaining political support, though the Mutant Response Division has been fairly quiet so far. There's a potential enemy around every corner for mutants these days.

Since Erik had been in the city, he has recruited many different mutants for many different reasons, but what he was lacking, he actually needed the most. Erik had been so focused on the construction of Genosha that he began recruiting engineers, scientists, and other types of people to help him build his nation, but so far he had neglected a few crucial pieces to the puzzle. The most outstanding of those was the recruitment of an army, which he had time to build, but more importantly, someone to train that army, and act as his personal bodyguard. Erik knew when his country had revealed itself he would be back on the top of the list of dangerous enemies of The United States. He also happened to have other powerful enemies who wished to see him dead. Erik would need protection, or he would fall.
Now, Erik had plenty of people at his disposal, but a bodyguard had to be two things: One, extremely skilled as well as capable, and two, loyal to a fault. Erik needed someone who could handle any threat that he could possibly face, as well as someone he could bring with him anywhere. To find a person with both of those qualities was extremely hard. When Erik listed the names of his top elites, it was hard to find someone that was suitable. Sabertooth had the first part down, but he couldn’t completely trust him without a single doubt. At times, Sabertooth had been more loyal to Weapon X. Pietros was out of the picture, and he wouldn’t put his two daughters at risk. Bloody Mary was more of a business woman than anything. Mystique was too ambitious. Pyro didn’t have the tactical know how, and neither did Blob.
Speaking of Blob, Erik had heard Spry was living with Blob at the moment. She was a talented young woman with the power of healing and kinetic absorption. It wasn’t just her powers that made her unique though. She was an incredible fighter who could do it all. Hand to hand, swords, and guns. She was the exact person Erik needed. Now, it was just time to give her a visit. Erik had established safe houses for some of the people in his organization. Blob was probably living at one of those safe houses, and Erik had a feeling he knew exactly which one.
As Erik approached the door, he nonchalantly peered through the window, looking for any sign that someone was living there. The windows were closed up tight, Erik could feel the door was locked on multiple different levels, and he could feel the metal of the AC vibrating. Someone was definitely using the place. Erik put his hand on the door, feeling the metal inside the wood frame. With a simple twist, the locks were open and Erik freely entered. Sure, he could have knocked, but if Ivy was here, he wanted to test exactly how she responded to intruders.

AND I'M DAMNED IF I DO AND I'M DAMNED IF I DON'T SO HERE'S TO DRINKS IN THE DARK, AT THE END OF MY ROPE AND I'M READY TO SUFFER AND I'M READY TO HOPE IT'S A SHOT IN THE DARK AIMED RIGHT AT MY THROAT 'CAUSE LOOKING FOR HEAVEN, FOR THE DEVIL IN ME. LOOKING FOR HEAVEN, FOR THE DEVIL IN ME BUT WHAT THE HELL, I'M GONNA LET IT HAPPEN TO ME, YEAH.
The meeting in Central Park had gone slightly different than her plans when she first left the apartment. For starters she had no intention to find mutants of any kind let alone Niamh, Pietro and that basket case she forgot the name of. Sure, they were the closest to old friends she had but they also seemed to have a different intake on what move to make next. She didn’t need to be a genius to know that the Pietro’s hovering eyes weren’t on the scared humans around him but on the few mutants that would dare show their faces. For the most part the most obvious and out there gamma mutants kept a safe distance so she was still unsure who Pietro was trying to find, if anyone. It was odd how things were more confusing now than they were before when she had no idea where anyone really was. Anyone but Blob that is.
All faults aside, there was no denying she owed that giant ball of mess big time. She not only owed him for letting her stay in the apartment above the crummy abandoned gym he used as a playground but also for sharing his toys, sort of. She was aware she was not an easy breezy person and that mostly she just came out as annoying but there was some comfort knowing her landlord couldn’t care less about her business. He proved so when he crossed paths with her by the stairs and said nothing, just growled a little and walked outside. It was rare to see him outside and a little unsettling too. She could feel it in her bones that other mutants were starting to pick up on how something was up.
It was hard to explain but she felt it in her bones that change was coming and that it didn’t mean it was for the good or bad. Even though the Brotherhood survivors were scattered around she knew eventually they’d get tired of hiding. In fact, as long as she was being honest to herself she was pretty tired of it too. Everything was dull and everything seemed uninteresting when you couldn’t do what you want at all times. Truth was, back at the Brotherhood sight she really loved being able to practice whatever she wanted out in the open and she absolutely hated that stupid outdated gym that was half broken because of Blob’s misuse.
With a less than gentle bang, she closed and locked her door automatically. Trully there was no real need to do that simple thing. If a burglar got in he or she would be in tro-ouble and the real reason she was granted that place was because Blob couldn’t fit through the narrow stairs that led to her apartment so…no need to worry about that. Still, it seemed like a good idea to keep everything locked, especially living alone. She tossed her keys on the tiny kitchen counter and made her way to the bedroom, removing her shoes and plopping down messily on the neatly done bed. The AC was finally starting to fill in the place and it felt nice compared to the 100+ temperature outside.
In other times she wouldn’t have allowed herself to close her eyes and get lost in thoughts but since she had nothing better to do she just, once, lost herself in her own thoughts. The Brotherhood. Exodus blowing up a bunch of buildings like it was play dough. Her brother. The central park encounter. Mutant registration. Everything started flashing before her eyes like a weird slideshow of random events until almost instantly her eyes opened briskly and she heard the very obvious cringing of metals. In a swift, soundless move she tiptoed to the wall and rested her back against it, tilting her head to listen better from the open door separating her kitchen/living room from her bedroom. The locks were opening but she was 100% sure Blob couldn’t fit through the stairs and nobody else could have gotten their hands on her keys, this was all she needed to know this person was a threat.
Her eyes flickered around and she practically kicked herself for not bringing any of her usual weapons to the bedroom. In a matter of seconds she thought through her options and just decided the best thing was to wait for the sound of their steps and then figure out what were her best moves against them. It was risky but she was well trained and there was a reason she was nicknamed spry. Also she hoped secretly her agility would be enough in case it was some weird X-Men bullshit mutant meddling in other’s business. The door opened and immediately her eyes narrowed and she cleared her mind from anything and just focused on sounds. One person. Not too heavy or too light. She waited for them to make another move and she could practically hear their breathing close to the bedroom door. Instinctively she grasped the intruder’s neck and slammed him to the doorjamb, taking unusual few seconds to recognize his face. Well, not the face but she knew the eyes.
”Wh—How—Nice botox job.” Immediately she let go of Erik’s neck and shot him an apologetically look for nearly choking him and…well for being so damn inappropriate too. She was just not expecting this today of all days.

Clink. The metal lock turned, opening the door allowing Erik to entrance. His hand reached out grabbing the handle and opened it walking in, and closing the door behind him. However, that would be his last step into the house. Before he could even realize it himself, there was a hand around his neck. The air was escaping from his lungs, and a snort was let out. His airways tightened, and if he didn’t do something fast, it would be all over. He had to concentrate long enough to mold the closest metal, which had been the door knob and bolt. Erik’s eyes became fierce. He sent her a sharp and unrelenting glare, but as Erik was about to act he felt the hand on his neck release its grip.
Erik gasped for air. His face was red, and his forehead was even a little wet from sweat. His hands dropped to his knees as he was continuously trying to catch his breath. As he finally did, he had a chance to finally process everything that had happened. Literally before he could fully walk into the house she was able to detect his presence, and then react as soon as he closed the door giving her privacy to react in any manner she wanted, and on top of that, she was able to recognize him before she choked him to death. Now, normally, that wouldn’t be that commendable if Erik was a normal person, but he wasn’t a normal person. On top of being one of the most powerful mutants in the world, he also had military training which made him quite a formidable person. Of course the battle had not fully taken place, but she definitely did enough to show off her skill, and more importantly impress Erik.
Also, the fact that she was able to recognize him… that was probably the most impressive thing she had done. She had seen his face for no more than a few seconds. In Erik’s experiences, he only paid attention to those he really respected or cared about. Charles Xavier for example. He could age, de-age, or whatever, but Erik could spot him. He knew his actions, he knew his face, he knew the way he looked at a man. Erik could do that for both his son, and his daughters. The fact that Ivy was able to do it for Erik, well that meant she had seriously paid attention to him, and seeing as how the last time he was around, he had the body of an 86 year old man, he didn’t think it was because he was good looking. No, the only reason could have been she really believed in what he was saying, and what he was trying to do. She had become a disciple to him… an acolyte.
However, Erik was getting ahead of himself. This was all based on one singular observation done in the heat of a small struggle. He had no solid evidence or proof of how she thought of him, and his cause. Erik’s body straightened up and his eyes once again peered into hers. ”You recognize me Spry?” he asked. He knew she did of course, but it was still astonishing to him. Erik took a few more steps in and took a seat on the couch. The two had a lot to talk about obviously. First he thought he would explain his sudden appearance change. He knew the question was coming, so why not get it out of the way. ”I found a way to reduce my age.” he said obviously, ”My body had become too old for the types of battles we are about to face. I needed to be at full strength again.” And he was at full strength. Before he had been de-aged, he was barely able to take on two or three sentinels at a time, but now, he wasn’t sure if there was a number he couldn’t take on.
”But, I’m sure you’re wondering why I’m here…” he spoke again. She probably had an idea, which was getting the brotherhood together, but what she didn’t know is what role she would take. ”As you probably heard, my son Pietro no longer believes I am capable of leading the Mutant Revolution.” Erik’s sight fell to the floor as he spoke that last comment. Erik had gained so much in the last few months, but lost so much as well. He lost his base, so much of his support, and a son. If he had the strength he had now, it would not have happened. The attack would have strengthened their cause instead of almost destroying it. ”However,” he said his eyes coming back up to meet Ivy’s, ”That leaves some important positions open. I’m rebuilding my inner circle, and from what I’ve seen today, I want you to be my personal bodyguard.”

Ivy’s codename stood for “quick, agile, lively”, it had been given to her by her own father when she was a young child and in all honesty back then he probably meant to use it more for the lively part than anything else. Like most mutants her powers only really started to manifest during puberty but part of her, even if just a small fraction, always had an extra energy, something that kept her going even when other kids seemed to be exhausted. If her father hadn’t been the way he was he’d be prone to confuse it for ADD or some other random human condition but in many levels he knew Ivy and her brother were already special. Needless to say that her agility had led her to problems since as much as she’d like to say she was a “think first, act later” kind of person…well, that was far from the case. She couldn’t help herself and at times she even felt powerless of her own muscles and limbs.
Today was one of those days. In no way she could’ve anticipated whatever would happen to her. Maybe if that was her power but she never met someone that could see the future and if she had she’d make sure they were around that way she’d know that early that day she would’ve seen Pietro and that just as she was coming back from that unplanned rendezvous she’d meet his father. There was no doubt that she was standing in front of Magneto and even though she hadn’t been in the brotherhood as long as some people it was enough to learn of his mannerism and most of all his eyes. With time she learned that the way someone looked was nothing compared to how their eyes would manifest, even shape shifters had some trouble mastering eyes mannerism.
Although she didn’t have any particular interest other than respect for her former leader, she had made a point to pay closer attention to his eyes just as much as she had with other people. It was probably a very analytical way of working but she just operated better like that and it had finally paid out. She barely gave him any time to react to both her nearly strangling him as well to her recognizing him when he was supposed to be dead or something. That was the unofficial story every mutant she met would say and sometimes she’d see herself starting to believe too except now she was given a first hand news that that was far from true.
Without her even considering asking for further explaining on his brand new looks, he started to tell her about de-aging and how he was old before and almost automatically she nodded in agreement. It might have been rude but thinking of a strategic point of view, Magneto was right, the old man body could have slowed him down and put him in more danger than he’d like to be. In fact, it was quite impressive that he managed to run from the sentinels and for a split second Ivy wondered if he had any extra help. Slowly like a cat she moved around him when he sat on the couch and finally she settled on an armchair in front of him, plopping down soundlessly and listening carefully to what Magneto would say.
It was pretty obvious how similar Magneto and Quicksilver were, even though they’d probably disagree but facts spoke louder. Just a few hours after hearing Pietro’s speech about starting his own Brotherhood, his father was stating to be doing the same and more than ever Ivy felt torn. The truth was, she trusted Magneto’s instinct a lot more than she did with Pietro but mostly because she didn’t know just how serious he was about his plans or if, like many of the old Brotherhood mutants, he was just looking to cause mayhem. Magneto wasn’t like that and she knew it from before that he actually had plans, and those fell through with the sentinel attack. Now, any other person would’ve just retaliated in the height of their anger but the fact he hadn’t only made Ivy’s sense that she should trust him rather than his son even stronger.
”I’ve heard a thing or two about Quicksilver. In fact, I literally just came back from hearing that…I’m actually kind of flattered, the two of you in one day?” She grinned just a little in a feble attempt to loosen up her own mood and couldn’t help but changing that expression to complete awe. Bodyguard? She had never actually protected anyone else but herself ever since she mastered her powers and it seemed like this could be more than she bargained for. Unless she was sure that they would in fact do something about the attack. ”I’ll do that. Gladly, just as long as you guarantee me that this whole waiting around will be worth it in the end. If you tell me there will be consequences to the people that ordered the attack and all other assholes that support that then I will gladly take a bullet in that process. Although that’d be a little hard all things considered…”
Like that she had agreed to get back to the Brotherhood. She had never really had ambitions when it came to her “rank” in it but apparently now she was agreeing to be in Magneto’s own personal circle and that felt like the right way to go.
