SETTING
AUGUST 2012
The X-Men are dealing with the repercussions of their big reveal and a new enemy is threatening them and the peaceful residents of District X, the new mutant slum. But rumor has it something big is about to happen for mutantkind.

It has been six months since the Brotherhood was scattered. Five months since the massacre of the Morlocks.

The Mutant Registration Act is gaining political support, though the Mutant Response Division has been fairly quiet so far. There's a potential enemy around every corner for mutants these days.

RESOLUTIONS
Six months ago, everything was fine. Or as 'fine' as anything could ever be in the struggle for survival in a world that hates and fears mutants. Then Project Wideawake was unveiled - the Sentinel initiative, a new age of technology to combat the mutant menace and make the world safer for humanity. At least, that was what it said on the posters. There were Sentinels to fight and mutants disappearing off the streets, but things were far from over. They managed to find the terrorist group known as the Brotherhood, destroying their hideout in January and scattering the survivors, but they didn't stop there.

The mutant group known as the Morlocks, sewer dwellers in New York City with physical mutations too extreme to ever blend in with human society on the surface, was identified and almost entirely eliminated in one night. No one even knew. Except the mutants. And whoever listened to them?

One among their number had heard enough. The immortal Exodus and his acolytes destroyed three city blocks in New York City, an area known now as the Epicenter. A crater where skyscrapers and sidewalks and busy city streets used to be. Exodus and his followers vanished after one night of fighting with the X-Men, and no one can quite say why, all they know is that Mutant Registration will be on the ballot in November now. This proved the point of the worst nay-sayers - one mutant with an ax to grind could organize this, and much worse. They had to take action.

The only thing stopping a full-out genocide of the mutant race was one Charles Xavier. When he publicized footage of the Morlock Massacre, he outed himself as a mutant (and by extension, his school as a mutant haven). The vote was still on, but the Sentinels were decommissioned. Opening fire on children instead of capturing them proved they had gone too far. Xavier vanished, leaving his team exposed and confused.

Somehow, they have to pull it together, organizing the forces that didn't die fighting Exodus in the newly rebuilt Institute. What's left of the Brotherhood has been scattered, with no organization or goals. The mutant population has been decimated in recent months.

Will you rebuild or rebel?
