JANUARY 5th,
Any other day Pietro would never have gone to the Statue of Liberty but he was feeling a little closed in at the Brotherhood. You really never got away with doing stupid and reckless things where as with these regulars you could just about cause a scene with anything you did. Even… a panic, that was his favourite thing to do. Pietro didn’t need to take any boat across to the statue; no he could run at top speeds so fast that it was as though his feet never hit the water.
The place was crawling with tourists as usual. Somehow people found it interesting to stop by and see a giant statue of a woman. He didn’t quite understand it nor did he really care all that much. They just made it that much easier to mess around with their simple minds. Then an idea came to mind. It was something that would cause a stir in the crowd. In one swift movement Pietro had now found himself on the very tippy top of the statues head. He looked down over the edge towards the ground; it was a good enough height. Pietro raised his fingers to his mouth and gave a loud whistle to gather the attention of the simple folk below him. His silver hair glinted in the sunshine that had peaked out from beyond the clouds. He heard some people shriek out in shock. Just the attention he was waiting for.
As though putting on the act that life was not worth living for anymore, he paused just to hear someone say it, `Don’t jump!’ he knew someone would say it, and that was the last straw for everyone who’s attention was directed at him, those who were inside the statue were trying to convince him that he shouldn’t jump, if only they knew.
A quick smirk and he was already diving towards the hard ground. Screams of despair echoed through the air but he never hit the ground, or so they didn’t see him. Pietro had caught himself in midair. Leaving them all completely stunned, he knew that they were not in doubt that they had been tricked by a mutant. They just didn’t know who. The speedster was already across the water back on the mainland before he could hear the angered calls from the tourists. Now that he was back in the city there were a few more things that he wanted to do. Cause a little hell in the bank, pull off one of the best robberies ever, but that was a little old news, mutants were doing that so much it was like taking candy from a baby.
