SETTING
AUGUST 2012
The X-Men are dealing with the repercussions of their big reveal and a new enemy is threatening them and the peaceful residents of District X, the new mutant slum. But rumor has it something big is about to happen for mutantkind.
It has been six months since the Brotherhood was scattered. Five months since the massacre of the Morlocks.
The Mutant Registration Act is gaining political support, though the Mutant Response Division has been fairly quiet so far. There's a potential enemy around every corner for mutants these days.

JUNE 1 2012
Our second big announcement is up. We've moved ahead to August in our in-character time, so all new threads will be considered set in August. Also, note the nifty new event threads? There are more on the way in the near future, including one for the Upstarts etc.
So keep an eye out for what we've got coming up around the site.

aleksander 'paladin' medici ,Telepath. Telekinetic. Exiles. 40's.this is the eldest brother to josephine medici, a former member of the brotherhood turned exiles after they scattered. well known for his vast protective streak he's more or less claimed his sister as off limits for years before she switched sides, and his territorial streak when it came to her has only increased. though both a telepath and a telekinetic, aleksander's powers are primarily seen in his telepathy, due to the nature of his connection with his younger sister. he's one of three telepaths in her head, and really the only one naturally aware that her control has become non-existent due to his actions against their brother. everything else regarding him is wide open at least personality wise, though he should be slightly worse than his sister. history wise, aleksander's been with the brotherhood and then the exiles since practically day one give or take a few years, and whether or not he willingly relinquished his claim to his father's title is up to whomever takes him [though he also could have done so at his sister's insistence.] what is not common knowledge to many people is that his daughter is augusta medici - the telepath mostly responsible for keeping the damage from josephine's powers minimal. of course, he tends to ignore he presence because they are on opposing sides but aleksander isn't sure how much longer that is going to last. aleks behind closed doors still holds the belief that his younger sister shouldn't have switched sides, but he can understand her reasoning, unlike her he wanted mutants to become well known to the world, and he knows that if that's the reason why she switched sides, there's only a matter of time before she switches back. or so he thinks - aleks doesn't know his sister as well as he used to. note: his aging is slowed due to unconfirmed manipulations of josephine's powers, other suspect there may be another reason for it. suggested play by: open. note: he'll be npc'd until he's taken.augusta 'cortex' medici ,Telepath. X-men. Niece. 24.the eldest niece to josephine medici, augusta is the daughter to aleksander medici and his now deceased fiance. though certainly not a powerful telepath like her father, augusta can hold her own though there's a scar buried deep in the recesses of her mind from having to wrestle her aunt's powers under control even if for a short period of time. augusta would be unable to do so again, the amount of strain probably enough where it could kill her a second time. nevertheless, at her age she tends to hide much of this. augusta's been a student at xavier's most of her life - since she was fifteen when her powers began to show and her father seemingly refused to teach her. it's part of the reason she's still on that side, though she understand perfectly why josephine switched sides and became an exile she also knows that it will only last for so long. despite what she pretends, josephine isn't as good at hiding things as she looks, especially when one is trying to hide things from a telepath. known for more for her part in the x-men team than she is a professor, augusta tends to sit on the sidelines, using her telepathy as a defensive measure rather than offensive, simply because she doesn't want to come up against another telepath more powerful than her. personality wise she's wide open as well as her history, just keep in mind how closely connected she is with josephine. otherwise, everything else is up to whomever takes her. there are suspicions that augusta may herself be contemplating switching side, though if this were true she likely would have already done so. [again, if whomever takes her wants her to switch sides for whatever reason, run it by me before hand.] suggested play by: open.nicholas 'vex' selva ,Telepath. Neutral. Confidant. 39.nicholas selva is a powerful telepath almost on part with josephine's eldest brother. a former member of the hellfire club, nicholas turned neutral before josephine switched sides. the two had been for years on again off again significant others because she temporarily cut tied, only leaving the telepathic link between the two intact. he's found himself once again involved in her life after he was hit with the backlash of her loss of control - he doesn't blame her but he does blame her elder brother. his once cordial relationship with aleksander medici has turned sour and oftentimes deadly. the two can come to heads at time, though as josephine has stated, not in her head. nicholas like her brother refuses to do any unnecessary harm to her, and while he's certainly trying to med their relationship, he's going to have to settle for being friends because aleksander seems to be unwilling to let him anywhere within five feet of his sister. nicholas maintains his neutrality within the strictest sense though he still possesses vast underground connections with the hellfire club, he's also not funding them any more, unwilling to believe that sebastian shaw, the man who had recruited him had funded the sentinels. over the past few months nicholas has been courted by both shaw and the x-men either side trying to gain another ally, and once again he maintains a strict neutrality, behind closed doors he willingly admits that if he is going to switch sides he'd be joining the exiles if he and aleks could reach some sort of cordial agreement again, or something of the sort. personality wise, he's supposed to be a balance of some sort to josephine, though not by much. he can be as bad as her temper wise if he's pushed to far, especially by another telepath. suggested play by: open.valerie 'tempest' medici ,Niece. Weather Manipulation. Exiles. 19.valerie is the youngest niece to josephine, the daughter of nicolas medici. at her age, valerie's control is better than it appears, probably in part due to her uncle's blocks. unlike her cousin, augusta her relationship with aleksander is far better than it appears, though as valerie has figured out as the years progressed, he's keeping a tight leash on her control because he's not wanting to see the same thing he saw in his sister. like josephine, valerie has some control issues, and emotional problems so much so that if she was allowed too much leeway she'd probably have the same issue as her aunt. personality wise, valerie is a hell of a lot like josephine, she's got a cruel streak a mile wide, and a temper that would probably put her aunt's to shame if she was ever pissed off. but of course, she's more than anything all sunshine and puppies, no one is ever going to believe that she's got a deadly temper because no one has really crossed her. as her uncle seems to put it, she's as untouchable as josephine, and enough people have seen her uncle when he's angry that she doubts they are going to cross that line. everything else regarding valerie is wide open, including if you want to change her power or her codename, though in context while neither are final they should both be run by be before any changes happen. it's up to whomever takes her what her final relationship with josephine is. suggested play by: open.nicolas medici ,Empath. X-men. Brother. 40's.like his elder brother, nicolas aging is slowed due to manipulations from josephine's powers. a member of the x-men, nicolas spends more of his time now as a teacher than he does as a member of the team, partially because he doesn't want to come up against his own sister if they ever fight the exiles. even if josephine has switched sides, nicolas is unable to bring himself to hate her for it, fortunately he seems to understand her reasoning perfectly, and of course there is another reason for this. while nico always possessed a close bond with his younger sister, it was nowhere near s deep or influence as the one that aleks held with her, so he's not surprised that the pull aleksander has over their younger sister is greater than his. that's not to say that he thinks aleks manipulated her mentally, unlike some people he is well aware that his elder brother would never do that, but still he might be a little off base. formerly well known for his refined control when it came to his empathic abilities, his powers have grown in recent months putting his control on the edge, probably on par with his sister if he ever dared to push it that far. nico and his niece, augusta remain the only members of their family sided with the x-men, and he's also chosen to not remain a part of the team because of his daughter. valerie's mother was nicolas's now deceased wife, a woman that absolutely abhorred his younger sister to the point where the two were deadly rivals. nico has never proven it, but he suspects that josephine may have had a hand in her death - not that he'd ever reveal it, for all that his sister is, and for what side she's on, she'd never bring herself to willingly kill anyone - without a reason before hand that is. suggested play by: open.giovanni medici ,Blood Manipulation. Exiles . Brother. Manipulative.only a few years older than josephine, giovanni is her third elder brother, and the only whose aging is not slowed by her powers. he's a former brotherhood member turned member of the exiles, and his relationship with his younger sister has slowly been degrading. the two were close earlier, but as the years progressed he began to slowly turn against her because of her deep connections with their elder brothers. giovanni made a mistake of going against aleksander their eldest brother three years ago, when he made it clear he would do everything he could to take his own sister out of the equation, the backlash - more likely the mental attacks of his eldest brother have left giovanni partially insane, and this has gotten worse because he has no balance. while josephine has been slowly trying to earn his trust again, giovanni has more or less pushed her aside, his distrust for his own sister heightened by the fact that she likely knew of their elder brother's actions. as much of an exile as he is, he's more neutral than anything else simply because he tries to not to partake in anything for the sake that he doesn't want to come to heads with his own family. behind closed doors however, giovanni hides one greater secret from the rest of his family. whatever aleksander did to create the insanity also seems to have created more backlash. slowly but surely, giovanni is dying - either because aleksander discovered another part of his power - or as he suspects, josephine is slowly leaching his lifeforce from him. he wouldn't be surprised if it was his sister since she doesn't take too kindly to fights within her family or betrayal by anyone. suggested play by: open.
