history: Nicholas Grimm himself doesn’t remember much of it, or it got mingled with the weird hallucinations in his mind.
But truth is:
Nicholas Grimm was the last of a long line of cops, all great cops who were incorruptible. It wasn’t a surprise to anyone’s when young Nick wanted to follow the family’s line of work. In the police force, he had a meteoric rise, making justice to his family name, he rose rapidly through the ranks, making a name for himself. That was until he got tangled in a case investigating a missing child. He knew the kid wouldn’t live long if he wasn’t fast tracking the psycho who had gotten her, so he spent sleepless nights investigating it. Finally he got the criminal and found the kid, only to discover he was too late. Enraged, he shot the criminal, point blank between the eyes, it was his downfall.
He was expelled from the truth and began a self-destructive spiral into a bottle. He blamed himself for not being fast enough to save an innocent child. But the mother of the child wasn’t satisfied by that, if the cop had been faster, her baby would still be alive, she also blamed him…and mommy was a witch. She wanted Nicholas to suffer…forever. She cursed him, even if he died, he would return through the gates of hell to suffer and die again and again. His mind would be plagued by hallucinations that wouldn’t allow him to know truth from hallucination, driving him forever insane.
Yes, Nicholas Grimm got royally screwed.
