The night planned to be a fun one. Already she had boned with her band mates far better than she once had thought she would. And of course, one of the more optimistic ones she connected to with like bees to honey. She just had that sweet persona about her that could lure you in, even when you didn’t want to be friends. Kang Soo Bin. She had thought before that perhaps she was just hyped up from the K-Pop star show, but after seeing her in rehearsal and how passionate she was for her career, Jae Hee knew that she was the real deal. Everyone in her group seemed like they would be the type to continue careers even after Bana was long and gone.

Dressed up in an outfit Bana’s stylist had chosen, she had made sure to dress herself up with her hair pinned and makeup lightly glossed. She had kissed her puppy at home Basha good night, telling her that she was actually going out with a female friend for once. It was so hard for Jae Hee to make these types of allies, simply because she didn’t like to participate in all the gossiping and drama. She had always been one of the guys and acted as such in public. Not exactly the sex image that so many thought her to be. In real life she was just relaxed and carefree, with a little dash of spunk.

Instead of taking a car and the such there, Jae Hee wanted to remain a little low key while she still could, before their publicity became too much and they wouldn’t be able to walk the streets of Seoul without a mob of people surrounding them from behind. Even though she was in high heels that would kill a woman if she stood in them too long, she was willing to risk the pain for just a little normalcy.

Once she had finished rehearsal in the SaSa building she had gotten herself showered and dolled up, strolling her way down to Soo Bin’s house, which was a bit far from the office building itself. Just a few blocks and it gave Jae Hee a few moments to herself as she tried to take in everything new that was going on.

Upon reaching Soo Bin’s home she pulled out her overly large cellphone, dialing her number on the screen in a text message.

It had been a while since Soo Bin had last gone out for the sake of just having fun. After K-Pop Star all that time permitted her to do was run around from one doctor appointment to another, in order to treat her vocal nodules, as well as meetings for various companies. Even after she decided upon signing with SASA entertainment, her life revolved around training and more training in order to prep for BANA’s up and coming debut. Everything was happening so quickly that she barely had time to see the seasons changing. But now that a time slot had freed up in her schedule, she was ready to take full advantage of it, especially if it meant hanging out with her new band mate. She was eager to get closer to and bond with all the members, including Min Jae Hee. So with the last of her makeup applied, she spritzed her favorite perfume before heading out at the sound of her friend’s text.

Attired in a simple black dress and a pair of wedges, she carefully walked towards the front of her apartment. Thankfully she would be moving out to the BANA dorms soon. Not that she didn’t like her current living situation, but she was ready to move forth with her life and experience living with roommates rather than living in a one room apartment by herself. Spotting her friend, she quickly scurried towards the figure, a giant smile intact. Allowing her chestnut locks to fall into her face, a giggle slipped from her lips. “Annyeong Jae Hee-ah!” She greeted the younger girl with a giant wave. “So what did you have in mind? Are we going to a club? Omo… wait are you old enough for a club?” She couldn’t help but question, the protective older sister mode already kicking in. As much as she wanted to have, she also did not want to pull anything illegal, like sneaking a younger girl like Jae Hee into the club. What if an old creep tried to take advantage of her? It would be all her fault if anything happened to the younger girl, so she would rather not take her chances.

Soo Bin appeared from her home quickly, a bright smile across her face as it always was. She had slid her cellphone into her purse, waving at the woman childishly in her joy. Tonight would feel like their last evening to seem normal, with everything that was going on and with their future careers about to burst out on stage, it was nerve wracking and yet exciting as well.

Though, it wasn’t as if she really had a choice in the matter. Her mother had decided in her youth that Jae Hee was going to become famous, one way or another. At the time the best route had been acting since she feared Jae Hee’s music career at the time would seem childish and gimmicky. But now that she was a young adult, and by far the most rebellious child she had ever seen in her life, Jae Hee was able to perform as a singer, and in a group that was strong on ballads and without the cutesy or overly femme image. A group she was proud to join.

Wrapping her arms loosely around the girl she gave a wide smile, only to chuckle at her Unnie like persona. She could already see Soo Bin being the mother-hen of the younger three females in the group. The big sister that she never had.

“Don’t worry Unnie! There’s a club that allows eighteen and older in. They sell sodas and the what not, and alcoholic beverages so long as you have an ID and a stamp. So feel free to drink all you want, I’ll make sure you get home safe!” She smiled widely with that childish expression that came ever so often on her countenance. “Let’s go! It’s this way!” She pointed, the club was only a few blocks away, highlighted because it was a place for most idol groups to go due to its location. Jae Hee was curious if any of their rival groups would be moving about the dance floors, which would cause her competitiveness to seep through.

It was a habit she couldn’t break, no matter how much she tried. Soo Bin was just an overly caring person. Even if one was a stranger, she always felt compelled to help or be concern for people, especially those in need. Jae Hee was no exception. Sure the two just met, but the two were planned to debut together in the same group. If something happened to Jae Hee, the guilt would only stain her insides. It would never allow her to forgive herself for what she had done. So tonight she would make sure to take good care of the girl, yet have a good time, because that’s what tonight was about anyways; fun.

“Okay good, I don’t want the bouncer ajusshi to kick you out because you’re not old enough.” Soo bin chimed in with an explanation, hoping that the younger girl would understand her concerned ways. Now that it was out of the way, she nodded at the other girl’s point towards the club, following beside her. “You have to show me you’re dance moves when we get there. Maybe we can even have a dance battle, or battle other girls or even guys!” Soo Bin teased, anticipating what the night entailed.

Squeezing Jae Hee’s arm with her own, she glanced towards the younger girl, offering a smile as they traveled towards the club together. It had been quite some time since she last visited the confines of a club, let alone drank. Not that she intended to drink tonight, but still, it was exhilarating.

Sticking her tongue out at her doting Unnie she simply felt a wide smile across her lips. It had been awhile since she was able to rebel against her mother and go out from the woman’s wishes. Ever since Jae Hee had claimed she would be a singer rather than an actress (which is where her mother believed more money and fame lay) she had drilled her hard. If Jae Hee was going to chase this “silly dream” then her mother was going to make her bleed through her feet in rehearsals and have her sing until her voice was hoarse. Most of the time she could put up with it. Knowing that indeed these tasks were helping her as an artist. But when it came too close to obsession from her mother she simply picked up her things and left for a few days.

“OH! I definitely want to go against the boys.” Dancing sexily was easy for a woman so long as she was attractive. Technical dancing for a woman was a little more difficult but she could handle it, but B-Boying was something she was proud of, and she could do quite well. She could rub against the boys and come out close if not winning. Perhaps if she had a label in the group…it would be dancer.

“But we definitely have to knock down some bitches who think they’re better than us!” She chimed as their steps through the sidewalk echoed against the cement. Closer and closer they were getting to the club, she could already feel herself loosening up. She couldn’t wait to get some junk food in her stomach, a beat in her body, and letting loose on the floor with her amazingly wonderfully protective Unnie Soo Bin.

When it came to clubbing, Soo Bin went against the norm, at least the one held against most girls. Instead of rubbing her body against the opposite gender, moving her body in gyrating and wave like motions, she enjoyed breaking out in dance. Ever since high school she was a popper by nature. No matter the song, her body moved in isolated, sharp popping like movements when dancing. It had been one of the skills that had excelled her forward in the K-pop Star competition. The judges, as well as many viewers, admired her for it, especially with the other girls flaunting off their “sexy” moves like there was no tomorrow.

“Yay! We need to show them who is boss.” Soo Bin giggled, already excited by the idea. Not only would they commence in a battle with the boys, but she would also be dancing alongside her fellow band mate. And from what she saw during practice she knew Jae Hee’s dancing would only add more spice to the dance floor. After all she was skilled in the field of break dancing, a style of dance guys most likely wouldn’t expect.

As the two inched closer towards the club, the more exciting coursed through her body. Soo Bin was exhilarated beyond belief, especially since it had been quite some time since her last clubbing experience. But considering it would be the only time to have fun (at least without sneaking out or being bombarded by flashing cameras), she made it a goal in her mind to just let loose and have fun. Although no alcohol would be no consumed, after all she still had to look after her ddongsaeng Jae Hee, it didn’t matter for the girl. Soo Bin always believed one could have fun even without the clear liquid coursing through her system.

“If you get lost from me we should meet up in the front?” She couldn’t help but add in, her eyes glancing towards the younger girl in all seriousness. As much as she wanted to be carefree the whole time, she didn’t want to take the risk. Being the worrier that she was she had to have some sort of backup plan.

“Darn straight!” Jae Hee egged on with her Unnie. She could already see the two of them having a beautiful friendship. Perhaps it was because she didn’t really have a real family. Her father passed away because of her being a child. Her mother only saw her as a way to earn money without ever having to work, and to this day she still didn’t forgive her for her husband’s death. And her brother…their relationship was just as confusing as it had always been.

Maybe that was why she poured so much of her soul into Bana. Perhaps they could be the family she had lost so long ago? Soo Bin had already begun filling that part in her life unintentionally. It was something that Jae Hee appreciated more than Soo Bin could ever comprehend. She felt wanted, needed, and loved.

“Yes Unnie.” She said with a chipper smile, tugging against her arm as they inched closer and closer to the doors. They didn’t have to wait in line as they approached the bouncer. Being artists in SASA had its benefits and he had recognized Jae Hee from attending the place multiple times (since there weren’t many places that took people in younger than twenty). She gave him a short wave and pretended as if Soo Bin were her date by pointing to their laced hands.

The bouncer gave a laugh, cheering that he couldn’t wait to see the young girl debut when she’d get her chance. Little did he know that the chance was finally coming closer and closer with each passing day.

As the passed the doors she could hear the beat of the music vibrating against the walls. Once they made it down the corridor, after the man stamped Jae Hee’s hand that she couldn’t drink, they came to a small chain of steps. As they began to move down the steps she could hear Maroon 5’s song, Payphone echoing through the club. She jumped against Soo Bin excitedly, she loved American music, especially Maroon 5. She wished if she were a man she could sing like him. “Omo! Unnie we have to get to the floor to dance before Khalifa’s part comes!” That was her favorite part to dance to. The way the bass hit against the speakers and that swagger like sound the beats hit. Not to mention she had to practice her rapping.

“Hury Unnie!” She jeered, tugging the woman onto the dance floor with her.

To hear that even the bouncer had been anticipating BANA’s big debut, Soo Bin was shocked. Her mind simple could not wrap around the magnitude of excitement fans had for them. For her, she just thought of the group as just another girl group in the industry, nothing too special, at least not yet. But the more she reemerge herself back into reality, rather than a confine practice room, the more she realized that they were more than just another girl group, they were also SASA’s first girl group to debut. It was a lot of pressure, considering so much was riding up on the girls, but it was also an honor.

“I’m at a pay phone, trying to call home! All of my change I’ve spent on you. Where have the times gone? Baby it’s all wrong, where are the plans we made for two!” Feeling the younger girl tugging at her arm, Soo Bin sang along to the melody blaring through the club. Although American music usually was not her forte, she knew the song well. Maroon 5 usually had been a go to song for the contestants of Kpop Star when passing time backstage before the big elimination. They figured they might as well have some fun, enjoy the experience, instead of being bitter… at least most of them thought that way. Others sat in silence out of pure competitiveness.

Feeling the vibrations of the song through her feet, her excitement only grew more. With a giant grin not daring to falter from her lips, she advanced further through the crowd, pulling Jae Hee along with her. Finally locating a good amount of space towards the middle of the dance floor, she let go of the girl’s hand, before swaying her body in beat with the song. Turning towards the younger girl, she offered another smirk. “Is this a good spot, or should we move somewhere else?” She raised a brow, ready to relocate if Jae Hee was not feeling the current spot they were residing by.

Moving through the crowd of dancers she felt her body bobbing up and down as Soo Bin continued to navigate the duo to the dance floor where they could relax and just let loose. “All of your bridges burned out” she continued to sing feeling the brush of light caress across her skin. Through the fans she could hear a few people mumbling questions if the two of them were members of Bana. It was odd having the attention brought back to them. Sure Jae Hee should’ve been used to it as an actress, but being a child actress and a debuting idol were on different levels.

Moving next to Soo Bin she felt herself move in a sway with the unison of the music. “Here’s fine!” She roared over blaring music. “All those fairy tales are full of shit, one more fucking love song I’ll be sick!” Then it came to her favorite part of the song and Jae Hee’s natural instinct to rap came to her lips as she felt the bass through her body.

“Man fuck that shit! I’ll be out spending all this money while you’re sitting round wondering why it wasn’t you who came up from nothing

Telling me the chances I blew up or whatever you call it

She made a motion of tossing a basketball into a hoop with a wide smile across her expression.

“Swish, what a shame could have got picked
Had a really good game, but you missed your last shot. So you talk about who you see at the top or what you could have saw but sad to say it’s over for
Phantom pulled up, valet open doors. Wiz like go away, got what you was looking for. Now its me who they want, so you can go and take that little piece of shit with you!”

Then she motioned for Soo Bin to sing as she continued to dance alongside her, hair frazzled across her bare shoulders. It didn’t even occur to her that some people would be taking their pictures from the distance, trying to guess if they were who they really were.

The song was addicting, and Soo Bin couldn’t help but be consumed by it. Singing along with the lyrics, concentrating on both singing and dancing along with the beat, it prevented her from noticing the whispers. She had yet to notice various of people snapping their pictures, people wondering if they were actually members of BANA. Instead, she continued to sing along with her friend once they reached a good spot in the dance floor, and couldn’t help but smile like crazy as she heard Jae Hee rap along so flawlessly to the song.

Swaying along with the beat, even throwing in a few pops and isolations here and there, a smile never dared to falter from her lips. Instead it transformed into a chuckle as Soo Bin witnessed her friend’s gestures along with the song. It was nice to just realize and do whatever they wanted for once. Not that she wasn’t thankful to be in a wonderful group like BANA, but sometimes she needed a break from the rigorous rehearsals just to let loose and have fun for once.

Although usually she would have kept quiet and just danced, this time around she just wanted to be reckless and have the confidence to act in such a way. So as loudly as she could she sang along to the rest of the song, her rasp making it evident that she was indeed Kang Soo Bin, the second place winner of K-Pop Star.
