Even though there wasn’t much of an age difference between them, Jaeki had this way of treating her as if she were his sixteen year old sister. Perhaps it was because he was like the adopted little sister in his family, or older sister as his sibling called it. None the less, it all sounded redundant in his head. She was family.“Well so long as you work it off. You better cook us some dinner or clean the house or something.” He jested. Of course it was all just lies, he would give her whatever she needed. All she ever had to do was ask.Rubbing the palm of his hand against the top of her head he smiled. She really was a treat in his life, even though he would never admit it out loud. But he was sure that she knew how he felt without saying the words. He wasn’t the type to tell others he loved them or appreciated their adoration. He was more the type to just give a nod and offer to buy them a drink. He was sure by now Zoey knew this.Continuing in their conversation he ordered another drink. Man, he might end up a little tipsy tonight, but it was worth it. “Yeah so far I’ve had to work on a recording with Kim Jae Na and Seo Yoon Jae. Let me tell you, it’s like big brother versus a little sister with those two. Both are really talented, but man, they are like a cat and a dog when they’re in the same room. I think that Yoon Jae enjoys teasing her a little too much. Eun Mi I know is another I’ll be working with in recording, but I haven’t met her yet. I know she’s from Daebak.”Tilting his head over towards the bartender, he signaled that he was still waiting for his drink. Within minutes he returned with his toxic jager in a glass full of some random energy drink. Ugh! Domestic chores to pay back loans? Zoey would not be borrowing money from Jaeki any time soon. She'd much rather pay interest than do house work. The blonde was not bad at house work or anything but she could be a little lazy at time. Sometimes she let the dishes pile up and she rarely made her bed. Zoey was, however, fond of cooking. She liked it a lot and was actually pretty good at it, so that was something she could do. Vacuuming on the other hand... eh, that was a lot less enjoyable. When 5TQ moved into the dorm together she would do all of the cooking and leave the cleaning to someone else.

Jaeki rubbed the top of Zoey's head which she only let three people in this whole world do. Jaeki, of course, Young Jae and, the number one offender of the act, Kyung Kyu. Jaeki had been the last one added to the list but because she was comfortable with him she allowed it. It was not as if Joey was awkward with people-- she was all for skinship-- but petting the top of her head did seem awkward. It was a good thing she was not that close with many guys so no one tried to do it to her all that often. But because it was Jaeki this time she was totally fine with it-- that and he was buying her drinks which also gave him a free pass to do whatever.

Smiling as Jaeki continued speaking about the new project he was undertaking, Zoey finished off her first bottle. She was happy that he seemed happy and was enjoying his work. Jaeki was a very talented composer so she felt as if he deserved all of the chances he was getting. An OST would be huge for him. Of course, he would be busier now-- and Zoey would not get to hog him all to herself-- but having a job was more important than hanging out with a dorky friend 24/7.

The bartender had showed up with a drink for Jaeki and Zoey eyed it because it was not like the one before. She had seen him mix drinks before so that was probably what he had ordered now. Zoey could not understand why he drank that stuff. Unlike tasting like nothing it tasted awful. "How can you drink that stuff?" Zoey asked in disbelief, even though she had probably asked it to him countless times since they became friends. Jaeki had asked Zoey about her movie role and she answered quickly, "Oh, I play the main character's kick-ass friend and back-up singer. That means I have to work on getting even more awesome than I am right now and... my singing." Zoey was already awesome enough for twelve people but she could always get better at singing. "But I'm up for the challenge and I'm looking forward to it." She took a long drink from her bottle before questioning Jaeki again, "You'll come and visit me one set won't you, Oppa? I promise I'll introduce you to all of my hot co-stars," she teased.

Zoey was the type who went for fruity drinks, at least that was what he called them. He had been drinking since he was young (not shit faced drunk, but having a couple of beers while hanging out with his friends). Jaeki had always been a laid back kind of guy. Matured, yes, that was how he liked to phrase it.“That’s because you don’t ever taste good Ale. You usually buy the drinks most people get while on vacation in Jamaica or something.” The thought of that reminded him of a dirty banana, man those things tasted delicious. Sure it only had Kahlua but still, mixed in a blender with a banana and it was his kind of a shake. Though he would never be able to get away with that in public.Another reason why he remained anonymous to the idol industry. Nobody had figured out that he was Broke-N, hell only a hand full of his friends knew who he was and those he worked with on music he had them sign a confidentiality agreement. That was how much he liked his personal life to remain private. It seemed extreme to most, but it was what helped keep his sister safe and what kept him from being on covers of tabloids and the such since he had become popular in the industry with his latest compositions. And now with To The Beautiful You airing and working on music for BANA and Eturnal, it only seemed to make the mystery of his true identity itch at the back of fan’s ears. Perhaps it was not knowing who he was that gave the song that extra bump in fame, but at least that meant a bigger paycheck for the man.He moved away from his seat, tilting slightly to avoid any retaliation from the younger girl from his jokingly curt words.After calming down for a moment he listened to her speak of the job and he figured it’d fit her well. She had the loyal friend part down pretty well in real life, so he could only imagine her heightening that personality on TV.At first he shook his head, not really one to show up on sets with friends. There was always the question, who is he? How do you know him? Occasionally he had to break a paparazzi’s camera or hide from his picture being taken, avoiding tabloids saying “Blah blah is leaving with mysterious guy, who are they? Are they dating?” and it only went on and on from that. But upon hearing pretty girls he couldn’t help but reconsider the invitation.“So I’d just have to sit there and watch you record, then you introduce me to some tail? Jaeki was right, Zoey's taste buds were off when it cake to drinks. She ordered beverages that others might call girly or for lightweights. But, honestly, that's what she was a girly lightweight. Joey could barely make it though a bottle of soju without getting wasted. She really should not be drinking, and not just because she had an image to worry about but because she did silly things when drunk. Like giving an ajusshi a lap dance or sleeping with her best friend and then getting pregnant. Okay, those things were not silly they were really stupid. Luckily for her the drinks she was attracted to the most were on the light side alcohol wise and whenever she went out drinking she always had someone like Jaeki to look out for her.

But Zoey could not let Jaeki get away with calling her out so she took a swing at him but he knew her far too well so he was able to successfully avoid her attack. Jaeki pondered the idea of visiting Zoey on set so he could meet hot co-stars. "Yeah, that's all you have to do. There going to be some pretty smoking hot guys on set so, because I'm so nice, I'll introduce you to them first." Zoey smiled a cheeky smile as she looked over at Jaeki. "You did want to meet my hot male co-stars, right?" She then looked away from him as she finished her second bottle of wine. "Because it'll take a lot more than a single visit to meet the female ones" Zoey should not press her luck because she knew that she would be lucky if Jaeki came to visit her once.

Her stomach made an uncomfortable shift inside of her and she knew it would be aching later. Joey should have slowed down when drinking-- or if she really had no will power she should have at least ordered something to eat which would force her to drink slower. Her mind was beginning to become fuzzy so she could not remember what she had asked Jaeki about and what she had not. "So I think I'm up to date on your life except for one thing: your sister, how is she doing?" The blonde questioned with a sigh as she rested her elbow on the table and put her head in her hand.

The two had a very playful relationship, and it was something he enjoyed a little too much sometimes. Though, she resorted to gay jokes, he often did about her lack of experience in the world. Though, he wasn’t much older than her, he liked to pretend there was a big gap and he was the all-knowing father or big brother figure. And she knew his personality too well, realizing that he wouldn’t show up on a set too often. It was way too much exposure and there was always too many questions that were brought to view if someone were to see his face.From time to time in the past he had been able to lie, claiming that he was bringing a package or something to set for a cast member or a crew member. Often the dumb ones would fall for it, it was the crafty ones he had to avoid. Hence why he evaded known reporters for K-Now, it seemed like they were tabloid ninjas sometimes. Hell, they had even caught sight of him and Eun Mi together as he had stopped her from running into a bus. Luckily, Jaeki was experienced in how to avoid having his picture taken so all they had was a vague description. After all, how many tall, Asians were there with semi-long black hair in Korea. More than he could count with a calculator that’s how many.Sipping on his bottle his expression turned back towards Zoey with their conversation. A smile was brought to his lips as he heard his friend question about his younger sister. Oh, how he loved that kid. Just the mere thought of her could change his mood into a complete one-eighty.“You know her, being the same old kid she always is. I can’t believe she turns seventeen soon, it’s crazy how much she’s grown up. But you know her, always acting as if she is far older than she really is. All because she lives with her brother.” He chuckled lightly. “She acts like I love her or something.” He jested yet again. CODE BYcharlie

Jaeki's younger sister was, basically, the same as always. Zoey did not expect there to be much of anything new going on in the teenagers's life. She was sixteen, how much drama could she possibly have? The blonde thought back to her own teenage years and quickly took the statement back. A lot could happen but hopefully none of that stuff would happen to her. Jaeki mentioned his little sister turning seventeen soon and Zoey sucked in a gasp while grabbing her oppa's arm. "You're going to throw her a fantastic seventeenth birthday party, right!?" She asked as she stuck out her tongue to the older man. It seemed more likely that he would try to buy her an expensive gift than throw her a party.

Joey's seventeenth birthday was not all that exciting-- actually it was probably the exact opposite of exciting. Boring described it a lot better than any other word ever could. She had gotten gifts from her family and friends (which surprised her but she did not let them know that) but most of the day she just spent at home-- her aunt and uncle's house-- in her makeshift bedroom watching TV. Nothing memorable really happened, well unless you counted Loring being uncharacteristically still inside of her but the next morning he returned to his active self. Maybe her son was just giving her a break for the day.

The memories of Loring and her birthday left an uncomfortable feeling in the pit of her stomach. She reached for her bottle but to her displeasure it was empty. When did that happen? Joey was fully ready to get the bartenders attention so he could request another bottle but she stopped herself. There was something Jaeki wanted to do tonight. She probably should not be totally wasted for whatever it was. "You wanted to do something tonight, didn't you?" Zoey asked, pressing her forehead and looking at Jaeki sideways. "Singing or something? Let's do that now. I wanna sing!" she slurred. Her attitude was totally different from when Jaeki first suggested performing.

The final few drops of this newly ordered drink had finally passed through his throat once Zoey began to ponder what it was the two of them had planned to do for the evening. And for a moment, he forgot himself. That was until the younger woman called for his attention yet again, his eyes rising to meet the young adults. What did he want to do again? Yes, make her sing. Give her some practice before her debut and make sure she could handle a small crowd before she took on the big ones up on the K-Bank stage.Surprisingly enough, Jaeki could play his instruments rather well when intoxicated. Many times he took the stage with Moon Junsu and Dong Min while having more beers than he could count (though usually their drinks were comped by the bar’s owner since their playing brought in the big bucks. Though with Junsu turning into a star he was sure these nights wouldn’t last long because Junsu couldn’t live without his privacy). Time and time again they took the stage and began to sing one of the songs he composed, “Be With You” one that the three jammed to time and time again. He had yet to sell the piece to an artist because he felt he couldn’t find someone to do it justice.“Let’s go Zoey.” He said, ushering her to follow his lithe figure. Moving through the crowds he made sure to keep the attractive young woman within his reach. He didn’t want her to get mauled by someone or for some guy to reach up and grab her. That would land him a bed in jail for the night. One thing he couldn’t stand was for someone to touch a female that he cared for, family or not.As they approached the set he looked towards the drum set and the guitar. Which would he play, he supposed that would depend on the song that Zoey wanted the two of them to sing together. “So Zoey, which song do you want to sing?” CODE BYcharlie

"Ka ja!" Zoey cheered after Jaeki ushered her through the crowds. At the top of the evening, when Jaeki first suggested singing the blonde was not looking forward to it all that much but now-- for reasons that were unknown to her-- she could not wait to get on a stage and belt out a song. Okay, "belt" probably was not the right word. Joey was not a power vocal and probably never would be, so she supposed she could not wait to get on stage and sing a song. The young lady more than likely would not try her hand at playing any instruments tonight. She could play the piano-- thanks to lessons as a child-- and she could sort of play the guitar-- thanks to the internet and Youtube-- but she never did any of those in public. And hopefully she was not so drunk that she thought tonight would be a good night to start.

Jaeki had asked Zoey which song she wanted to sing once the duo had reached the set. Hmmm, she was not sure. It was as if every good song she had ever heard has suddenly fallen out of her head. Not ever her own songs (which she had spent months rehearsing) had stayed in her head.No, this was ridiculous. There had to be at least on song that she wanted to sing. She prompted herself to think harder but the blonde could almost feel her brain frying from being overheated with thought. Zoey drunkenly waved her arm in front of her face as she waved off the idea of picking a song, "I can't think of one. You pick a song, Jaeki." Zoey stated, speaking informally. An idea for a song suddenly popped into her head and in losing all self control she shouted out, "Banmal! We should sing that! I love that song."

Zoey was never the type of girl to listen to acoustic songs often but Banmal was the exception, along with a few others. Usually the young actress listened to hip hop, pop, techno, or dubstep; but truthfully she could appreciate all music styles. If someone was willing to work hard and show their passion for music Zoey did not care how they did it she would always be willing to listen. Back on the topic of Banmal, had Zoey asked any other guy (excluding Young Jae) to perform this song with her it might have seemed as if she were hinting at something more. Thankfully, her and the older male were such good friends that they could sing such a mushy song without it being awkward. Joey was lucky to have someone like Jaeki in her life.
