Witches A witch can be either male, or female and he/she has a natural power to effect change by magical means ("Witchcraft"). Most of a witch's magic makes itself known in the teen years. With practice, and greater learning, witches can achieve significant power. The elements and nature are also helpful in the practice of magic. Witches are known for their code of loyalty and their bond as members of an extended family. Witches often use tools along with the elements to help them practice their magic. Grimoires are the most important since they have the witch's family history of spells, rituals, etc. A talisman is the most powerful tool at a witch's disposal. They also employ the use of candles, herbs, and stones.
Powers/Abilities- Channelling - Drawing other forms of energy and power by focusing on celestial events.
- Conjuration - The act of calling, commanding, or summoning an element, object, person, or spirit already in existence.
- Elemental Control - The act of controlling and manipulating the elements of air, earth, fire, water, and weather.
- Mind Control - Similar to compulsion, and works only on humans.
- Mind Stunning - Rendering someone unconscious (works on humans).
- Pain Infliction - Works on humans, but commonly used on vampires and werewolves.
- Precognition - Seeing the future.
- Spell Casting
- Telekinesis
- Witches Brew/Potion Making
Weaknesses- Fear - Can cause a witch to temporarily lose their powers.
- Overuse of Magic - Could lead a witch to death from over-exertion, but may start as simply as nose bleeds and exhaustion.

Werewolves Also known as lycanthrope, werewolves are an endangered species. After the werewolf curse has been triggered, a werewolf will turn every full moon, it is uncontrollable. Once in wolf form, a person has no control. For this reason, werewolves will attack any pray including humans. Instinctively, werewolves will try to hunt their rivals, vampires. It is because of the vampires that werewolves are so few. The feud between the two species was started when Klaus' mother's husband, an original vampire, found out his wife had betrayed him with another man and Klaus was the product of that union. The original vampire father killed Klaus' biological father and the rest of his werewolf bloodline.
Werewolves are aggressive, more so in wolf form, but also in human form. Unlike vampires who may seem a bit colder, vampires have heightened body temperatures. Werewolves when in wolf form look like a regular wolf only a bit larger (not Twilight size) and with yellow eyes. Wolves, even ones from the same family, do not look the same when in wolf form, some have black fur, whereas another werewolf in the family might have grey fur, it differs from wolf to wolf.
Transformation: In order to trigger the curse, a person carrying the werewolf gene must kill another human being. The death of the other person being an accident has no bearing on the curse, the affects are immediate. After triggering the curse, a werewolf will only transform during a full moon.
Powers/Abilities- Super Strength - Stronger than humans in both forms, but only stronger than vampires when in wolf form.
- Super Speed
- Heightened Senses
- Super Agility
- Accelerated Healing
- Durability
- Lie Detection
- Werewolf Bite - Lethal to vampires, but not to originals.
- Shape Shifting/Full Moon - During the full moon werewolves have even stronger powers, even more so when they are transformed.
Weaknesses- Wolfsbane - Basically, this is the werewolf equivalent of vervain. It burns the skin, and if ingested it causes weakness and fever.
- Broken Neck - Causes instant death.
- Magic - Witches can cause the painful aneurysms for a werewolf as they do for vampires.
- Heart Extraction - Removal of the heart causes instant death.
Hybrids Hybrids are more powerful than regular vampires or werewolves since they are a combination of the two species. Klaus is the first ever hybrid. He was created when his mother, a vampire, had an affair with a werewolf. To keep the natural balance of things, the witches cast a spell on Klaus restrain his werewolf side. The curse was bound to both the moonstone, and the Petrova Doppelgänger. After years of trying to break the curse Klaus has finally been successful, but for some reason every hybrid he attempts to create gets a strange illness, much like rabies, and dies.
Transformation: As far as Klaus knows he should be able to create a hybrid by feeding a werewolf his blood and killing them so they enter a stage of transition. The next step should be as simple as drinking human blood, but this does not seem to be working.
Powers/Abilities- Werewolf Bite - A hybrids bite takes effect quicker than the bite of a normal werewolf.
- Werewolf Bite Blood Cure - Hybrid blood can heal a vampire if it is bitten by a werewolf or a hybrid.
- Transformation Control - After the first transformation (which is uncontrollable), a hybrid can control their transformation.
- Lycanthrope Enhancement - Hybrids can/do show some of their wolf features (ex. yellow eyes) while remaining in human form.
- Daytime Walking - They are half werewolf, and as such, they can walk freely during the day without any Lapis Lazuli protection.
- Immortality - Since they are half vampire, hybrids no longer age, and are immune to all illnesses.
- Mind Compulsion - Hybrids can compel the minds of humans, and as an original hybrid, Klaus can compel vampires and probably werewolves too.
- Healing Factor - Hybrids have a double healing factor being as they are half vampire and half werewolf. They can also heal from any sort of damage because of their background (i.e. wood is bad for a vampire, but being part werewolf, a hybrid heals quickly regardless).
Weaknesses As of yet, there is no way to kill Klaus the original hybrid, but other hybrids can be killed by heart extraction or decapitation.- Uninvited Invitation - Like vampires, they need to be invited into a home.
- Vervain
- Wolfsbane

Creature Guide!
Originals The originals are unique in the sense that they were not created by other vampires. They were once human, but were turned into vampires (unknown how). The original father was a wealthy landowner in Eastern Europe. He and his wife Esther had seven children, however, the father later found out the one child, Niklaus was not his son, but rather the son of his wife's lover. In a rage, the original father killed his wife's werewolf lover and his entire family. It was this act of revenge that started the war between vampires and werewolves.
The originals being the first vampires in existence were the ones to create any subsequent vampires, most likely to act as their servants. Originals have heightened abilities that other vampires posses, but not nearly to the same extent.
Powers/Abilities- Super Strength
- Super Speed
- Heightened Senses
- Super Agility
- Accelerated Healing
- Durability
- Mind Compulsion - Works on other vampires and on humans
- Vervain Detection
- Immortality - Nearly indestructible and have the potential to live forever.
- Extra Sensory Reckoning - ex. ability to tell if someone is lying and to see their true intentions.
Weaknesses They only have to weaknesses, extremely strong witches (or channeled witchcraft), and white ash wood.- Wood - Can not kill an original, but can temporarily slow them down or neutralize them for a few hours.
- Vervain - Has a very weak affect.
- Sunlight - Can burn them, but they heal so quickly as a result of their age so it cannot kill them. Additionally, all originals have a Lapis Lazuli Ring.
- Uninvited Invitation - Have to receive an invitation into a home.
Vampires All vampires are descendants of the originals. Our vampires here at Rise of the Moon are based off of the vampires in The Vampire Diaries. We do not want to see any sparkly Twilight vampires. Regular vampires are not as strong as the originals. The older the vampire, the more powerful they are.
A vampire's main food source is blood. They can survive on animal blood, but are stronger if they are drinking human blood. Alcohol is another important food source for vampires, it seems to help them to control their blood-lust. If a vampire goes without blood for too long they will eventually mummify. Female vampires are not able to have children, but if a male vampire mates with a human female pregnancy is possible. A vampire-human child has the same gestation period as a regular human pregnancy (40 weeks).
Transformation: For a vampire to be created, a human must die within 24 hours of consuming a vampire's blood. After death, the human wakes in a state of transition, and if they do not consume a significant amount of human blood within the next 24 hours they will die.
Powers/Abilities- Super Strength
- Super Speed
- Emotional Control - They have the ability to turn off their emotions.
- Heightened Senses
- Mind Compulsion - Ability to control minds, and to alter or erase human memories. Vampires can also manipulate the dreams of humans and other vampires.
- Immortality - No longer age, and cannot become ill, unless bitten by a werewolf.
- Accelerated Healing
Weaknesses Unlike originals, there are multiple ways to harm or kill a regular vampire. Furthermore, they to are limited by the Uninvited Invitation as are originals.- Wood - Can wound a vampire, and a wooden stake through the heart will kill them.
- Vervain - On the skin, it burns, and if ingested in its pure form or through the blood of a human who is on vervain, it causes fever and weakness. A human on vervain is immune to a vampire's compulsion.
- Sunlight & Fire - Causes death for vampires, unless they have a Lapis Lazuli charmed object (many do not).
- Magic - A witch can cause painful aneurysms for a vampire which can result in the explosion of blood vessels.
- Decapitation - Breaking a vampires neck does not kill it, but tearing it's head off does.
- Heart Extraction - Removal of the heart causes instant death.
- Werewolf Bite - A bite from a werewolf almost always means a long and painful death unless a cure is administered.
