Well, my arenas aren't filling up, and I'm very upset, and a little lonely. So, I've decided to run a mordheim RPG, and I'm hell bent on making this work.
---------- "'Ey, Boss!" Secretary Grumkin burst into the room, ducking under his Boss's patented managerial brick while simultaneously hurdling an injured Booger Bugga who was on the floor, clearly having failed at ducking the brick. "We've found it!" A deep silence filled the room. "Are you sure?" Shnucka's accent had disappeared entirely, and his usual grin was replaced by a dead seriousness. "Are you absolutely sure?" "Yes, Boss." Grumkin's accent was also gone. "It landed in the wastes, north of the Empire. There's no doubt the demons are there already, and if he finds out..." "If he hasn't already. We'll have to prepare quickly. Find us a ship, and a band willing to venture into the wastes. This... 'Biz'Niz'... isn't cut out for the job." He waved his hand around the building nonchalantly. "And get... Turkeh Sandvich..." He sighed, disgusted. "Get him to clean this damned goblin up." "Yes, Boss. I'll get right on it." The Ork left the room quickly. Shnucka sighed again. "Turkeh Sandvich. Who the hell names these guys?" ---- The poorly named Orc entered the room shortly afterward, picking the goblin up with one hand and hauling it out the door. Outside, he proceeded to drag the goblin into a nearby alley, before considering his job done and returning to the bar. Outside Shnucka's office window, a very surprised young woman slunk away in pursuit of the Secretary. Something big was happening, and she needed more information... ---- No longer playing opossum, Booger Bugga pulled himself to his feet. This was to be short lived, as he was immediately assailed by a massive figure, it's face hidden under dark robes. "Oh, 'i Boss." The goblin grimaced. "'Dey found it." "It's about time. Find out where they're going. We're following them." The figure pulled back it's hood, showing a broad grin that was framed by large, black tusks. "Oi, Morkgrahn. I'll git right on it." The goblin slunk away, as the massive black Ork turned and disappeared. ---- Enough story for now, let's get down to the concept. PLAYERS GOOD - Shnucka claims that they're traveling to the chaos wastes to destroy a great threat to the world. It's sort of a half truth. He'll be joined by mercenaries in it for the money, do-gooders who believe his lie, and do-gooders who are suspicious of him, I demand a witch hunter! Leader: Shnucka Heroes: Grumkin, 4 player heroes. Henchmen - Shnucka's new crew. Will be geared to balance out any gaps made by the heroes. EVIL - Morkgrahn claims a terrible power lies within the chaos wastes, and wishes to aquire it. Another half truth. He'll be joined by mercenaries in it for the money, power hungry do-evils, mindless goons, and other assortments of baddies. I'd like to see one 'pretend to be evil' character in here. Leader: Morkgrahn Heroes: 5 player heroes. Henchmen - Morkgrahn's crew. Will be geared to balance out gaps made by the heroes. Players won't have a set amount of crowns to outfit their hero, they just need to be reasonable. Please refrain from Duke D'Artois the Heavy Armor/Barded Warhorse/Shield/Sword/Helmet Knight Errant, unless you have a very compelling argument. You'll get one hero, and maybe a hired sword, depending on how many people join. New heroes will automatically gain 4 exp to start them off. That's an advance (or two, if you're a youngblood.) I'd like to have an equal number of players on each team. Each player on a team will control his own hero and a number of the henchmen, unless he wishes to elect another player as proxy. I'll control team leaders and bad guys. The campaign starts off in Rezephua, the players board ships, head to the empire, up into the chaos wastes, and we'll go from there. It will be played across a chain event of scenarios, each different from the last. Each will have it's own special rules, goals and rewards. Here's a draft outline, subject to change. Battle leaving Rezephua Ship battle Ship battle Entering empire - BOSS FIGHT Battle Battle Entering the wastes - BOSS FIGHT Tea-time Battle GOOD vs EVIL : Fight 1 Battle etc etc etc etc BOSS BATTLE GOOD vs EVIL : Deciding Final Battle Boss battles are just that, there will be an incredibly powerful foe to overcome, they'll be along the lines of Dramatis Personae. The GOOD vs EVIL : Deciding match will be just that. The two teams will have a skirmish against each other, resulting in one team defeating the other. The losers lose, the winners go on to finish the campaign. Certain fights along the way will be more challenging than others, but yield higher rewards. For example, there may be a breakthrough match against a very powerful foe. If you defeat him instead of simply breaking through, you'll gain more rewards, but you run the risk of him destroying you. I'll tailor each match so that there is always some challenge to overcome. ---- I'll allow some time for discussion before I open it up to registration. Why am I not surprised? This time I hope it goes better than your previous projects. You tend to be enthusiastic when it comes to arenas, but you shouldn't start a roleplaying game without thinking it through. It's a lot of work.
I'll cook something up. I'm far from sure you will get nine PC's, though; maybe you should aim for five. -------------------- |

I'm more than ready to put in the work, I just need to find a way to get people involved...
Feel free to use existing characters, or generic characters. This is set up as an opportunity for me to delve into the stew that is my imagination and dish out some Shnucka backstory. A bad guy pretending to be a good guy is acceptable too, I may even allow them to betray their friends at the end. Same with a good guy pretending to be a bad guy. Be creative, and don't be too scared to make a character that would be highly unlikely to work with an Ork. This is Rezephua, after all. -------------------- ![]() |

1. I'm assuming we cannot take Leader-level heroes? 2. Will we be able to buy equipment between battles?
3. Can it be a 'count as'? Witch hunters of the Witch Hunter list are not so good, with only WS3 and BS3... -------------------- |

1: Oh, yes, you may take leader level heroes if you like. There's no restrictions to what you can take, but be reasonable. Like, no possessed with every mutation available, etc.
2: Every once in a while there might be a place to shop. Probably once in the empire and once in the wastes. It's about planning ahead. You'll also be able to find weapons/armor/etc as end of battle rewards, too. 3: Witch Hunter Captains are pretty Badass. Time Frame: As long as it takes. If you have to go away at some point, you can always elect a proxy to finish the game for you. It will go as fast as the slowest player. I have some interesting lists sitting around on my computer, Pit Fighters (Pit Kings are incredibly badass), Tomb Kings, Arabians, Clan Skyre, Fallen (very interesting), Tomb Robbers, etc... Oh, and Orcs. We all love Orcs. Speaking of Orcs, before I forget... ---- Shnucka, Big Bad Ork. (Campaign Version) WILL NEVER GAIN EXP M4 WS5 BS6 S4 T5 W2 I5 A2 Ld9 Sword, Shield, Light Armor, Helmet, Two Crossbow Pistols. Resilient, 'Ere We Go!, Da Cunnin' Plan, Well 'Ard, Step Aside, Weapons Expert, Pistolier, Jump Up, Dodge, Battle Tongue. Ork: Shnucka has access to every skill table. ---- Secretary Grumkin. (Campaign Version) (32 exp) M4 WS4 BS3 S3 T4 W2 I4 A1 Ld8 Spear, Shield, Light Armor, Helmet. Fearsome, Haggle. Ork: Grumkin has access to every skill table. ---- Morkgrahn, Wretched Ork. (Campaign Version) WILL NEVER GAIN EXP M4 WS6 BS3 S5 T5 W2 I4 A3 Ld10 Double Handed Weapon, Heavy Armor, Helmet, Tome of Magic. Strongman, Fearsome, Pit Fighter, Unstoppable Charge, Strike to Injure, Combat Master, Web of Steel, 'Ard 'Ead, Waaagh!, Well 'Ard, 'Eadbasher, Warrior Wizard. Morkgrahn knows the spell Fooled Ya!, though he casts it at difficulty 8. The Wretched: Morkgrahn is an incredibly unstable personality, an unhappy side effect of 25 years of fruitless searching. He is angry at everything all the time, and often lashes out violently. Morkgrahn takes a leadership test in each of his recovery phases. If failed, he will gain frenzy and immediately charge the nearest ally in the exact same fashion as if he had rolled 'I 'Erd Dat!' for animosity. At the end of the combat, he loses frenzy. Ork: Morkgrahn has access to every skill table. ---- You can see Morkgrahn is stupidly powerful. People joining the evil side will have it easy earlier on, but if you rely on Morkgrahn too much, you won't gain very much exp, will you? There is an experimental Nipponese warband amirite? If so, I'd like to have a go with that one, otherwise, I'll just find some mercenary race (probably Middenland, since I've never used them before).
I'm interested in this, and we'll just see what happens, because I can fight for either side, really. --------------------

can you just give us a gold limit?
I think its too tough to pick a character without guidance of how much we have to spend. |

Actually, the witch hunter who is suspicious idea was put in JUST so you would play, Asuryan!
I could make a gold limit, but the problem is really cool things like vampires and tomb kings go well over it... Ok, here... 100 crowns limit. Models going over the limit do not gain the bonus 4 starting exp, and may not buy additional equipment, beyond their free dagger, to start the campaign. -------------------- ![]() |

Did anyone save the Pit Fighter, Norse and Pirate lists? I would like to have a look at them before I make my character. I haven't decided yet if I'll focus on combat or shooting.
I'm pretty sure I want a hero that starts with 0 XP. Edit: Just the skill lists available to the Youngbloods (or equivalent) of those three warbands would be enough. This post has been edited by -Sentinel- on Dec 4 2008, 03:25 PM -------------------- |

I have the norse one (obviously). Their bondmen (youngbloods) cost 15 gc and have access to combat, speed and special norse skills (not that good, they are that you can parry with shields, reroll failed rolls to hit with axes (both single and double handed), make your attacks impossible to parry and be immune to all alone tests and ignore fear tests).
I'm also intrested in this. This post has been edited by The Golden Arrow on Dec 4 2008, 05:16 PM -------------------- Nathal the dancer of shadows winner of the bloodfury tournament

I have the pit fighters list, Sentinel. I can brief you on them later.
Asuryan: Where exactly did you get Matthias' statline from? Witch hunters certainly do not have T4! I won't advance people until I officially open registration. Looking around to see who's interested, and looking for potential problems. -------------------- ![]() |

I paid for stat upgrades as described in the back of the campaigns section. I upgraded my Bs and my T - and the cost came from my 100 crown limit - if we're not doing that, let me know and I'll change it up... -------------------- Life is short. If you don't stop to look around, you might miss it.

here's the math... 15 gc for WS 15 gc for BS 30 gc for T 25 gc for Xbow 10 gc for sword =95 gc. + 60 gc for witch hunter captain = 155 gc And no, we're not doing buyable stats, as this isn't a one-off game. You'll gain exp over time instead. (Also a +4 boost at the beginning.) AFG, if you can link me to these Nippos, (ha, sounds like nipples, kinda.) I'll look them over. -------------------- ![]() |

Hmm, ponders if he should enter a character already in a warband?
Probably not. Will take a bare naked Vampire though. Probably not Lord Kullar though - I like the idea he is chained up in a box somewhere under the puppetry of a necromancer master. It keeps me sane (and brave enough to walk the streets of Rezephua) I will instead make a very similar bloodthirsty Vampire. Strygwyr, the heart-ripper. (bonus points for anyone who gets the name) Absolutely mad, loves the frenzy of combat. Will hurl himself at whatever he comes across. Has been deprived of his nobility and title after having it stolen by an underling. Now stalks the forests, sating his homicidal urges and sleeping in caves. Many a peasant has been found tied to the trees, their throats slit with an old sacrificial dagger, and the blood drained through the wound. Strygwyr, Vampire M:6 WS:4 BS:4 S:4 T:4 T:2 I:5 A:2 Ld:8 Leader Fear Immune To Psychology Immune to Poison No Pain: treats injuries of 'stunned' as 'knocked down'. Armed with his ancient dagger, grabbed him as he was forced from his home. As for his team: is 'just misunderstood' an option? |
