Revolution Academy is the newly named Xavier Institute. It is a place for those with certain abnormal abilities to go to study, an establishment with curriculum that rivals that of Harvard in terms of academic achievement. Many believe this to be due to some projected weird happenings within. Yet people have come and gone through the grounds of the large estate in Salem, New York, to find nothing out of the ordinary, and the rumors were dismissed. Little did they realize that the academy was a place for mutants to shelter from the harsh tribulations set upon them by the restrictions of society. It was a place for them to gather and manifest their powers in a way that would benefit both themselves and others like them.

Time changes, however, just as society did when the water started to boil. Xavier stepped down from his office and went off without a word, claiming that something momentous was about to happen. No one tried to stop him, and none knew what he was talking about. The academy was left to be headed by the X-Men, who would continue to teach the new mutants the way that their life should go, and to forgive the pains cast upon them, rather than wish to destroy those that oppressed them. That could only get them so far, however, as the school was revealed to not be as perfectly safe as once imagined. During a party to celebrate the birthday of the substitute headmistress, Ororo Monroe, Revolution Academy was attacked by anti-mutant extremists with petrol bombs. Many were injured; students and X-men alike. It was this event that drove home the notion that the students needed to be taught discipline and to work together in times of crisis.

Distraught, Ororo Munroe stepped down from her position as Headmistress, not feeling as if she was able to provide adequate resources to her students. She wanted her students to be prepared for anything and everything, something that even she was not prepared for. In her place as Headmistress she appointed the very mutant created to kill. Laura Kinney. The woman was not as she had been created to be, though the instincts still remained. Laura knew what the students needed, and knew how to properly give them the training they needed. She took position as head of the school, protecting it with all she could do. But during her reign Laura senses there is more going on than she knows. People are asking questions, people with confidential files, some not even existent.

The leaf-crunching autumn season of 2007 brought with it a slap in the face to the mutant community. The President announced a Cure for mutation, for the very reason society was parted. Many opposed this so-called “Cure”; others, however, rejoiced with the prospect that they would be able to live freely as they had before their teen years. The Cure was presented to the American nation by the president of the United States, though his introduction of the Worthington Labs product reached across the world. It was only a matter of time before the public administration, a voluntary act, would be turned to something mandatory. The government denies any forceful use of the Cure against mutants, but the students and X-Men of Revolution Academy know different. Only a handful of hours after the announcement made by the president, the school was once more targeted, this time with military force. Four mutants were taken; all of them administered the Cure after intense questioning at a Westchester Military base. Though they were soon rescued by their fellow X-Men, not all of them survived; they were powerless, not at all themselves.

The rules changed – Laura Kinney implemented the Junior X-Men into the school. The individuals chosen for this faction were to be trained to be X-Men, to learn battle tactics fit to use in the real world. They were eventually given a real-world simulation, though without being told it was a simulation. Months earlier, as protection for the Cure clinics laid across the United States and United Kingdom, Stark Industries set forth with the Sentinel project. These large machines were the robotic bodyguards for the clinics, and Stark Industries and the government alike deny that they will be put to other use. During their simulated mission against this machine, the Junior X-Men proved that they were on the right track to becoming X-Men, even if they did have some bumps along the way.

Six months after its release the Cure was pulled from the public due to evidence of mutants’ powers returning. This did not settle well with many mutants, most of them having recently received the Cure by choice. Now they were being told that they would be thrust back into the dark world they thought they had left behind. Early September 2008 brought with it a protest before the so-called “Cure” clinic of New York. A well-spoken man led the movement, the gathering soon turning to turmoil as opinions were expressed and anger began to boil in the blood of those attending. Arrests were made, but not after harm came to some of those involved. Among those taken into custody were some from the Academy, much to Laura Kinney’s dismay.

Two months later, something more unimaginable swept across New York – across the world, actually. An anti-mutant radical group, led by an ex-militant by the name of Julian Boxer, created a virus that was specific only to mutants. It ravished its victims mercilessly, killing them within two weeks of exposure. It release to the public was explosive – literally. Two bombs went off in the United States, one in Alphabet City of New York, and one in the star-struck center of Los Angeles, California. It was a month before Laura Kinney and others were able to find the location of the secret lab where the radical group was based. There they found an anti-body, a cure for the disease that was spreading through the mutant community like wild fire. It wasn’t enough to save everyone, the ending death toll reaching 1,300 mutants over the four weeks. Among those, handfuls of those who died were family members of Revolution Academy. Mutants continued to die after the cure was mass-produced, as not all were able to withstand the damage the virus had already made to their bodies.

Now Laura Kinney is in the process of re-building what is left of her school’s morale. Some students have left, their parents feeling the need to be with their children. There’re no more limits to what the world can do against mutants to victimize them. Some mutants are leaving Revolution Academy, sick with being stick to the passive-aggressive base that the school had been founded on.

How much longer before the war becomes more than a simple protest?

Revolution Academy has been up and running since September 2005. Our members are dedicated to telling a story rather than just engaging in drama and we pride ourselves on giving them an environment in which they can do so. We are an intermediate board and, as such, ask for 350 words minimum per IC post. Our main aim is to provide a fun place where people can work on and, hopefully, perfect the art of writing and are more than willing to help anyone who truly wishes to improve and become part of our game. All in all we are a friendly board with friendly members and helpful staff, so if this sounds like the sort of place for you, don’t hesitate to join up or drop us a line in the c-box.

When signing up please select a first and last name and use proper capitalisation. Anything that deviates from this will be deleted without notice.

Blood is being shed, and there’s no telling who will continue standing where they initially rose. Some will change sides after a revelation, while others will remain headfast and steady. The mutants had harbored no ill will toward human kind, though there are rumors that they will longer take the insults any longer. They once desired peace and harmony, where both races could be considered as equals.
Now they want revenge.

Nights are getting longer and the days are getting colder as New York finds itself hurled into the depths of WINTER. Forecasters as predicting a particularly cold one this year with more than its fair share of snow, rain, sleet and ice that brings with it the promise of a white Christmas. But don’t forget to wrap up warm, we wouldn’t want you missing the seasonal festivities!

It has to be said we’ve all been eagerly watching this pair of fuzzy blue folks wondering how they’re going to cope with each other presences at the academy... And whether anyone is going to complain about all the blue fur blocking the sinks. Great work so far guys, we can’t wait to see more!
