HOW IT ALL HAPPENED
Wanda's story.

She didn’t make a sound. Despite the tears rolling down her cheeks and the sobs that shook her body, she didn’t make a sound. To make a sound was to admit defeat, to make a sound was to let anyone who cared to listen know the truth; that she was completely and utterly helpless. She was helplessly caught up in a world that didn’t seem to care about her or her plight, a world that had been cruel enough to kill her parents and separate her from her brother. The tears continued to fall. It wasn’t fair, she knew that, but she also knew that nothing in this life, or at least in her life, was fair. No, there was something decidedly wrong with her life and with the world in general.

The world, as she had discovered quite early in life, was a cold and lonely place. What she wanted, what she so desperately longed for was a change, for something different, for a world where she didn’t have to live in fear, a world where there were people who cared about her... A world where she would no longer spend night after night on the receiving end of her foster fathers drunken rage. Change, she cried to herself as she had done a million times before, please god, make it change. But it was not god that answered her but something else, something that had lurked deep within her all along; the power to make things change. The power to make the world a different place altogether.

It happened in the blink of an eye, suddenly she was no longer in her own room, she was somewhere else; another bedroom, like her own but somehow different, less gloomy. A room where posters and photographs of family, her real family, hung from the wall. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing, she couldn’t believe what had happened. “Wanda,” A male voice came from outside her door, before it opened and a familiar blond haired boy stuck his head around the door. “Mom say’s dinners ready.” The girl, Wanda, swallowed as a lump rose in her throat realising the full extent of what had happened, what she had made happen.

“Pietro!” She cried, unable to contain herself as she ran to the doorway to embrace her brother. “What’s gotten into you?” He asked, somewhat confused by his sisters affectionate outburst. It suddenly dawned on the girl that, somehow he did not realise what had happened, he had no clue that it was all wrong... It was all perfect beyond words, she now, somehow, had a new start, a new chance to live a life with her brother, to be happy. “It doesn‘t matter, everything‘s going to be alright now.” shaking her head she smiled and followed her brother to the dinning room, where she was greeted by their parents and a wonderful meal.

And, all the while, she couldn’t help but wonder whether anything else had changed...

Unbeknownst to Wanda Maximoff, a lot had changed, her simple wish had transformed the world into a new and very different place. A place where mutants were forced to register and work for the government, a place where mutant havens such as Salem Centre’s Xavier Institute (or Revolution Academy as it had been known in the real world) were found and shut down by government agents.

For most mutants there is now only four ways to live; join the government, be cured, hide or fight.

DO NOT POST BEFORE YOU HAVE RECEIVED THIS PM!
