The "Flitzer" has made its way onto the production line.
Some nice detail but some the the seams don't meet up to well on the main fuselage.
I think theres going to be some putty dust flying later dry.gif

The wing joints are nice though

Unlike the tail which has been a right pain in the arris to get right

On side slotted in nice and snug but the other was really loose and to a lot of persuasion to got level with its partner.

Tonight i've started what looks like a very old Revell 1/72 Heinkel He 219 UHU

To say the cockpit is bare is an understatement, 2 back to back bench seats and no detail at all.

Its made of really brittle plastic with raised detail and more rivets than the QE2.
Quite a few mould sink holes in prominent places which are probably going to tax my meager abilities.
Like these on the main fuselage near the wing roots

update on the He 219
All the bits are on but the kit has some extra holes confused0068.gif
I'm wondering if the same body was used for another version.
Anyone any idea what would have been fitted here?
Top of fuselage just behind the wings

Also there are square holes in the leading edge of both wings. should these be here or should i fill them?

The rectangular apertures should actually be oval race track shaped and are air intakes. The inner intake is for the engine supercharger and the outer one supplies air to the wing heater, this being for wing surface and aileron de-icing. The 219 was one hell of a piece of sophisticated kit for its day.

The holes in the fuselage are presumably intended to represent the Schräge Musik cannon, although they are spaced a little too far apart.

thanks peebeep
im afraid those holes will have to stay rectangular now happy.gif
To be honest they are the least of my worries with this kit. the wingspan come in 4 pieces, 5 if you include the fuselage and when first fitted from one tip to the other looked like a dogs back leg. its been a real pain to get them looking some like even.

I'll be honest, I've got a couple of Dragon 219's and whilst it's generally held that Dragon kits can be 'challenging', I wouldn't be bothering with this old Revell kit. Given that Revell released a 1/32 Ju 88 followed shortly by a new tool kit in 1/72, one might hope that the same pattern will occur with the He 219.

This kit was an "ebay bargain" so i didnt expect too much of it but i cant resist a bargain especially when its something a little different from a 109 or spitfire tongue.gif
