my plan is to add some texture to the base. in the past when ive used that green 'grass' stuff the model railway guys use ive found it an advantage to paint the base the same colour as a sort of undercoat so thought i would do the same with this. i just splodged it on as i only really needed a rough coat. thought i would do the building too roughly and then give it a proper coat later but i kinda like the uneven effect i got. gave it a coat of sepia wash to bring it out. however although i like the effect im not too happy about the colour. seems too 'orangey' to me.

got 3 choices

live with it

re paint it (but when you get an effect by accident you can never duplicate it deliberatly lol)

or hide it

what im doing is making a slurry wash of MiG sand....splodge it on, let it dry and brush it off, see what happens. if it works then great, if it dont i shall just wash it off and go to choice #2

Thankfully the modelling is better than the jokes laugh.gif

Why did the gangster double cross the road?
Or was the chicken a stool pigeon?

I think it will be okay as a base for some other materials to go over the orange.
The problem atm is simply the uniformity of texture. Once you start adding some textures am sure it will look great

Panzer has been painted DAK yellow, been kleered ready for decals and a wash

If you have a bag of fullers earth type cat litter you could grind it into a powder and use that.
Sand will look too coarse for the scale

The texture on the building looks the part! thunb.gif
