Thanks Dan! We're off for a spot of birdwatching this afternoon. I'm hoping to see some Marsh Harriers and Red Kite were reported the other week at the place where we're going, that would be a nice birthday treat.

Many Happy Returns and a great way to spend the day!
I hope the weather is kind. It is siling it down from very dark clouds here.

Raining here, too, but the forecast is for it to clear this afternoon. I'm not fussed, we will be able to look over the River Colne from inside hides or watch over the saltings from a visitor centre. We're going to Fingringhoe Wick near Colchester. Hopefully the army will be taking this afternoon off and not be using the ranges that are nearby!

Hope you have a good one. Didn't realise you were into Birdwatching as well. Hope the weather (and army) are kind and you get to see some rare ones.

Thanks guys, the army had the day off so there were no noises to scare the birdies away. Only one little raptor (a Hobby) to report, but a very enjoyable afternoon observing waders close to the River Colne and at nearby Abberton Reservoir.

John, I've always had a passing interest in ornithology but only in the last couple of years have Mrs B and myself been getting out and about to actually watch. She enrolled us in the Essex Wildlife Trust so we have access to places where we can visit and make use of the bird watching facilities.
