whipping around, ashleigh stood deadly still. the sounds around her were heightened. the cracking of sticks, crickets, birds chirping, water rushing not too far off. the sounds of the area was really familiar to ash these days. it was basically her fucking home - not something that she was particularly fond of though. no matter how much she despised her situation it was well worth going through it to get the revenge she needed, and wanted. anger blazed through her mind again as she waited for the sound of footsteps. each of the girls she'd been keeping tabs on and knew more about their lives than what they'd ever be willing to share with anyone - especially her. pushing back her blonde wavy hair, ash crossed her arms over her chest and smirked as the sound of footsteps finally hit her ears. moving swiftly and quietly, ashleigh tucked herself away into her hiding spot. it took a few moments, but eventually all four girls' faces came into view, and ashleigh's eyes narrowed. lifting her hand with her phone, she hit record and took a 30 second video of them circled around the well. the well that nearly two years ago they'd thrown her then-lifeless body down the well, leaving her there to die. obviously it's what they wanted - after all she'd done for them. after all she'd done to make their lives so fucking easy. to top it off, sawyer was the one who'd basically taken her spot. sneering to herself, ashleigh knew it'd be better for her to leave and let the others do the surveillance she'd instructed. instead, she found herself rooted to the spot she was at. although hidden very well, and not possible to be spotted, the fear of being revealed was still there.

we're falling out of trees
Image and video hosting by TinyPic
fall, fall out of trees into the street on my own. i finally found out. how long i can hang on, oh i got this all wrong. my heart is scared. my heart is gone. now looking around, there is no one here to hear my fall. white, white as a sheet. i saw a ghost, i think it was me. i got to get out, out of this town - it's scary. sometimes when i sleep, i miss my home, i miss my tree. now it's up to them, to carry me back up to the top. ❤

it was their decision as a group to make their way to the summer home of ashleigh fitzwilliam. this was the last first time either of them had been here since the tragic fate of their friend and that was the honest truth. though they bent the truth for their own future safety, the girls hadn’t done anything that ashleigh herself wouldn’t have done to them. each of them had been proud to be her friend and though their friendship was special in different ways, there was an underlying feeling of malice there. the other girl was cruel and had the innate ability to make any of them bend to her will. secrets had always been the true friend of ashleigh fitzwilliam and with that the petite blonde stood quietly beside the car, while shifting nervously on her feet. the two girls probably had the most reason to dislike one another and she couldn’t believe that she’d come here to see the other girl. however those text messages didn’t send themselves and now they were all full of a new fever, wanting to know more than ever if ashleigh fitzwilliam was dead or not. that night had been so chaotic and full of much discord that sawyer never wished to relive it. when they hit her with their car and decided to make the brash decision to throw the girl down a well, they’d ultimately overreacted. nothing like that should have ever happened and with that the past was coming back to haunt them. leaning against the car as one her friends shuffled through the back of the car for flashlights, sawyer pulled her cell forth and read the text from the girl once more. there was no way this could be her. ashleigh was dead and she was at the bottom of that well, where she needed to stay. breathing in deeply, she felt fear creep into her bones and shake her to the core as the sounds of the daunting woods overwhelmed her. ”come on guys, we can’t be here long.” she said as she placed the phone back into her jacket once more before making her way to the back of the car. ”do we have everything we need?” asked the teenager nervously, while leaning in to see what was going on.

i can't help it, i love the broken ones.
freshman year had included some of kolbi's best memories and one of her worse. coming to st. jude's academy had been rather nerve wrecking for the girl, especially since at the time she really didn't think she had any sort of a problem. doing her best to present herself in an acceptable manner, she did her best to make sure that no one knew the reason as to why she had been sent to the school. still to this day, only a few people knew the reasoning behind kolbi's enrollment into the school and one of those people had been her one time best friend, ashleigh fitzwilliam. kolbi and ashleigh, along with their three other best friends - ariel, sawyer and carter, they had all decided they needed to get away from the campus, spend some time alone and so they stole one of their parents cars and made their way to ashleigh's family's summer home. the trip itself had been good until the other girls had made a pit stop, coming back to the sight of their friend running away from something. sadly enough, they didn't see her until the last minute and ended up hitting. the horror struck through kolbi's eyes as she realized they had killed her. it was bad enough her mother hated her for having relations with a teacher, she couldn't even imagine what she would think if she found out that she had been one of the reasons that someone was dead. the girls freaked out, threw her into the well and hoped that the fact that there had been an obvious fight in the house that the suspicion would stay away from them. without a clue as to how it happened, it was the case and no one ever made the connection that the girls had been the one to kill her. now, two years later and they all had began receiving text messages from someone signing their name as "a" with texts that resembled something that ashleigh would do. they were all scared, confused and unsure what they should do and that was the reason they found themselves back at the summer home, determined to find out for sure if their one time friend was still in the well. standing there, her arms crossed around her chest, she looked to the other girls and then turned to sawyer. "yeah, i suppose. i mean, it's kind of hard to tell what we're going to need.. i've never had to look in a well to make sure someone's dead body was still there." she said, a hint of nervousness and fear in her voice.

I'VE GOT NOWHERE LEFT TO RUN

carson didn't know why she had even agreed to it in the first place. sure ashleigh had almost forced her hand into leaving campus all those years ago, but why did she agree to go back? she knew the consequences of their actions - she wasn't two lawyers' daughter for nothing, after all - and she didn't want to even get close to caught or even put under suspicion. it was enough pressure for her when the even first took place and the police asked ashleigh's closest friends to see if they could place her whereabouts.

ha, carson thought, at the idea that the four girls were her closest friends. they were close, maybe, but friends? in carson's case, it was a hardly sort of situation. ashleigh was often twisting people's arms and carson had tried to keep that from happening too often. basically, the two girls butt heads so often that carson often wondered if they were only friends because ashleigh knew her secrets. few people knew that she had been borderline suicidal at the age of thirteen, after all, except for ashleigh and the other girls.

she sighed, running a hand through her hair as she surveyed the semi-familiar group around her. they had grown apart a little since their freshman year, but at the very least, there was something still binding them. that didn't surprise carson, though. watching one of your closer friends being run over was just something that gave the four girls a connection of sorts. maybe she was being a bit sappy about it, but it was true, wasn't it?

carson mentally shook her head. she needed to stay in the moment and stop thinking about the past. what's done was done and she really just had to let go of that and let herself get used to the fact that now, someone who knew their secrets was threatening to expose them. carson knew that her past attempts at suicide weren't necessarily a secret, but she didn't give that up on a first meeting sort of thing. and then ... well, the fact that the girls had all basically killed their best friend wasn't exactly going to go well with carson's parents.

each one of them seemed nervous, and carson tried to keep her head on straight. they would simply find a body in the well, that's all. they just needed to know for a fact that the 'a' that kept texting them was simply a bluff, that someone was trying to scare them - and had succeeded. "flashlights," she said simply, licking her lips as she hugged herself. even in california, nights got a bit chilly and carson was glad she had decided to wear her sweater. "we'll need flashlights, and maybe something to ... i don't know, poke it with? just to check that it is what we think it is?" she said, trying to think back to old cases her parents talked about. none of them talked about finding a dead person in the well and what one was supposed to do about it.

well, other than call the cops, of course, but carson doubted any of the others would be up for that. hell, she wasn't up for that. honestly, she just wanted to get this over with. "can we just ... go so we can get this done?" she asked, suddenly unsure if she was shivering from nerves or the cold. oh, what she would do for a quick fix at that moment. but she had to focus. she had to focus on doing what they needed to to prove that ashleigh's body was still in that well.

all that's left are your bones
that will soon sink like stones.
it was an image that visited her in the depths of her sleepy mind, night after night. the numbed face of her friend just before she met her death, and after. often times, ariel would wake up in tears, trying to stifle the screams. the guilt and grief that she'd been suffering from, however, were well deserved. the whole thing was her fault after all. it didn't matter how much the other three girls tried to take some of the blame. ariel was the one driving the car that night, and that was a fact. a fact that no one could argue. although ariel had somewhat recovered from the horrifying secret she had been living with, the mysterious text messages had brought back every inch of fear that she had since buried.

the fog in the air was thick as the girls made their way to the very spot that ariel had avoided for the past two years. this time, she wasn't driving the car. this was how it should have been that night, and maybe ashleigh would still be alive. maybe they would all still be inseparable. her small hands were shaking as she slowly slid out of the backseat, shutting the door quietly after her. the well was a short walk away, hidden within the confines of the dark woods. she made her way to the trunk with sawyer, grabbing a few of the necessities the girls would need in order to make sure that body was where it was supposed to be.

there were four flashlights, one for each girl, that they had managed to get their hands on. some of the batteries were low, no doubt, but it would have to make due. she handed the flashlights to sawyer to pass around and retrieved a long ice scraper that was already in the trunk. "this should work", she pointed out after carson's suggestion and handed it to the tall brunette. lastly, ariel lifted a long rope over her shoulder and closed the trunk as silently as she could manage. someone would need to go down into the darkness of the well and the rope was essential in doing so. she had already made the conscious decision to volunteer and be the one to do so. it was the least she could do, seeing as the other girls were part of this because of her.

the pavement of the quiet road was moist from the mildew that was already forming in the cold, misty air. her dark curls were already going crazy on account of the moisture in the atmosphere. ariel's chocolate eyes hesitantly scanned the outer lining of the wooded area as she took an uneasy step in the well's direction. she slowly turned to face the rest of the girls behind her and gave them a reassuring nod. "here goes nothing", she said in a hushed voice as she turned back around to face the darkness ahead. the three others followed and after a couple of seconds, the trees had swallowed them whole.
