The time had come, something Aurelia avidly advertised, making sure that Amileah knew exactly what was going on. Quickly, the weyrling started gathering the pots and moving them to the dining hall. There would be enough room for people to gather and try to secure a hatchling. It took a few trips, but soon she had them all in place, the sand dug up from around them to reveal the eggs laying there, most making some sort of movement. Leaving Aurelia to guard the clutch, Amileah made her way to the kitchens, grabbing bowls and filling them with meat chunks for the new flitts that were soon to appear. Placing the bowls on a tray so she could carry them all, she moved back to the dining room, setting the bowls out of the way. "Alright, Aurelia. Let's wait for people to get here. I hope they show soon because I do not need a fair on my hands."

----------------
(Flirt impressed to Jaer'n)Purple Glory Egg – This egg is a dark purple swirled with blacks and greys. A warm, heavy aura seems to radiate from it.
(? impressed to Hailey)Faranth’s Flame Egg – Warm oranges spread from the base of the egg upwards to the crown, crossing a backdrop of umber with amber-oranges arches and towers. It seems to simmer in the air.
(Boss impressed to Lyr'c)Gold Dazzlement Egg – While at first glance it seems like it might be a gold egg, its golden surface is tainted with minute green speckles that are barely visible unless you get extremely close to it. It seems to cringe from contact with others.
(Shirk to Mythril)Ocean Wave Egg – A lazy pattern of deep blue and forest green cover this shell. A feeling of contentment surrounds this egg.
(Raver impressed to Shard)Ruby’s Core Egg – A light seems to glint from this scarlet red egg, bringing to mind that of a ruby. A sense of waiting can be felt.
(Covet impressed to Kamerin)Spring Shoots Egg – This egg is the vibrant, bright green of new growth, lines extending upupup. A sense of judgment emanates from this egg.
(? impressed to Hailey)Lavender Bounty Egg – A light purple egg, with patches of an almost blue purple spattered in puffs centered around the base. There does not seem to be much of a presence, but there is something there, a spark.
(Knight impressed to Mirja)Silver Lining Egg – This egg is a mass of grumbling, overcast greys. However, glints of silver appear here and there, line sun on clouds. All that can be felt from this egg is a sense of peace.
(? impressed to Kysen)Rukbat’s Glow Egg – A warm yellow egg with no deviation on its shell. It seems to be very happy and likes to quiver.
(Azure impressed to Seria)Minty Musings Egg – A pale pastel green, this egg doesn’t stand out too much in the group. A confident aura surrounds it, however.
(? impressed to Grahm)Jeweled Undertones Egg – At first glance, it appears like a simple mahogany egg. However, when the light hits it just right, it simply sparkles amber and dazzles the eye. A sense of waiting and restlessness come from this egg.
(Selene impressed to Melayna)Untainted Snow Egg – This egg is pristine, free from any stain or blotch. In the sun, it is blinding to look at. This egg seems to wait.
(Menthe impressed to Shard)Metal Rose Egg – There is a metallic glint to its rosy-gold shell, with slightly darker patterns that almost make the design of a rose. It seems generally happy.
(? impressed to Roanoke)Peaches’n’Cream Egg – This egg is a light, off-white color with swirls of pastel orange. It gives the appearance of being soft and gentle.

"Ami!"

Mythril sprinted down the hall, limbs flailing, as Nemo rounded the corner into the Dining Hall ahead of her. "Ah! Nemo, slow down!" The dark brown-black flitt creeled with delight at seeing Aurelia again and immediately settled beside the Gold with an eager look in his eye. The eggs glittered, almost apprehensively, in the light. Little girl was soon followed by a not-so-little dragon -- at least, not anymore -- the two of them panting when they slowed to a halt before the egg pots but still breathlessly happy. "I... I'm sorry I wasn't here to help, or something," Mythi told Amileah, reassuring Hope around her neck (who was quite rattled from all the running), "I really wanted to. I can't wait for them to hatch, though! This is so exciting..."

I'm sure Firenanth's mine will want one, Aliaviath told Mythi, eyeing the little clutch curiously. This is what the egg I hatched from looked like, Mimimine?

Oh no, your's was much bigger, love, Mythi told her, as she bowed to Aurelia. "Hello little queen. You look rather lovely today, and so does your clutch!"

Yes, yes, the little one's clutch is very pretty. Like jewels!

Mythril suddenly startled. "Oh, I brought a friend, too. But it seems I might have lost her..." She looked behind her just in time to see another girl, just as tall as she, stumble into the Dining Hall.

"Why... is this Weyr... so sharding complicated...?" the new girl muttered, walking forward with a weak smile. "Good day, I'm Kamerin. My -- ?"

" -- Mythril," Mythril reminded her.

" -- Mythril ran into me and told me that there was a flitt clutch and asked why I wasn't going to it. Told her I was new and didn't know," she continued. "And then that one," Kamerin jabbed a finger at Nemo, "started flying headlong down the corridor and I got lost on the way here -- by Rukbat's light! So many eggs! So many colors! Shards and shells, they look amazing!"

| ooc: Urggh. Trying to post; if I'm a bit rusty with these characters, please don't murder me. |

"Love, where are you going... ?"

An overexcited chirrup was all that greeted her question, and the beat of wings and flashing vision of halls that went with it. Sharp nose scented food on the air, but it wasn't a mealtime - and they weren't heading for the kitchens, Mirja could tell that merely by the saturation of the smell. The dining hall? That had to be where Aylen was leading her, but for what purpose?

The moment the green took up that low, insinuating hum, the blind girl knew precisely what was happening. The fire lizard clutch she had stumbled upon quite some time ago must be hatching! And Aylen had led her directly to it; clearly the creature wanted Hers to try to attach another friend. That, or she thought Mirja had need of another flitt for assistance. Seldom did lizard-kind take such initiative, but the girl did not question it, just chuckled tolerantly as the green settled herself on a table's edge, chirping an interruption to her own hum. Obligingly Mirja moved forward, letting lizard-relayed images and her own sense of space keep her from bumping into anyone or tumbling into the clutch itself.

"Amileah, yes?" Remembering the name of the clutchmother's bonded owner, she prompted Aylen silently and the lizard gave her some reckoning of the girl's position. "Congratulations once again - I hope you don't mind my presence here. Aylen sort of insisted," she chuckled, motioning languidly at the green.

~

"So you're new to the Weyr?"

Silence.

"Ahh... Any idea what rider brought you in?"

Silence.

A low sigh. It was very difficult to hold a conversation when one side seemed intent on not breathing a word, as Jaer'n was quickly finding. When even the cheerful bronze weyrling couldn't coax a word or two out of a girl, there was something incredibly wrong. Not with her, as the young man didn't think such uncharitable things of people - but was she, in fact, incapable of speech? He'd met someone around here who was, and that was a bit odd, but if that were the case, he was being incredibly insensitive by yammering on...

A'lir brought her, Tarmenth supplied helpfully from his side, casting a slightly baleful glance up at the new arrival His was escorting towards the kitchens. And I do not think she is disabled. Not talkative, there is nothing wrong with that.

Jaer'n snorted in silent amusement at his dragon's clear hint that he talked too much. As though he didn't know it! Falling into a silence to match that of his current companion's, he continued to move through the weyr's inner halls, following a well-worn path.

The girl by his side was an interesting figure, of a distinctly masculine build, with a scarred face and hair that fell to her shoulders in the front, than cut to the nape of her neck in the back. Unusual, as Jaer'n had thought. But she paused as they began to pass through the dining hall on the way to the kitchens, hazel eyes narrowing slightly as she took in the sight of a fire lizard clutch warming on the hearthstone, few people as of yet gathering around them. Without a word she turned away from her weyrling guide, though a glance back invited the young male to join her, if she so wished.

Sharing a quick look with Tarmenth, Jaer'n just shrugged, barging in towards the clutch and its owner with his usual grin. "Amileah! Aurelia's eggs about to break shell, then?" He prided himself on knowing all of his weyrling class, their dragons, and their lizard companions, as any good rider should. Glancing sidelong at the girl he had been escorting, now keeping a slight distance as she stared, enthralled, at the clutch, mouth in a slight 'o' of surprise. "Err - new Candidate A'lir brought in, not certain of her name, she doesn't talk much - "

"Melayna."

The voice cut through and Jaer'n looked up, startled, to see the girl looking back. Her tone had been surprisingly soft, not angry, just a touch uncomfortable. Nervous, maybe?

She managed the briefest hint of a smile before going back to observing the clutch, as though she had never seen anything like it before. Perhaps she hadn't.

“I don’t think we’re heading the right way towards the dining hall…” Kysen murmured, his eyes flickering around as he peered through the halls of the Weyr. He was walking besides his sister Serri, the pair of them walking fairly close together. The two of them had been at the Weyr for a grand two days, and as of yet they didn’t know where everything was. They had explored a little bit earlier, yes, but they hadn’t gotten the hang of things yet. The day before Kysen had spent most of his time in the infirmary after he had passed out from flying. That had been an experience he was now trying to forget, and inwardly he hoped that rumors hadn’t managed to get around about it just yet. Just think, a kid in a Weyr who hated heights, which included flying. A Candidate, no less; he was sure that he would never be rid of it if that story got out.

“Let’s just ask directions Ky,” Serri replied, rolling her eyes briefly before approaching the nearest drudge. “Where’s the dining hall?” she asked without even bothering to say hello, or even a polite excuse me. She just figured that the girl would be willing to answer her question without complaint. For her troubles, she earned a glare before the girl explained to her how to get there…she sounded fairly nasty about it, too. “Well, she wasn’t very nice.”

Shaking his head, Kysen just started off in the direction they had been told to go in. Sometimes he couldn’t believe how rude she could be to others; she was never rude to him, and he understood why she was that way, but…that didn’t mean it wasn’t annoying.

Eventually, the pair managed to reach the dining hall and walked inside, peering around for the eggs that they had been told would be there. They had been informed yesterday just before leaving the infirmary that a flitter Clutch would be hatching. Eager for this opportunity at seeing their very first hatching, the two had decided to go. Besides, it would also give them a chance to meet some people; they were sure that a fair amount of others would show up. After all, how common was a hatching, anyway? It couldn’t be too common or else the firelizards would be flying around crowding the skies and breathing all of the air.

Upon seeing the multitude of eggs, Kysen let his eyes glide over them. They were all different colors and sizes; he was surprised that so many could fit into such a tiny creature. He was sure that there were enough eggs for the entire Weyr. His gaze also took in the others nearby, and he smiled slightly, before picking out the person that he decided was the caretaker of the eggs. Before his sister could say anything and make a fool of the two of them, he approached her. “Hello. This is my sister Serri and I’m Kysen. We heard that there was a firelizard hatching going on soon?”

Meanwhile, Serri was busy staring at the eggs. They were all very pretty and wonderful; she couldn’t help wondering what sort of flitters would hatch from them. She had never seen a dragon before seeing the Searchrider who came to fetch them, and firelizards were fairly rare in her Hold. Some people had them but there weren’t as many as other Holds at. While she stared at the eggs she wondered what they would look like, and whether or not they matched the egg they hatched from. It would be interesting to see a blue egg hatch from a red egg, for example.

She eventually managed to tear her gaze from the eggs to notice the person Kysen had spoken too. “We’re pretty new here so we don’t know very much about this place. It took forever to find it…not everyone is very friendly, this one girl glared at me for just asking for directions.” Of course, she failed to mention that she had certainly earned the glare by failing to be polite to the other. But she didn’t need to know that, now did she?

Graham was wandering the corridors of the weyr, trying to familiarize himself with his new surroundings. He'd only just arrived a few prior, and already he was fairly certain he knew his way around. The weyr wasn't terribly large after all, and his curiosity would not allow him to sit like a useless lump in the candidate barracks. Preceding him down the corridor was a darting blue shape; his firelizard Boomer. They were fairly close to the kitchens when Boomer halted his sweeping flight through the hall. Graham paused and watched the flitter hovering, his rainbow eyes whirling excitedly. Giving a joyous creel, he suddenly darted down another branch of the corridor.

"Hey! Where are you going?" Graham called after the creature, hastening to catch up. With his long-legged lope, this proved to be a rather easy feat, especially since the kitchens were not too far from the dining hall where Boomer had nipped in. He entered at a more dignified pace than his sprint down the hall, looking around at small gathering of people-- and dragonets. Boomer had settled down near what appeared to be a firelizard clutch, and he thrummed along happily with the other adult firelizards present.

Graham approached the girl who apparently was impressed to the Gold who laid the clutch, joining the two new candidates that were talking to her. He vaguely recalled seeing them around the candidate barracks and knew they'd arrived around the same time as him as he caught the tail end of the girl's commentary to the weyrling. "Hi there, I'm Graham," he offered, smiling down at the other candidates and Amileah, as he towered over everyone in the room. "I'm new here as well so I haven't had much of a chance to get to know anyone yet.... Boomer led me here while we were exploring the weyr. He's the blue over there," he gestured to said flit with a smile.

It seemed Amileah was no to be disappointed. Plenty of people were showing up, and she supposed she shouldn't have been surprised that the very first person here was Mythril. The weyrling knew Nemo would urge her here as fast as he could. Aurelia crooned to her mate, nuzzling him before once more looking eagerly back at her clutch, throat vibrating with her humming. "It is okay, Mythi. I was fine by myself." she said. At the mention of a friend, she looked over at the girl behind Mythril, smiling warmly. "Thank you." Whil she was speaking, her mottled had been edging closer to Aliaviath, being bored with just sitting and watching eggs.

Hearing her name once more, she looked up to see the blind candidate. "Oh, hello, Mirja. You are very welcome to be here. All these babies will need a home. It seems like Aylen won't take no for an answer anyway." she told the girl with a slight chuckle.

Well, it seemed like her name was being called a lot today. With a grin, she turned to face one of her class's bronzeriders. "Hello, Jaer'n. How are you and Tarmenth? Oh, and yes, they are about to hatch." Bringing her attention back to them, she noticed the shaking of quite a few of the eggs had increased. When Jaer'n talked again, she forced herself to look back. "Hello, Melayna. You're very welcome to try for one." she suggested to the obviously enraptured girl.

Hearing a question thrown her way, she pulled her attention from Jaer'n and his candidate to look at a pair of them. The male of the pair mentioned they were siblings, causing Ami to nod. They did look similar, so she supposed that explained it. "Yes, this is a hatching. My gold's clutch." she informed the pair. She laughed at the mention of how hard it was to find. "Yes, the weyr can be confusing. I only know it as well as I do because I was probably the first candidate at the weyr. I came here with my uncle, who is the weyrleader." she explained. "So a lot of this place I helped build. It was exhausting...and wonderful."

Ah, it seemed as if she were being introduced to another candidate. Man, the weyr was starting to overflow with them again. "Hello, Grahm. I am Amileah, bonded to mottled blue Razynth. Your blue has good instincts. These eggs will start to crack soon.

Amileah was as good as her word. She had barely spoken that possibility when a loud crack cut through the chatter of the dining hall. The brooding grey shell of the Silver Lining Egg had a large crack stretching down the middle. Apparently, while people had been greeting and getting to know one another, it had increased its shaking until it could finally get out. The halves split, spilling out a well-formed bronze flitt. Standing up, he tried to appear regal in his clumsiness, wet wings dragging behind him. Following him was the Gold Dazzlement Egg . The flitt inside had been chipping away slowly but surely, pieces springing from the shell until a blue flitt sat in the base, blinking owlishly at those gathered.

Serri’s gaze flickered over towards the other new boy. Apparently, he was a new Candidate as well; that was nice to know. It seemed like maybe the two of them wouldn’t have a hard time meeting people after all. They were already surrounded by a bunch of other people, several firelizards, a dragonet, and of course the egg itself. “Hello. I’m Serri,” she said simply to him before nudging the male with her. She knew how reluctant to speak he could be sometimes; while she knew he wasn’t shy or anything; he did have some strange preference for just listening to people. She remembered how he had once mentioned that it allowed him to be amused while other people made fools of themselves. He tried very hard not to make a fool of himself, though he didn’t always succeed; his clumsy nature made that almost impossible.

Scowling at his sister, Kysen responded to the other Candidate’s greeting. “Kysen,” he said simply without elaborating. Once that was said he turned his attention back to the girl whose ‘lizard had Clutched these eggs. “That must have been nice…you’ve been able to see everything as it’s grown.” He guessed that meant that she had come here on purpose; he had been fairly reluctant, especially after learning that it meant riding a dragon briefly to get to here. That hadn’t been fun at all. He had been amazed that he had even survived the trip; it would have been way too easy to slip and fall.

Upon hearing the crack run through the hall, he turned his attention towards the eggs. His gaze went there just in time to see first the Bronze and then the little Blue hatch. Instinctively, he started to take a step foreword, his love of all creatures overtaking his mind. He really didn’t have any sort of idea on how he was supposed to behave; he had never been to any sort of hatching before. However, the helpless creatures called to him; his love of everything living had led to his apprenticing to be a Healer, and it showed.

Sensing her brother’s movements, Serri reached out quickly to grab him by the hand before he could move any closer. She didn’t think that would be a good idea; what if it was against protocol? If she knew anything about him, she knew that he would be the type to try to help one of the baby firelizards out of their eggs when they were stuck and having trouble getting out. It had taken her a long time earlier to persuade him to leave Flint back in the barracks. “Don’t. You might offend someone,” she told him.

Lyr'c was whistling a complex old harper's tune he'd just figured out on guitar not minutes before as he made his way towards the firelizards hatching. He'd always wanted one of those clever little dragon-like creatures, and his rubidium, Kilenth was more than excited at the possibility of a minion or two to rule over. The weyrling clutched a bulging bag of kitchen scraps in his left hand, swinging it from its drawstrings to the beat of his whistling. As always, the young man was cool and confident, walking as though nothing in the world could bring him down.

However, he was quite flabbergasted when he arrived on-scene of the hatching to discover a tiny bronze had hatched, quickly folloed by a blue. Paniced at the number of people that had already accumulated, a slight anger welled up inside of him. You were late. Your fault. Don't worry, there are plenty of eggs. Stay cool. His bonded reminded him gruffly, ever present, welcome or not, in Lyr'c mind. The young rider complied reluctantly, striding over to Amileah.

"Shells Amileah, I'm so sorry I'm late..." he shrugged, flashing an apologetic but altogether breath-taking half-smile. "I hope your little Aurelia will still let me have a go at impressing one of her children... Do I have your permission?" He said, making sure his voice was honey-coated and convincing. Really, he was more mad at himself than anything for missing the strt of the hatching, but he covered his emotions with grace and style.

The weyrling's eyes flickered to the clutch. Well, at least none of the other eggs were hatching yet. he still had a shot at impressing twelve unhatched firelizards. The bag of meat hung low to the ground, awaiting Lyr'c to reach down any minute and withdraw the precious red meat and pastries inside.

Hello, Razynth. At the sight of her clutch sibling, Aliaviath's already cheerful mood brightened considerably. She picked up her head to greet the Mottled before turning her attention back to the clutch, the firelizards, and her mine.

Mimimine has been very, very excited for this, she told Razynth. Very much so. She has been having trouble waking up in the mornings and getting to classes, but she would not miss this for anything. She even woke up before the little brown one! The lithe Green let out a draconic chuckle. Of course, she is also very concerned for Firenanth's mine and yours. It makes her worry lots. But don't tell yours! It will make her worry more -- oh look!

Alia butted Mythril in the waist gently. The little ones, mine!

Mythi laughed. "Yes, yes I see, Alialove. What a lovely Bronze, and a Blue, too!" The thought made her think of Berlioz, briefly, and how she hadn't seen her in so long. Perhaps it had something to do with her own anti-social behavior...? Nemo chirred, little voice thrumming in tune with Aurelia's quite happily. The Weyrling, unsure of how she would react, sent Hope back to their room, with promises to share any news later.

Kamerin bounced impaitently in place, glad that she had come with Mythril first so that she got a good spot to watch. Gleefully, the Candidate turned to the boy beside her, who was reaching for the flitts. "Oh! Be careful! Did you say your name was Kysen? I don't blame you, though, I've never been to one of these before -- they're so exciting, aren't they? -- and I'm trying to keep my hands to myself, too. They're just so lovely..."

((I don't actually need these two to impress, I just wanted to rp em smile.gif ))

Snappy voices echoed down the corridor accompanied by hard footfalls as a man and a woman strode down the halls of the weyr. The girl appeared to be flustered and indignant; the man exasperated and irritated. "You CAN'T just pop up in my business all the time! I am a young adult and fully capable of managing my own affairs!" Roanoke exclaimed, heatedly.

"Affairs is certainly an apt term for it," Z'eth waspishly replied, crossing his arms over his chest. She halted in her angry march and glared furiously at him. "If I want to be flirtatious and have relationships, it is not your place to interfer! That's all you ever do! Don't you have chores to be doing anyways, o mighty Searchrider?"

As Z'eth opened his mouth to retaliate, two distinct pops echoed down the stone corridor and doused them in cold air. A blur of green and bronze streaked around the bickering siblings, creeling excitedly. "What? What is it?" Z'eth said, his tone irritable. Eternity, the bronze, snipped at him and took off down the hall. Jasmine squeaked and followed in his wake. Eager to be rid of Z'eth, Roanoke hurried after them.

The flitts ducked into the dining hall, and light chatter flowed out the door as Roanoke approached. Poking her head in, she noted there were many candidates and weyrlings in the room. Her pride twinged a little-- she was at the weyr but not a candidate. Panting, Z'eth arrived at her side and she huffed and stepped into the room and hurried across to the other side to escape him. Rolling his eyes, Z'eth followed but did not approach her again. "Greetings, Amileah. Aurelia's clutch is finally hatching! how exciting!" he said to the weyrling. He prided himself on knowing most of the faces in the weyr, though today he noted a few new faces. Wonderful, candidates were a great necessity to the weyr.

Roanoke was transfixed upon the sight of the shaking eggs and the wandering flitts. New life was always so exciting! Smiling, she knelt upon the stone floor for a closer look as the blue and bronze flitts meadered about, shining from the wet contents of their eggs in the light of the room.
----------------
Graham smiled easily as the three introduced themselves, but before he could say anything else, everyone's attention turned to the jewel toned eggs as the first began to crack. The first to hatch was the beautiful little bronze, quickly followed by a bemused blue. Boomer gave a happy chirup at the miniature of himself-- blue was definitely the best color to be. wink.gif He glanced over at Serri and Kysen as the boy made to move closer to the eggs and was stopped by the girl. Probably a smart move on Serri's behalf; young flitts could be quite snappy.

"I'm not even certain I should try for another - I'll never get any rest, for fire lizards pushing and prodding me around all the time," the blind girl answered with a teasing tone, though there was clear affection in her voice not only for her green, but for the as-yet-unhatched lizards. Nonetheless Mirja found herself drifting towards the hearth, Aylen flitting back to land on her shoulder in order to make certain that she didn't bash into anyone.

Jaer'n lingered by Amileah, though, half an eye on the Candidate he had been showing around the weyr even as he spoke to the other girl. "We're both fine, and I hope Razynth is doing well? And you, of course, though I'm guessing you're a bit harried, dealing with the clutchmother and all," he added with an easy grin.

While Melayna did not respond vocally to the weyrling's words, she gave a slight nod, though her attention did not waver from the clutch. Jaer'n let out a sigh at her anti-social tendencies, raising a hand to brush through unruly red curls. He supposed he'd just have to wait around until the hatching was over, considering he didn't think the girl was going to budge. Particularly not now that a couple of the eggs were actually cracking...

All eyes were on that first splitting egg, the little bronze and the blue that followed him from a second egg. Melayna looked a little stunned, this being the first time she had witnessed the hatching of any dragonkind. She had seen the births of herdbeasts, canines and felines, and of course human young, but never anything like this - a hatching was much less laborious, she decided silently, much less strain on the young. And fascinating in a way she had been unaware of.

Aylen's excited chirrups and the small sounds of cracking shells alerted Mirja to the first flitters spilling out onto the hearth - a bronze and a blue, by the images relayed to her by her own lizard. A small smile touched the girl's lips, and she wondered if she even ought to stay here for the whole of the hatching, attempt to attract a friend for the green. There were quite a few people assembled, by the varied voices she could hear and the press of bodies around the clutch.

(Just to let you guys know, everything was decided by dice, including if anyone got more than one flitt. But I think everyone should be happy. =3)

During the commotion, Shard slipped into the room, hiding near the back, but in a place where she could still see the flitts. While she may not like people that much, she had a great love for flitts and loved watching them hatch. She eyed the people around her carefully, but all of them seemed to be here for the flitts as well, some seeming to already have their own. She supposed none of them could be that bad if they had a firelizard with them. Fingering the white streak in her hair, she focused her eyes on the two flitts already hatched, mesmerized by them.

While the bronze and blue seemed content to sit, another egg hatched, this one the Minty Musings Egg. Another blue spilled out, this one a much more cheerful counterpart to his brother blue. Instead of just sitting around, he decided he wished to explore these weird things who were staring at him. With a bemused chirp, he wandered closer, peering up and faces, an adorable tilt to his head. Eventually, he settled in front of Seria with a calm finality

This seemed to throw the other blue into action. Why should the other blue get all of his attention?! It was not fair! He could have waited. Honest, he was simply getting his bearings. Snootily, he stood up and meandered across the table, though instead of the regal look he was going for, he just looked cute as he waddled, not fully coordinated yet. Plopping down his behind in front of Lyr'c, he creeled for food and attention. Don't look at that girl! Look and him right now!

The bronze seemed content to wait for the time being, wandering over to investigate a nearby egg. It was the Spring Shoots Egg. It would wiggle, then stop, then wiggle again. This apparently fascinated the bronze flitter, who chirped in curiosity, poking at the egg with a taloned digit. As if protesting the treatment, the egg tried to roll away from the bronze, falling on its side and spilling out a blue. He chirped in affront at the bronze, glaring daggers at him.

Azure impressed to Seria
Blue - Liberality (pursuit of will)
Free from all narrow-minded thoughts, this blue has a great breadth of mind. He is open to anything and everything, willing to give all the benefit of the doubt. If he were a human, the flitt would be a great mediator because he allows nothing to influence his decisions. He tries to look at things objectively and not let his own feelings persuade him. Because of this, he is intelligent for a flitter, even though he is a blue. He has a bounty of excellent qualities; bountiful mind, bountiful strength, bountiful heart. This large, willful blue will turn out to be a favorite among all with his intelligent and loving nature. Despite his color, queens may find favor with him simply because he acts more like a bronze and is closer to the size of a brown. Despite any favoritism he may get, the blue will never let it go to his head.

? impressed tp Lyr'c
Blue - Avarice (disloyalty, deliberate betrayal, or treason, especially for personal gain)
This is a very greedy blue. But what he is greedy for is attention. Whether it is from females or people, he does not care as long as he gets it. It doesn’t even matter if the attention is bad or not, he just wants it. His need for attention is insatiable, and he will definitely covet and hoard anyone who will pay it to him. He will do anything for attention, which may make him seem disloyal to his owner, but it is his owner’s attention he desires above all others. Pamper him and he will do anything for you.

Kysen glanced back over at his sister and pulled his hand out of her grasp. He didn’t need her looking after him all the time; ever since that incident with the tree years ago she had taken to making sure he didn’t do anything which might harm him again. It was a little odd for her, since she didn’t show that same side of her to everyone, though in a way he had always found it comforting. It meant that she cared about him. He also wouldn’t have to worry about anything, since with two vigilant teenagers, nothing could go wrong, right?

Gaze flickering over towards the other girl who spoke, he blinked a few times as he tried to remember her name. He thought that he remembered something starting with a K…names were always hard for him when he first met someone. Shrugging, he deciding that he didn’t even need to mention her name; he could just pretend that he hadn’t heard it, or something. “I didn’t mean to start moving towards them. We’ve never been to any sort of hatching before. What are we supposed to do, anyway? Just stand here and wait for them to approach us?” he questioned. While he spoke he noticed the young Blue approaching his sister out of the corner of his eye and he turned his attention to the creature. He hadn’t even noticed it hatching. “Ser…I think he likes you.” He was automatically assuming that the creature was a boy, but if it turned out to be a girl, he could always say sorry for that later.

Serri, for her part, had been watching the young firelizards as they hatched from their eggs. They all seemed so different…the two Blues seemed to have completely different personalities. It was almost like they were people, rather than the firelizards they appeared to be. The second one to hatch had this cute little tilt to its head…Of course, she would never admit to how she found the little thing to be ‘cute’. At least not in public; she did not want to appear as one of those girls who screamed “so cuuuuute!” everytime they saw something adorable. Girls like that could be just plain annoying at times. “You think so?” she asked, bending down to get a closer look at the creature. He seemed so small right now, but she just figured that he would grow. “What am I supposed to do?” She figured that he would know, since he seemed to like animals and other creatures a little too much. Indeed, he seemed to like any sort of life in general far more than she thought was natural.

“I think he’s hungry,” Kysen responded. After spending all that time in an egg he guessed that would be natural; he knew that he himself was always hungry after a few hours in-between meals. From the behavior of Flint in the past, he guessed that creeling was what these creatures did when they were hungry. His head moved to the side as he looked for something which had food in it. “I’m not sure what sort of food they eat…” he commented.

When he answered Serri just nodded before looking over at Amileah. She was the owner of the Gold mother of the Clutch, so she should know what sort of things they eat. “What do I do? This little one is looking at me,” she questioned without preamble, her gaze turning to the little Blue. He was a light coloring, and his hide made him look very much like the clear sky. Just like her brother had named his canine, she guessed that naming this little firelizard was probably a good idea. It would make it easier for her to tell him apart from the others, anyway. “You look like…an Azure.”

Grinning, Amileah shrugged, pointing at the blue. "Seems you don't need my permission, eh, Lyr'c?" she asked, nudging him slightly before she looked back at the clutch. She glanced at Razy for a moment to see what he was doing, reassured that he was just talking to Aliaviath. She didn't try to listen, knowing the mottled liked his privacy sometimes. I bet. I am glad yours is feeling so much better, though. But...Ami and I have seen little of Firenanth's. Amimine misses her, and worries. She is sad a lot. he said, sounding somewhat down himself.

Turning to Seria, she motioned towards the bowls of meat scraps she had brought out earlier. "Feed him, coax him into your arms. Just stuff him until he falls asleep." she told the girl. "He should settle right down."

While Amileah was explaining things to the candidate, more eggs were busy shaking and hatching. The blue, who was still mad at the bronze who watched in a bemused fashion, turned up his nose at him, marching to the people. He hissed in displeasure at the other flitts, suddenly latching a hold of Kamerin's wrist, tugging. He wanted food and he wanted it now! Shaking his head at the blue's attitude, the bronze meandered over to the people, very curious. Seeing his mother, he chirped a question at her, one which she answered soothingly. Suddenly cheerful once more, he spotted someone who looked a bit different than the others. It was a surprise to the baby bronze when he realized she couldn't see him. He approached Mirja, gently touching her with a claw, cheeping up at her. He could help her, yes he could.

While these bondings were taking place, three more eggs chose then to hatch. These were the Metal Rose Egg, the Untainted Snow Egg, and the Ocean Wave Egg. From the first emerged a petite green who churred in contentment as she took in her surroundings. Following her was another green, her aura serene and comforting despite the confusing situation she had found herself in. The two sisters quickly banded together, looking at the last egg as it finally hatched, spilling out another green. The third green looked around with sleepy, half-lidded eyes as she yawned before looking at the two other greens who were regarding her curiously. Getting annoyed with the two sisters looking at her, the third green, stood and slowly moved away from them and to the nearest person. Near means less effort, and that was always a bonus for her. She easily latched on to Mythril's shirt, crankily demanding food.

Covet Impressed to Kamerin
Blue – Envy (an insatiable desire)
This blue is very envious of other flitts. Not that he lacks for anything, for surely his owner is a wonderful person, but he likes people. He has a longing to possess more people, wants them all for himself. If he sees a flitt give their owner attention, he will purposely chase them off, showing his resentment towards them. His ill will to other flitts easily shows up, so it might be a better idea that he is an only flitt to his owner. The blue will not fit into a fair very well at all because of his dislike for other flitts.

Bronze - Valour (pursuit of courage and knowledge)
This bronze is very gallant, just like the knights of old terra. He takes full pleasure in his duties, whatever they may be, and tries to be as helpful as possible to those around him. Extremely bold, he will not shy away from anything and is very determined, letting nothing stop him from reaching his goals. Some may call his bravery stupid, since it oftentimes gets him as well as his owner into some bit of trouble. However, he would rather not have it called stupidity. Instead, the little bronze views his actions as heroic courage; don’t let him catch you calling it anything otherwise because even the spirited and just knights had their limits and this little fighter can certainly let loose.

Shirk Impressed to Mythril
Green – Sloth (the failure to utilize one’s talents and gifts)
Laziness is all that is needed to describe this green. Her indolence knows no bounds and she can barely be moved to care. If she can’t ride on her owner’s shoulder, she’ll just stay somewhere where she can laze the day away. The only thing she will exert herself for is food, but only because she needs it. Other than that, she is very slack in her activities. Because of this, she is inclined to gain a bit of weight for a flitt, so her owner should encourage her to move about whether she wants to or not.

"Hey, you," Mythril murmured, feeling the tug on her shirt as the fire lizard clawed for her attention. Her other hand immediately reached for the nearest bowl of meat and offered it to the Green flitter with a small smile -- the flitt eyed her balefully at having to reach a bit for it but did so anyway, the exertion making the little creature creel, annoyed. "Oh, I see how it is," the girl teased. "Lazywings. Here. Have another for today, but it seems we're gonna have to work a little for things, hmm? How many activities are you gonna shirk, hmm?" She giggled. "Shirk. I like that name. Do you?"

The little firelizard chirred contentedly and slid up her arm, curling sleepily about Mythril's neck. The girl laughed. "All right. Guess it makes no difference to you, huh..." She cast a glance over at the older girl she had brought with her -- Kamerin was her name, right? She seemed to be getting some attention, too.

Oh yes. The candidate was having such a time with the Blue that had suddenly attached to her wrist, and wouldn't let go. "Oh!" she exclaimed, eyes searching for what the others were doing. She was supposed to feed him, was she? Kam extended her fingers towards a nearby meat bowl and held a piece out to the ravenous flitt, who immediately snapped it up and demanded another. He was hungry! This girl was his, so she should give him more --

--waitaminute.

His whirling eyes narrowed at the sight of that disagreeable Bronze clutchmate of his and that strange girl with the Green firelizard. No! He wanted her to see him, too! At the drop of a hat he fled from Kamerin's lap and sped off to meet Mirja in a flurry of blue wings and angry hisses. Kam frowned and gently pulled him back, grinning nervously at Mirja. "Sorry about that," she told her sheepishly. "Covet's a good name for him, ya think?"

So many were hatching - Melayna was more focused on this fact than those whom the little lizards were attaching themselves to, and the fact that none of them were her. Yet! That was the important thing to remember, though as she had stumbled upon this hatching purely by accident, she wasn't expecting to Impress one of the little creatures. Jaer'n had finally meandered over to stand by her side, watching the girl with amusement rather than the flitters.

Mirja, though, was watching as best she could through Aylen's images and her own sense of hearing and the motion around her. It was all interrupted by the green's happy shriek, as the little bronze tottered his way over to the blind girl. She was confused for a moment, but then there was a gentle claw prodding at her wrist, an inquisitive cheep, the brush of a tiny mind against her own. The girl chuckled, and immediately grabbed for some meat (she could smell the raw pieces a mile away) to offer to the bronze.

His first feeding was interrupted by an angry blue blur, and the girl instinctively interposed her hands between her bronze and the other lizard, only to meet with the feel of other skin tugging the creature away. From her shoulder, Aylen screeched a hard-edged warning to the little blue, but Mirja was more forgiving, chuckling gently at the voice she could hear addressing her as she returned to feeding the lizard before her.

"A good name indeed," she responded with a smile and a slight nod, reaching the hand not loaded with meat to soothe the green on her shoulder with a quick caress, then again the bronze before her. A name... he would need one as well. The new-hatched lizard chirped at her, then cast baleful eyes on the blue before returning to his meal, making Mirja laugh once again. "Fearless little thing, aren't you? I think I'll call you Knight," she murmured gently, stroking the creature's headknobs. "What do you think?" This question directed not at the flitt, but at the girl who had spoken to her.

Mine, the little gold one of Razynth's Mine's eggs are hatching.

Hailey's head came up, cracking her neck. "Ouch! Oh, that was way to fast. Now, what did you say, love?"

I said that those eggs of Razynth's Mine's little gold is hatching.

"Oh! It would be nice to have one, wouldn't it?" Hailey mused aloud. She pulled her hair back and tied a leather cord around her hair to keep it out of her face.

You really want one of those pesky little things?

Yes, I do. They are so cute! And it can keep you company when I can't be with you, love.

Wievenoth snorted. Ok, if you think it's a good idea, HaileyMine.

Hailey smiled at her beloved mottled-bronze lifemate. She turned and left her room and made her way to the Dining Cavern. She was hungery and thursty. She walked in and looked around. She spotted people crowded around a table that held the clutch, she assumed. She picked up a cup of juice and walked over. She hoped to attract one, but she didn't think she'd be lucky enough. She arrived just in time to witness the three eggs hatch, each one a green firelizard. Though she could see that a few eggs remained unhatched.

((Just gonna post something fail.... haha))

Watching the little ones hatch was so exciting! Roanoke had impressed to Jasmine so long ago that she forgot how awe-inspiring the event could be. The little bronze and blue impressed, along with two other blues and a green. She giggled at the procession of green flitters hatching, and watched the last one impress before her sisters. Jasmine creeled excitedly at the sight of all the greens; she loved gossiping around with her fellow greens.

Z'eth stood near the back, politely applauding the impressions and simply monitoring the hatching. He didn't really care to impress as he already had a firelizard of his own, but it was always fun to watch hatchings. He was cooling down from the argument that had sprung up at the kitchens and now glanced at his sister as she knelt on the flagstones at the front of the group. How could he stand back and let her make horrible mistakes in life when she appeared so young and vunerable, like now? He shook his head wearily.

Graham loved hatchings; the rocking eggs, the jewel toned eyes of newly impressed creatures, the bright colors of their hides.... and to think, soon he might be impressing to a dragon! It was a wonderful feeling. He glanced to the side as someone new came into their midst and grab a cup of juice before coming to join the throng. Since she was near to him, he turned to Hailey and said, "Isn't this so exciting? I do love hatchings, I can't wait til I get to stand before a dragon clutch though. I'm Graham, by the way, just arrived here a few days ago." He smiled at her and offered a hand to shake.

The greens chittered disapprovingly at their sister green before parting ways themselves. The first green who had hatched zeroed in on an unhappy aura from the back of the room. Moving farther down the table, she flapped her tiny wings and landed quite ungracefully on the arm of Shard, who was still hanging in the back of the group. To say the red-head was surprised would have been an understatement. However, the girl seemed happy enough, feeding the flitt after she secured some meat. The other green quickly found herself a person as well. The girl seemed so excited. Maybe she needed to calm herself a bit. Creeling, the green crawled into Melayna's hands.

While the greens were finding theirs, the brooder of the clutch, the Purple Glory Egg, was now beginning to shake. Heavy thumps echoed off the shell, indentations being made with each hit until the purple shell split, spilling out a bronze. Instead of the normal red of hunger, the bronze flitt had purple eyes, though they slowly morphed to red as he quickly realized his hunger. However, food was not to distract him! He could see those pretty greens over there with people. One in particular caught his eye, urging him closer. She was cuddled in the arms of a girl. Looking around, he spotted a nice person who was tantalizingly close to the green. The bronze quickly clambered up Jaer'n, hanging off the weyrling's arm to lean in closer to the green on Melyana. Oh she was pretty!

Two more eggs hatched after that. First was the Lavender Bounty Egg. From its shattered shell emerged n annoyed green who cried at the stubborn shell pieces stuck to her hide. Oh, this was awful! Could someone get these off of her please? They just made her glorious hide look dreadful. Grumbling, she rubbed up against another egg, tipping the thing over. As it fell, it split wide open, causing a blue to fall from the Jeweled Undertones Egg. This seem to cause a chain reaction before the blue tumbled into the Faranth’s Flame Egg, cracking up and freeing a brown flit. So of course all three blamed the other and began to squabble. The blue broke free first, wandering to the people and leaving behind what he thought was a very silly argument. Instead, he looked for an upstanding person who might be convinced to feed him. Oh! He were a likely fellow! The blue quickly scampered over to Grahm, looking up at him adoringly.

Menthe impressed to Shard
Green – Kindness (pursuit of charity)
Friendly with everything she does, this green will be very popular among both flitts and people. She takes a liking to most people and things, and even when she believes bad in others, she will simply avoid them rather than confront them, though she will try and keep others away from them too. Extremely benevolent, she graces almost everyone with her favor, very unselfish. Other than that, the green is very tender, especially around children, and almost mothers them.

Green - Patience (pursuit of peace)
Great emotional strength blesses this green. This asset had kept her from being flighty as most green flitts tend to be. Instead, she is extremely calm, casting a serene air around anyone who is near her and will be of great influence to her owner. Even when things do not go her way, she will weather things out with nary a complaint at all. She is very easy-going and one of the least-demanding flitts you could find. Through all things good and bad, this little green will endure unruffled, both inside and out, forever composed and never upset.

? impressed to Jaer'n
Bronze - Lust (excessive thoughts or desires of a sexual nature)
This bronze has an obvious desire for the opposite sex from the get go. As a hatchling, he won’t understand his liking for the females, but he will show off his ardent enthusiasm for them any chance he gets. He has a great zest for life, but is most passionate about his flights, joining any he possibly can. It can prove troublesome for his owner, so hopefully he or she will be very good in blocking out firelizard emotions. Otherwise they may end up sleeping with half the weyr if they aren’t careful. He will be a very good flitt, he will simply always be on the lookout for a pretty female flitter to flirt with; the more the better. If he could, this bronze would definitely have a harem.

? impressed to Grahm
Blue – Diligence (pursuit of ethics)
The ethics of this blue are impeccable. He is constant in his respect of others and wouldn’t even consider putting a talon out of line. He puts an earnest effort into everything he does, whether it is simply a fly by or a task put to him by his owner. Care is always taken when dealing with new acquaintances because he never wants to offend them, but caution is also always used, because the blue never knows if any will turn out to be bad influences.
