Jumping in the Deep EndPU has progressed quite a bit in the... what, almost a year its been running, so if you're entering now, you might be going "Merlin where do I start with this plot?"
Ok, so get into the mind of your character.
Ask yourself the following Yes and No questions:
- Does my character AGREE that wizards must protect their bloodlines
- Does my character SUPPORT Minister Lucy Mcnair?
- Is my character's family historically/canonically related to the Death Eaters/Purists of the books?
- Is my character in any way potentially cruel, twisted, evil or stereotypically dark?
- Do I think Johann Storm is hot stuff? - Oops, scrap the last one!
If you have answered mostly YES, you're probably set to be a purist (or most characters will expect you to be one!). If you have answered mostly NO, you're probably part of the light, and fond of Jane Potter. If you've answered fairly evenly, or can't decide, you're neutral, and you get to help out both sides. Often people who offer services will be neutral for the sake of their businesses and lives.
Ok, now that's sorted, head over to "Out and About" at the bottom of the forum for any latest plot thoughts and banter. Chip in your wild ideas, volunteer for others.
Chat in the cbox. We don't bite. Ask politely if anyone fancies setting up a plot. Send PMs to characters you may have a tenuous backstory with. (I personally ADORE these sort of PMs, because the end up turning into great requests).
Throw it on its head - make up a subplot of your own - bees vanishing, student mischief, whatever. We've had truth or dare, drinking parties in the paradise, hell, its even been ripped to pieces by great big monsters and half the population slaughtered.

Right, so it might take a little bit of brain work. I'd love to be able to see instant connections with every character from your profile, but I'm not yet a walking book of PU (working on it). Best way is to ask, throw ideas into the cauldron and join open threads. Hell, start an open thread, go wild.
Hope this helps (and is taken in humour...)
