Nero sat on his desk, not behind it in his chair, with a cigarette drooping from his mouth as he stared out the window. The sun was shining, the sky was blue, the clouds were fluffy and white ... it was a good day to torture the students, Or it would be if he wasn't so hung over. He couldn't quite remember who the pretty young witch was that had gone home with him, but he probably should. Something was telling him she wasn't the type to laugh it off if he forgot her name. He could remember dark, wicked eyes and a smirk that was all too knowing. He sighed a little and reached behind him to snag some papers off his chair, part of the reason he was sitting on his desk. The other reason was that he didn't like feeling as though a barrier was between him and his students. It wouldn't be the first time his students saw him in a state of rumpled disarray, nor would it be the last. He pushed the sleeves of his navy blue and cream striped shirt above his elbows, displaying well muscled forearms as he idly read the test he'd given the third years two weeks ago. He frowned a bit and snagged a quill, dipping it in a well of red ink and viciously correcting the errors that were mocking his teaching ability. They had covered this subject for 3 weeks, and still this person couldn't tell the difference between a flick and a twist, it was probably a good thing he believed in drilling theory before allowing the students to just have at it. This idiot would literally take someone's eye out, and it was a rather uncomfortable sensation before it was replaced. Nero knew from experience. He finished grading the first and moved to the second, raising an eyebrow and scratching his chin. He frowned a bit and rubbed his chin some more, definitely time to shave. He preferred doing it the old fashioned way instead of using a spell. There was something satisfying about watching the hair get scraped from your skin. The second test only had two questions wrong, which made him feel better. He wasn't a failure, he was just teaching idiots. He could deal with that. Nero sighed and glanced in the window, he wondered if the students would notice he was wearing the same thing he'd worn yesterday, merely picking them up off the floor and putting them back on. His vest was unbuttoned, shirt and pants were hopelessly wrinkled, and he was far too lazy to charm everything fresh and neat. He laughed a bit as he hopped off the desk to stand in front of the window. No, it wasn't that he didn't care, it was more that it was fun to see the kids reactions. Nero pulled his pocket watch out, rubbing his thumb across the familiar etched silver before opening it. Class would start soon, minds to mold, morals to offend. He smiled widely and continued to watch the clouds skitter across the bright blue of the sky. (ooc - click for outfit)

Steph caught a glimpse of the hour glasses set in their nook at the top of the steps to the floor the classrooms were on. It well and truly told her she was early and she exhaled with impatience. Thinking she might be late, she'd shot back from sending a parcel back home in the Paradise's post office, and now she was early, which was worse almost.
Well, only worse for Professor Hathan's class - not because he was horrible or in any way distasteful, but because Stephanie had to keep from her mind the thoughts of a terrific crush she'd been harbouring, which over Christmas had only gotten worse. Blushing at the merest thought, she stamped a booted foot, irritated with herself. It was just a crush and for Merlin's sake, she should have been through it all as a Hogwarts student, not right now, with one of her professors who wouldn't even give a second look at her.
If he found out, Stephanie presumed he'd equally be embarrassed, or flattered, or he'd laugh. He would not sweep her into his arms and declare undying love (such were some of her worst daydreams).
Walking as slowly as she could didn't help either. Those feet just had a mind of their own and they whisked her to the lecture room door. "Morning Professor!" She greeted, an gave him a smile. Oh dear, he was wearing yesterday's clothes wasn't he? But he still looked gorgeous. sh**, put those thoughts to the back of her head right now!
"Not such a good morning?" She asked, stepping inside and tilting her head thoughtfully.

Brynn's hair was up in a sloppy ponytail, she was rather well known for her hair being a bit messy. She never did much except throw it in a ponytail or pulling it up and shoving a pencil through it. She had been in a hurry to her Charms class, Nero Hathan being one of her favorite teachers. She hadn't spent much time on her own outfit, throwing on a pair of jeans she was decently sure were clean and a t-shirt that was folded in the neat way that only House elves could ever manage. The shirt was one of her favorites, an American muggle cartoon that her father had absolutely adored. She had a lot of Peanuts clothing, her mom buying her shirts and underwear whenever possible as though she was going to run out. (click)Brynn walked into the classroom, scratching an itch through the hole in her jeans that was over her knee. She was just in time to hear Stephanie's last two comments and arched an eyebrow at the older man. "Good time last night Professor H?" She asked, slowly eyeing his outfit from top to bottom. Yup, exactly what he'd been wearing the night before, only quite a bit more rumpled. She glanced over at the other brunette in the room. Poor Stephanie wasn't as good as she thought she was at hiding things like her crush. Brynn patted her on the shoulder as she made her way over to a desk at the front of the room and sat down, pulling out her sketchbook and a couple pencils before tossing her bag underneath the desk.

Nero turned away from the window, his first student had entered the room. "Morning Professor!" Her up beat attitude and perky smile was always a nice addition to class. Her eyes raked over him and he saw her struggle a bit with herself before she went on. "Not such a good morning?" As always Miss Obscurus was empathetic with the plights that he endured. Nero opened his mouth to regale her with the tale of his morning, throwing just enough tidbits in of his evening to make her blush, but he was interrupted by the entrance of a taller brunette with longer hair.
"Good time last night Professor H?" Brynn asked him, her eyebrows arched mockingly as she scrutinized his clothing. The cheek, but then it was his own fault for encouraging her for so long.
"Quite," He agreed, crossing his arms and arching his eyebrows at her, he knew that she knew he was mimicking her. "Nice pants," He turned his attention toward Stephanie again. "The problem with good nights is that you rarely have a good morning after," He informed her, sighed dramatically and she shaking his head.

Calculating cooking times in his head, Alex walked straight into the charms classroom, muttering numbers to himself, completely missing Professor Hathan in yesterday's clothes, that Brynn was sketching, or that his sister was looking shyly attentive. Putting his books down at a desk between them all, he walked to the back of the classroom, eyes to the ceiling, muttering, deciding, and then with a final
"That is what I shall do!" he turned back sat himself down and smiled oblivious.
"Oh, morning everyone!" He added after a few seconds, realising himself.

Asha was right behind Alexander as he walked into the classroom, and as per usual he completely missed her as he went to find a seat. He was always thinking of something or reading something, but it was part of what made him interesting. That and a rather adorable smile, not that Asha was fixating on it.
"That is what I shall do!" His eyes were facing toward the ceiling for a few more moments before he suddenly seemed to realize where he was and what he was supposed to be doing, "Oh, morning everyone!"
"Yes, good morning everyone," Asha repeated his words, smiling with good humor at the young mans antics and trying not to stare at the professors clothing ... she was fairly certain he'd worn the same thing the day before.

"Morning Alex, Asha .... are you sure you're with us now?" Nero asked, a faint smile on his face as he watched the young man. Mr. Obscurus was rather amusing truth to tell, he had a habit of getting distracted by something and continuing to stay distracted for hours. It was a talent few possessed. Nero's dark eyes hopped over to the young woman who's eyes were flicking to his clothing, then to the papers she was pulling out, then back to his clothing.
"What's the matter princess? Do I have a stain?" Nero schooled his expression to one of concern as he looked down at his shirt and pants, from the corner of his eye he could see the young Indian woman's cheeks turning scarlet from embarrassment. She was so easy to tease it almost wasn't worth it. Almost being the key word.
"Um, n-no," The brunette shook her head, huddling back into her seat and fixing her eyes to her desk top. Now he felt bad for teasing her.
"It's ok, I was just teasing. Don't clam up on me before class even begins," She was a sweet kid but one wrong term and she hid in her little defensive shell until she felt better. She peaked up at him with her big haunting eyes and he felt like a heel again, not many people had that talent, but the girl was just so damned sweet. It was like kicking a puppy to pick on her.

Sam looked at his watch and jumped from where he was sitting down. He was late and he hated to be late. Sam threw his bag up and started running as fast as he could. He passed through several people without even thinking about saying 'hi' and kept running until he reached the Charms classroom a few minutes later. Stopping a little bit to recover his breathe, he then walked in. There were several students inside already.
Sam tried to control his breathe when he said "Good morning everyone, professor." he nodded at every students and then to professor Hathan. He walked toward the front class and sat down on the nearest desk, alone. He was right in front of Asha Khan and Alexander Obscurus. Even though he knew all of them, he didn't really talk to any of them, except Asha. She was the newest member of his group of friends and was quickly becoming a good friend. But she was also a little bit bossy and it annoyed him. He wasn't that happy with the way she interrupted Henry and himself, it was rude. And worse, she was right about everything.
Still, he looked back and gave a rare smile.

Steph returned the smile from Sam to them all on instinct. He was quite a good looking guy. The room was filling, and it looked like the group was about to begin, so she unrolled a piece of parchment, and jotted down the date.
Then noticed Alex was daydreaming again, drew her wand and shot a spark at his backside - the most effective way of pulling him out of a daydream, or so she claimed. Actually it was just funny to see her twin brother jump out of his skin and clutch his buttocks...

Monty, who had just found his seat beside his old friend Alex, almost leapt out of his skin as Stephanie hexed Alexander's backside. Laughter broke out, and Monty, shaking his head, counteracted the hex with a wave of his wand, knowing Stephanie's usual style.
"Nice boots Steph." He chuckled, flicking his wand to make them shrink, before grinning at Alexander and exchanging a high five. You'd never have thought they were adults some days...

Brynn smiled sweetly and flicked her wand at Monty, blinking innocently as an elephant nose began growing, and his ears stretched into large pieces of gray leathery skin. "You've got something on your nose," she rubbed the tip of her own nose and flicked her wrist again, putting a shield up before anyone else could curse her back. She turned her attention back to her uncle.
"Quit picking on Asha, she's out of your league," She told him, her voice dry and carrying across the classroom as Nero raised his eyebrows and gave her an amused look. He got offended even less than she did, which was saying something. Being irritated is not the same as being offended after all.

Asha's eyes widened as she turned to see what was going on with the four students most likely to disrupt the classroom. Most might have thought she and her friends, but they didn't care to be caught which meant no all out war inside the classroom. That was left to the Obscurus twins, Monty Ollivander and Brynn. Currently Stephanie was having trouble with her boots and Monty had elephant features. Lovely. Then Brynn made her next comment and Asha sunk as low as she could in her seat, as her face flamed up in what had to be a bright blush. Professor Hathan made it worse by winking at her. She moaned a little and slipped further down, now more under her desk than on her chair. This was great.
"All right children, that's enough," Professor Hathan flicked out his wand, seemingly to reverse the curses that they'd been throwing at each other but Asha didn't want to lift her head high enough to check. She was quite happy trying to be invisible. "You, the bratly one," The professor was pointing at Brynn, "Since you've pretty much guaranteed one of my star students plays dead for the lesson, you get to be my guinea pig," He was smiling pleasantly at the brunette that everyone knew he adored.
Asha wondered again why Nero stayed at the school. Everyone loved him, he was a favorite teacher of more than half the school. He taught, but he always made it fun. He might be a bit wild during his personal hours, but they never spread into his teaching. At least not more than the beginning of the lessons when people felt the need to comment on his attire and why he may or may not have been wearing the same thing he had the day before.
"Watch carefully," Nero grinned at them all, waggling his eyebrows a little before flicking his wand and encasing Brynn in a sparkling blue bubble. "She's in a protective bubble, for added security reasons the bubble absorbs all spells that don't come from the caster's wand. The power is used to sustain the bubble, leaving whatever you have decided to protect safely encased," Nero poked the bubble with a finger that didn't go through the thin looking shell.

Belladonna, who had been sitting quietly, watching her childish classmates with disdain, was most intrigued by this protection spell. She had seen it performed, and read about it, but as yet had not attempted to practice it.
"She's in a protective bubble, for added security reasons the bubble absorbs all spells that don't come from the caster's wand. The power is used to sustain the bubble, leaving whatever you have decided to protect safely encased," Professor Hathan explained.
"Inanimate or animate?" Bella inquired, a concentrated look on her face. "What if Brynn were to cast magic to release herself from it at that moment, could she?" Bella asked, gesturing questionably.
