Fresh appeal for news regarding foot washed up on beach

Missing People has made a renewed appeal for information regarding the discovery of a foot in Merseyside three years ago.

The charity is calling on the public for help in identifying the human remains that were discovered on the beach at Hightown Beach, Southport on 17 November 2004.

The left foot was discovered inside a dark sock and a Kickers 'Tarmac' shoe, size 11, made of grey suede with a thick white sole and tread made out of the word ‘Kickers’. Only 500 pairs of these trainers were sold in the UK.

Missing People has checked their missing person’s records for clues as to a possible identity, but as yet no conclusive match has been made.

In order to help establish an identity police have released photos of an identical trainer to that found with the remains in the hope it may be recognised.

Teri Blythe, Head of Missing People’s Identification department, says: “In most cases an unidentified person is also a missing person, so it is likely that this person will have family and friends out there who do not know the fate of their loved one.

“We therefore hope that this appeal will bring some vital clues that will lead us to identify this person and put an end to someone’s distress.”
