A 74-year-old woman with Alzheimer's disease whose husband lost track of her at a popular shopping mall in Richmond, B.C., is missing, police said.

Kwan Fook Yu only speaks the Cantonese dialect of Chinese and requires medication, Richmond RCMP Cpl. Nycki Basra said Tuesday night.

"Mrs. Yu has moderate to advanced stages of Alzheimer's as well as osteoporosis," Basra said in a news release.

"Her family is very concerned for her well-being as she does not have the capability of returning home on her own and can become easily disoriented."

Yu was with her husband when she went missing in the Bay department store at Richmond Centre Mall around 2 p.m. Tuesday, police said.

A TransLink bus driver saw her boarding a 410 bus on No. 3 Road shortly after 4 p.m. The bus was heading to 22nd Street Station in New Westminster, a neighbouring municipality.

Yu is about 5-foot-1, weighs 90 pounds and has short straight white hair. She was wearing a black jacket, black pants and a blue hat.

Police are asking the public for help in locating her.
