Updated: Mon Dec. 21 2009 9:11:30 AM

Sun Youth is extending the $10,000 reward for a missing woman.

Marilyn Bergeron left her parents' Quebec City home on February 17, 2008.

She has not been seen since.

Bergeron was 24 years old when she left her parents' house to go for a walk, and was seen that day trying to get money out of a bank machine.

Her credit card was used at 4:30 p.m. at a Cafe Depot in St. Romuald, about 20 kilometres from her parents' home.

The cashier at the coffee shop remembered serving Bergeron, noting her depressed attitude and how quickly she left the shop.

Bergeron had been living in Montreal since 2005, but returned to Quebc City in February 2008, because she was afraid of something.

However she never told her family exactly what she was frightened of.

"At my parent's location she couldn't say what was wrong," said her sister Nathalie at the time. "She couldn't tell her what she was afraid of and the only thing she could do was to cry."

One year after Bergeron went missing, Sun Youth offered a $10,000 reward for any information leading to her discovery.

That reward offer was due to expire this month, but the offer has now been extended until June 5, 2010.

Bergeron is 24 years old, is 5 foot 7 inches tall, and weighs 115 pounds. She is white with brown hair and blue-green eyes. She has a tattoo of a Pegasus between her right shoulder and right breast.

Anyone with information about Bergeron is asked to call 418-641-AGIR (2447).

Quebec City, March 4th, 2008

Marilyn's 24-Hour Blitz — Results

A special search event to find Marilyn Bergeron—missing since February 17—was organized by her family over the weekend. Initially, nine cities across Canada were involved in this massive effort to locate Marilyn. By the end of the event on March 2nd at 1:00 p.m., over 20 cities in Canada had officially participated. Although Marilyn is still missing today, her family is very confident that all of the efforts from the population will help to bring her home soon.

-In Québec City (Carré d'Youville) and Montreal City (Place Émilie-Gamelin), the immediate family (her father Michel, sister Nathalie, and cousins Stephanie Pelletier and Jennylie Harel) lead a team of approximately 100 volunteers to search for Marilyn. In all neighborhoods of these two major cities of the province of Québec, over 18,000 tracks with Marilyn's information were distributed and over 4,000 posters were hung.

-In Saguenay City and the Lac-St-Jean area, more than 15 people responded to the invitation of Guylaine Bergeron to distribute over 1,000 posters in different locations, including shopping malls, ski resorts, arenas, and so on. Additionally, e-mails were sent through student networks to more than 1,000 students and professors.

-In Vancouver, over 500 posters were distributed by friends of Marilyn that live in the area. Marie-Ève Gagnon, her dear friend from childhood, was in charge of the operation.

-In Ontario, Anne-Marie Chouinard reported that over 200 posters were distributed in strategic locations in North Bay, Sturgeon Falls and Bonfield. Several friends of the family in Toronto and Hamilton also hung posters in tourist areas, bus stations, train stations, restaurants, universities, and so on.

-In Rimouski, Jovette Béchard organized eight teams of volunteers that distributed tracks and hung posters all around the city. Everyone participating in a special event (e.g., a provincial improvisation tournament, Sylvain Cossette's show, etc.) also left the city with posters and tracks to distribute in their hometown.

-In Baie-Comeau, a team of 18 people lead by Marlène Béchard posted Marilyn's information in all shops. The main companies in the city, such as Wal Mart, Alcoa, Abitibi, Le Corps des Commissionnaires Canadiens, Garda, etc., forwarded Marilyn's information to their national and international branches.

-Line and Jacques Guillemette focused on Rive-Sud of Québec and Beauce area with a team of over ten people that distributed hundreds of posters. Lucille Dignard, Jean-Yves Monnier and Jean-François Monnier concentrated their efforts in Granby.

Other Canadian cities or regions such as Fredericton, Sherbrooke, Ottawa, Trois-Rivières, Val D'Or, Drummonville, Englehart, Earlton, New-Liskeard, Stoneham, St-Gabriel-de-Valcartier, etc. participated in the event by distributing thousands of tracks and posters.

In California, friends of Marilyn's sister Nathalie are now putting together a donation system to help the family with the search and research expenses to find Marilyn.

Some spontaneous individual efforts included the distribution of Marilyn's disappearance information to many trucking companies, Facebook accounts, French and English videos posted on YouTube, company websites, employee's rooms, blogs, e-mails, and so on. This effort was not limited to Canada—the singer Seal added the information about Marilyn to his blog and the details of her disappearance are now posted in many blogs in China, Belgium, France, and so on.

Several television, radio, and print journalists were present to interview the family and volunteers during the weekend.

The family was truly moved by such generous participation from the population and want to tell everyone that they will be eternally grateful for such love and support.

We will find Marilyn.

The MMPFA WILL MEET WITH THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OF QUEBEC CITY

Sherbrooke, August 4th, 2008

PRESS RELEASE

The MMPFA WILL MEET WITH THE POLICE DEPARTMENT OF QUEBEC CITY

On August 5th, two founding fathers of the Murdered or Missing Persons' Families' Association (MMPFA) will meet the Police Department of Quebec City to review the police handling of the disappearance case of Marylin Bergeron.

Pierre-Hugues Boisvenu and Michel Surprenant will meet with the heads of the Criminal Investigations Division for the first time since the founding of the MMPFA in 2004.

At the last Annual General Meeting of MMPFA , several families had expressed their dissatisfaction with the work of the Police Department of Quebec city in the handling of criminal case investigations. The president of the MMPFA had invited the Director of the Police Department of Quebec City to meet with his association to discuss this important issue. His public invitation went unanswered. Therefore the MMPFA requested a meeting on August 5th at 10:30 am at the office of La Haute-Saint-Charles and des Rivières, 2780, rue de la Faune, Quebec.

The parents of Marilyn Bergeron, Andrée Béchard and Michel Bergeron, will accompany Mr. Boisvenu and Mr. Surprenant. Marilyn Bergeron, 24 years old, had gone missing in Quebec City on February 17, 2008. Since then, the police have been silent in the investigation despite all the efforts that the family have made to find their daughter.

Finally, the MMPFA has recently held discussions with the Minister of Public Security, Mr. Jacques Dupuis, about modernizing the police processes in criminal cases of disappearance in Quebec. The MMPFA and family Bergeron will give interviews immediately after the meeting with the Police Department of Quebec City.

LUCILLE DIGNARD WILL SWIM FOR HER MISSING COUSIN

Quebec City, August 3rd, 2008

Défi amateur International du Lac Memphrémagog

LUCILLE DIGNARD WILL SWIM FOR HER MISSING COUSIN

Lucille Dignard will participate in her third "Défi amateur de l’International du Lac Memphrémagog" on Sunday, August 3, 2008. This year, she will swim to support Marilyn Bergeron's family. Marilyn disappeared on February 17, 2008 from her parents' house in Quebec City. There has been no news or information since her disappearance. Marilyn is Lucille's second cousin. The Police of Quebec city is currently leading the investigation.

In the hope of finding new information and advice with the investigation, Marilyn's family is currently taking personal steps. They are supported by the Murdered or Missing Persons' Families' Association (MMPFA), created by Mr. Pierre-Hugues Boisvenu. The mission of the association is to assist families which are living this kind of nightmare.

To raise funds, Lucille will swim 2 kilometers. Her brother-in-law, Jacques Lépinay from Quebec City, will attempt the 5-kilometer swim. A third swimmer, Michel Bergeron (Marilyn's father), will attempt the 1-kilometer swim.

The money collected by the swimmers will be deposited in an account in trust in the name of "Finding Marilyn." Any money left in the account after Marilyn's search is ended will be given to the MMPFA association. Mr. Pierre-Hugues Boisvenu and Mr. Marcel Bolduc, two fathers who lost their children to violent deaths, announced that they will be present at the event to encourage the swimmers.

Anyone interested in making a donation or in joining the swim to support this cause can do it by contacting Lucille Dignard.

TWO HOURS OF HEART WORK

(A SAD ANNIVERSARY)

Quebec City, February 9th, 2009

A special search event to find Marilyn Bergeron has been organized by her family for Sunday, February 15, 2009. This event will occur from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. It is the hope of Marilyn's family that the search will rekindle awareness of her disappearance, which occurred nearly one year ago on February 17, 2008.

The February 15 blitz, named “Two hours of heart work,” takes place simultaneously in more than 35 Canadian cities, including Montreal, Quebec, Laval, Saguenay, Rimouski, Toronto, Vancouver, and so on.

During the two-hour event, family, friends, and volunteers will distribute flyers that contain the details of Marilyn's disappearance. The purpose of the event is to make the family's search visible again, to seek an indication of Marilyn's whereabouts, and to obtain information which may finally allow the family to find her.

In Montreal, Marilyn Bergeron's sister (Nathalie Bergeron), brother-in-law, and cousin will be at Place Emilie-Gamelin to meet with people and distribute information. In Quebec City, Marilyn's father (Michel Bergeron) will be in charge of the Place d'Youville location. Marilyn's mother (Andrée Béchard) will be at Cafe Depot of Saint-Romuald, the last location where Marilyn was seen on February 17, 2008. The complete list of people in charge and their locations all across Quebec and Canada can be found below.

The family is also supported by the Murdered or Missing Persons' Families' Assocation (MMPFA). People from the association will join the volunteers. Mr. Michel Surprenant, father of Julie Surprenant (missing since 1999), and one of the founding members of the MMPFA association

will be at the Place Emilie-Gamelin in Montreal. Mrs. Andrée Champagne, MMPFA coordinator for Quebec City and the East region for de l'AFPAD pour Québec et la région de l'Est, will be at Café Dépôt of Saint-Romuald.

In Montreal, the objective is to cover all subway stations. For this reason, there will be several meeting places where the flyers will be distributed, and stations will be “assigned” to organizers and volunteers.

The family's call goes out to any and all who can contribute to this effort to find Marilyn. Marilyn's family and friends miss her enormously. For those who cannot take part in the distribution of the flyers, it is asked that you send information from the Internet website http://www.findmarilyn.com to 15 people who are not aware of the disappearance of the young woman. Also on February 15th, there will be a mighty effort from friends who live elsewhere to send the details of Marilyn's disappearance, including all 50 states of the U.S.A. and many countries in the world. Please note that the Internet website http://www.findmarilyn.com will be updated with new details that may help with finding Marilyn.

There will be also two press conferences organized by the family of Marilyn Bergeron on February 17, 2009 in Montreal and Quebec. The details of these special press conferences and other events will be revealed via another press release which will be sent on February 10, 2009.

Thank you very much for your help!
