As the Eighth Wave crashes, more people join the Resistance... and more join to oppose them. As alliances begin to form, the DNA fusions begin, and true intentions behind the scientists are slowly going to reveal themselves... or are they?

The first thing Kazza felt as she woke up was throbbing pain from her foot and her head. A low groan echoed around the room, and the morph sat up slowly, feeling like she was about to throw up. She had the worst headache ever... She blinked a few times, glad the lights in her room were turned out, and wondered how long she'd been out for. Maybe half a day, she decided finally, when she saw the state of her wounds. Most were sealed and looked about a week old, save her toe. It looked raw and horrible. Despite her fast healing, not much had changed since she'd been knocked out, save for the fact that it had stopped bleeding freely. Pus now seeped from it. Forgetting that particular war wound, the Articuno gingerly touched the top of her head, cringing as pain shot through it. Talk about the headache from hell... She thought unhappily, and struggled to stand up. Careful not to put too much weight on her foot, she limped to teh bathroom, and stared at the mirror. She looked... Like a zombie, to put it mildly. Her head looked like Frakenstein's, without the stitches. the skin had re-sealed above her wound, but dried blood cacked her hair, and her skin was red, black and purple. Her face had an angry red handprint on it where Gaia had slapped her, and her clothes were as bloody as her hair. A collar sat tightly around Kazza's neck, and a light blinked on and off every now and then. A slight jolt ran through the adolescent as someone "accidently" nudged the control stick. Ha, yeah right. More likely Gaia and the otehr scientists were watching ehr right now and getting a great kick out of it. Thinking about that, she walked out of the bathroom and collapsed back on the bed, ignoring the pain coming from everywhere in her body, and trying to, and unsucesfully, push a huge headache away.

Bored, Mira walked back to her room. She had nothing better to do at this point. She had eaten to fill her empty stomach, and didn't feel like going down to the pool. She was a bit concious about people seeing her like this for some reason. Maybe when some other morphs were up wandering around, she'd do it. For now, she just felt like a nap.
She was a bit worried the others; some had disappeared, and some just headed down to research labs and hadn't come back yet. Was she the only one done? She wasn't sure. She'd noticed that Kazza was pretty beat up when she last saw her; was she okay? Maybe she should check...
Gingerly, she knocked on the door. "Anyone home?" she asked.

"Anyone home?" The words made Kazza cringe, and she bolted upright, then swore softly and groaned in her head. Sudden movements were a bad idea. Finally realising that the voice wasn't, in fact, Gaia's, Gale's or Ice's, but was actually Mira's, the morph relaxed and sighed, moving slowly to the door. She grinned as she imagined what she must look like to someone else, and opened the door. "Hey Mira. Come on in, join the party" The teenager grinned, and stepped back, hoping she didn't look as bad as she thought she had from what she'd seen in the mirror "Oh, and do you have a shirt I can borrow?" She said, suddenly remembering what had happened to her ones. "This one's ripped, and I still haven't washed my other one". Kazza fingered the collar around her neck absently, and closed her eyes for a few seconds, doing her best not to sway from side to side. "How've you been, by the way? Anything interesting happen while I was out? Oh, and if you see Gaia, punch her in the face for me, re-break her nose. I'm going to kill that woman" She almost growled the last part, and her eyes were open. One of them seemed to have blue specks in it. A sudden flurry of blackish-blue sparks almost made Kazza fall over. About time, too She thought happily, thankful that the healing process had kicked in again. The dancing flecks of light were getting darker, closer to black. She wasn't sure if this was good or bad, but, eitehr way, she was happy to feel her headache lessening.

Well, she was certainly changing. She'd seen the talons before, but the wings were new. What would happen if she herself got wings? She wondered about that for a minute and almost didn't hear the question.
"Sorry; I don't. I only have two, I'm wearing one, and the other one's ripped," she sighed. She was going to have to find a way to fix it somehow; she couldn't wear the same shirt for the rest of her life. This was Gaia's fault. "I met Raven down in the kitchen, and she was looking for you. Then she and Max got called down. I hope they're alright."
At the mere mention of Gaia, she shivered. She'd had enough of that crazy woman for one lifetime! "That woman was a psycho! Honestly, I thought I was going to die for a few moments there. The next time I see her... I don't know what I'll do! I just hope Luke can handle it better then I could..."

"Sorry; I don't. I only have two, I'm wearing one, and the other one's ripped," Kazza sighed at this response, but she'd been expecting it. "It's fine. I'll just have to get oen from... Somewhere else..." There was a michevious glint in her eyes. Maybe she could terrorize Ice until she gave her one... Afterall, she could be quite persuasive when she wanted to be. "I met Raven down in the kitchen, and she was looking for you. Then she and Max got called down. I hope they're alright." The morph chuckled. "They'll do better than I did... They've got each other, plus if I made Gale feel stressed, what do you think they're gonna do?" Kazza realised that Mira was staring at her wings, after saying all this. She felt slightly... uncomfortable about this, but didn't show it. Was this what the rest of her life would be like? Stuck in a cage, with people staring at her for hours and hours, then zap her for the hell of it? She shuddered at the thought, but quickly clamped down on the movement (It made her feel sick) and sank gratefully on to her bed. "That woman was a psycho! Honestly, I thought I was going to die for a few moments there. The next time I see her... I don't know what I'll do! I just hope Luke can handle it better then I could..." "Don't worry. She'll be speaking funny for a while, seeing as I broke her nose. At least, I think it was broken... I just wish that she was the one with this dumb collar on, and that I had the remote!" A slight grin appeared on her face as she imagined that. Ah, the fun I would have As if one of the scientists were reading her mind, a sudden electric shock ran through her, weaker than the other. perhpas it was just a malfunction, but either way, Kazza grabbed the collar and muttered something about what she'd do if Gaia was the one strapped to a chair... All in all, she wasn't having the best of days.

Mira was pretty shocked. "You actually hit her?! Sweet! I can't wait for my turn; she'll get everything she deserves, and then some," she decided. Normally, she was a forgiving person, but Gaia was too far beyond forgiveness. "I've never seen anyone with such an utter disregard for life before. And I've never been as scared as I was down there before. I'd rather never go there again. I'll fight the guards off if I have to!"
That was when she noticed the collar. Maybe, if she tried... She quietly focused her thoughts, trying to break the collar. She'd broken things with her new psychic powers before, but she hadn't tried this before. Hmm... nope; nothing. Maybe she needed more practice.

"You actually hit her?! Sweet! I can't wait for my turn; she'll get everything she deserves, and then some," Kazza grinned at Mira, remembering the blood gushing down Gaia's face. Yes, that had been sweet. "I've never seen anyone with such an utter disregard for life before. And I've never been as scared as I was down there before. I'd rather never go there again. I'll fight the guards off if I have to!" "I won't have to bother. Apparently, I have quite a reputation among the guards. They all seem to hink that bad luck follows me and anyone who comes near me. At least, I think they've got that sort of idea, since..." She trailed off and shuddered, her hands slipping off her collar. She gulped and continued. "Since only two guards made it out alive... Gaia shot the others.... And my toe..." Kazza said the last part as a joke but, in reality, she was still shaken up about the wound. Amazingly enough, her talon seemed to actually... Be regrowing the missing flesh. It made her wonder if there had been some Staryu DNA on those needles...

Mira shivered a bit. She'd probably be having nightmares about that woman for a few weeks at least after hearing that. What a nut! She hoped Luke would be okay facing her... At least Kazza's toe was healing.
"I wish I could heal that fast," she sighed. "It took me about two days to heal the burns after I went down there. Then again, that burn medicine Rocon gave me helped to speed it up a bit. It probably would've taken me much longer without it."

"I wish I could heal that fast," Mira sighed and Kazza shrugged. Her healing process was strange, to say the least. "It took me about two days to heal the burns after I went down there. Then again, that burn medicine Rocon gave me helped to speed it up a bit. It probably would've taken me much longer without it." These words formed an idea in the Articuno morph's mind. "Hey... You don't happen to have any wounds right now, do you? I've got an idea..." The now storm-cloud coloured sparks danced around her head, giving her an eerie black halo. Her wings were also darker than an Articuno's, the same colour as the sparks were at the moment. With my luck, they probably did put Staryu DNA on that needle... It would explain my toe regrowing, and how I can breathe underwater... But, then again, Gale didn't seem that careless about his work... Maybe I'm just a freak of, um, science? These thoughts didn't do anything to lighten her mood. Ah well. I'll just have to live with these... Umm... Abilities.... Yeah... Let's just call them that...

"Hm..." Mira took a moment to think about it. "Now that you mention it, my leg still hurts from that Raticate bite I got down there. Most of it healed, but it still stings. Will that work?" she asked. The darker sparks were making her a bit uneasy, but she shook it off. It was probably nothing, and if it wasn't, she'd deal with it.
She sat down and extended her leg. Down by the heel, there was still a distinctive scar from where the Raticate had bitten her. Apparently, it hadn't healed completely. She winced a little from the slight pain. Hopefully, this would work.

"Hm..." Mira paused, and Kazza waited, not that patiently, but it was good enough. A few seconds later she had her answer. "Now that you mention it, my leg still hurts from that Raticate bite I got down there. Most of it healed, but it still stings. Will that work?" The morph sat down and extended her leg, Kazza watching carefully. A scar, just above her heel. That must be what she was talking about. "Will it work? Well, to be truthful... I have absolutely no idea. I haven't tried this before, and I'm just acting on a kind of spurr of the moment thing, y'know?" And with that, she placed one of her tanned hands lightly on the injury, and colsed her eyes, a slight frown on her brow. The frown grew and Kazza shook slightly, almost unoticably, from the effort required to actually control her healing. Basically, until then, instinct had had free reign. Now, she was taking over. At least, she was trying to. For a minute or so, nothing much happened. Then, the sparks moved to the tips of her fingers, vibrated almost uncertaintly before sliding onto the scar. Although Kazza couldn't see this with her eyes closed, she could definately feel it. The strain was mainly mental, and now she was visible shaking. With a gasp, she pulled her hand back, and the sparks scattered, disappearing. A few lingered longer than others. "Did... Did it... work?" She asked, slowly, blinking a few times and rubbing her temples, watching sparks jump around on her fingers before sinking through the skin. Weird.

Mira took a better look at her leg. It definately felt better, but she needed to see if it looked better. Wow; now that was impressive. "It worked," she answered simply, still stunned. She couldn't even see a scar anymore; it looked just like it did before her play-time with Gaia.
"That's pretty cool. Guess I need to practice a bit more. I still can't do very much," she sighed.

"It worked," Mira said, looking like a stunned Magikarp. Kazza grinned slightly, and opened her eyes, but shut them just as quickly thanks to a sickening bout of nausea. "That's pretty cool. Guess I need to practice a bit more. I still can't do very much," "Hey, don't beat yourself up about it. I'm pretty much usless in other ways. I mean, how's breathing underwater gonna help us win a fight against the scientists? They'd probably just drain the pool if I tried to hide in there. And as for my wings? Too small to support me yet. My talons are a bloody nuisence, but, hey, at least if I step on someone's hand it'll be much more fun for me. Not so much for them, though..." She said thoughtfully. "Anyway, I bet you're probably better at controlling your powers than I am. Just healing that scratch of yours almost made me pass out" Kazza laughed weakly at her own, not very funny joke. It was true, afterall.
