VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR GROUNDBREAKING SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENT

Scientists at the Interregional Association for the Study and Research of Legendary Pokemon (IASRLP)

Are looking for resilient, young candidates (ages 15 to 18) to assist in the research, analyzation, and laboratory experimentation regarding pokemon commonly cited in myths and legends and yet rarely seen by human eyes.

Volunteers will take part in a major endeavor to shed light on the mysteries of the existence of such pokemon and in the process will form their own opinions and ideas that will help them in whatever path they may choose to pursue in their region.

In addition, all volunteers will have basic necessities provided for them during the internship, which will last approximately three weeks. This will include boarding, food, and medical needs. The laboratory is located on a small island between Johto and Sinnoh. Transportation via airplane will be provided. For the time and location of aircraft boarding for each region, as well as applications for the experiment, please call the number printed at the bottom of this paper…

This notice mysteriously appeared over the four main regions of the world-- Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh, and Hoenn. Although its purpose was vague and slightly ominous, many people applied to discover what the "groundbreaking scientific experiment" was that would allow them such a good look at legendary pokemon.

Little did they know... they were going to be the experiment.

As the Eighth Wave crashes, more people join the Resistance... and more join to oppose them. As alliances begin to form, the DNA fusions begin, and true intentions behind the scientists are slowly going to reveal themselves... or are they?

The RPG Collection

Also note that the user "Treblipotent" has returned to Pokemorphs Legend, and is now performing CPR on the site... or something like that. Check her return thread for more details.

Birth Name:

Yamato Kumori Ryu

Preferred Identification:

Matt

Sex:

Male

Age:

18

Physical Description:

Yamato is a rather tall and thin man, standing at six foot even and weighing only one-hundred and thirty-nine pounds. His height is divided quite proportionately through the upper and lower halves of his body, his torso only a little on the short side and his legs just a tad long in comparison. A little bit of muscle covers his frame, but nothing spectacular. The man’s build is somewhat feminine: a pointed chin; thin shoulders; long, slender fingers and a small, short nose.

Short, messy black hair covers Yamato’s head, a particularly long piece of fringe falling over the right side of his face. His narrow, laughing eyes are an unusual red colour, like a garnet in shade. He is usually wearing a mischievous smile, which reveals mostly white teeth in a particularly ominous fashion. Despite his Eastern name, Yamato can be described as white in both heritage and skin tone; his skin is borderline flat-out pale, only a bit of colour to the hide.

As for clothing, the man usually wears an outfit that suits the rest of his appearance, as well as his personality. Over his torso, Yamato wears a black muscle shirt tucked into a pair of matching trousers. He also sports a thin black jacket that looks a bit too long for him, a silver buckle joining the sides of the cloth at the waist. Yamato likes to wear tall black boots of leather material as well, though they are mostly hidden by his pants. Around his neck he bears a silver chain necklace with a pendant in the shape of a cursive ‘M’ hanging from the front.

Personality Analysis:

To the world in general, Yamato is a kind gentleman with excellent manners and fine etiquette. He acts polite, considerate, passionate and overall like a very nice man. The man likes to smile and will be properly respectful to people he doesn’t know. His kindness usually only lasts on people who do not interest him, however.

When Yamato wakes up in the morning, he possesses absolutely zero plans for the day ahead. Spontaneous by nature, he prefers to tackle issues as they arrive, and live life by the minute. His actions and reactions are decided at the exact moment they need to be decided, and no sooner. Also, he has been known to randomly come up with an idea for ‘fun’ out of the blue, though he tends to grow bored of his ‘projects’ fairly quickly.

Despite his otherwise calm and polite nature, Yamato is actually quite quick to anger. There are certain things that he simply does not tolerate. Rudeness, for example, is one thing he absolutely cannot stand; even though he can be quite rude himself sometimes, making him a hypocrite. He doesn’t seem to take note of this fact, however, and will always point out discourtesy when he sees it, if he doesn’t take it into his own hands to reprimand the offender. Other than that, his pet peeves usually trigger a mild reaction, though even that would seem odd to someone who has only ever seen Yamato’s usual side.

Another attribute contrary to Yamato’s usual attitude is something that he isn’t even aware of. The man is the victim of a mild case of psychopathy; his grandiose sense of self-worth, disregard for the safety of himself and others, lack of impulse control, irresponsibility, inability to tolerate boredom, tendency to lying, manipulative behaviour, lack of empathy and remorse, or diminished levels of anxiety and other emotions and failure to follow any life plans are all symptoms of the mental disorder. Somewhat fortunately for himself and others, the worst of these usually do not show except for around people Yamato knows particularly well.

Background Information:

Yamato was born in a rural town in the distant island country of Tsignia to a loving mother and a father that couldn’t care less. During Yamato’s early years, his father paid him no mind, leaving his mom to care for her son all on her own for most of the time. It wasn’t long before Mr. Ryu left their house and never came back, leaving his wife and child completely alone.

Thus, as Yamato grew older, he was given the task of being the ‘man of the house’. By the time he was seven he was taking care of his mother, whom he had grown to love very much. He did many chores, including cooking and cleaning, or at least as much as a boy of his age could handle without hurting himself. When he wasn’t at school or helping around the house, Yamato tried to spend as much time with his mother as he could. She was his world.

But around that time, something odd began to occur. Yamato began to fidget more, and his mother noticed that every time he started a project, personal or for school, he would quickly grow bored of it and drop it. Soon after, his grades began to drop. He became disinterested in the everyday world. His reactions to events and problems mellowed out until he seemed uncaring and unfeeling. The only person he would have a lively, full-hearted conversation with was, of course, his mom.

When Yamato was eleven, he was involved in a fight at school. Apparently, he had provoked another kid his age into punching him. According to witnesses, Yamato only fought back with more taunting words and ending up with a black eye and a split lip. He was sent home for his injuries, though as he never actually hit the other child, he wasn’t punished. When he got home, his mother confronted him, having heard about the days events. Yamato tried to shrug it off, but his mom insisted on him explaining his rude actions of the day. She seemed very upset to have discovered that her ‘perfect’ son would do such a horrible thing to another person. Yamato hated to see his mother so distressed, but he couldn’t and wouldn’t give her an answer. He told her that he needed to sleep, and would tell her in the morning.

The next day, Yamato discovered his mother dead in her bed with a clean stab wound in her chest and smaller, unidentifiable injuries on the rest of her body. Panicking, the boy called the police. It was obvious that the woman had been murdered with a knife, and also that something had actually torn away pieces of her flesh with a smaller object. There were, however, no clues were available at the crime scene to help point the investigators to a culprit. The case was named cold and Yamato was shipped off to an orphanage.

Yamato knew what he had done. He had tortured and killed his mother while she slept in her bed. Why had he done it? Because he didn’t want to see her upset? Because she had annoyed him with her nagging? Had he done it all on impulse? He wasn’t sure. All he knew was that he had done it he had killed his mother he was a murderer and now he was going to have to live with himself for the rest of his life. The mere thought of this was driving him insane. How could he have done such a thing? Even the previous day’s fight confused him. Why would he intentionally hurt anyone? How could he kill someone he loved?

He spent the next few years of his life withdrawn within himself, to afraid to let himself become too conscious of the world. If he paid attention to anything but himself, he might get distracted and lose control again. The last thing he wanted was to go on some spontaneous, murderous rampage and end up in prison for the rest of his life with the knowledge that he had killed innocent people. One stolen life was bad enough. So, he spoke no more than briefly to anyone, and only if absolutely necessary. He sat alone in a corner whenever he could, carefully monitoring his thoughts. Gradually he became aware that something was wrong with him, but if he kept it suppressed, he was sure it would go away.

…Right?

When Yamato was fifteen, he was sitting up in a tree of his orphanage’s courtyard. The other kids had just been called inside, but hidden from site, Yamato decided not to follow them. Instead, he remained seated on his branch until night had fallen. Then, without really thinking about it, he hopped the fence of the property and left. Without a real plan or any intentions, he walked down the road and never looked back.

It was then the other Yamato stepped back into play. For his amusement, the boy would hang out in public places and track down vulnerable people. Using lies and false advice, he would manipulate them into either doing small tasks for him or convincing them to make an important decision in their lives incorrectly. He never stuck with one person for long; he would befriend them long enough to ruin their lives and then slip back into the shadows.

He lived in this way until soon after he turned eighteen. It was then he came across a flyer about some kind internship in a faraway place; somewhere between Sinnoh and Johto. Though he sensed something odd about a research expedition coming from a place he had never heard of, he decided that it would be interesting to find out about. His curiosity getting the best of him, he wrote up an application and sent it in to be approved.
