Serious advertising campaign

I suggested this before but I got no reply whatsoever, the amount of activity in PD has greatly decreased lately, so why don't we advertise in all the boards that we go to ? maybe make it like a task, whoever advertises, in an active forum and provide us with a link of 3posts to his ad will count as one point to his favor, member with most points gets a reward, I have no idea what that reward might be, but it could be anything

Well, now you got a reply! I agree with your suggestion - more people wont hurt! However, one thing that we have to make sure stays if more people join PD is the close-knit community we have over here. Thats definitely a reason I come to PD

I'd advertise for a domain reward. Actually, I'd do it for free. PD is worth it.

I agree with this. I would be on more, but im really busy. But te activity has seemed pretty low.

Duv is hyperactive so he holds ~20 active users on PD and posts his works under their nicks. But as you know he's now away for a while, so that's what makes PD active

I am not sure if it's the right time to advertise, PD has always been inactive during this period as many people go on vacation.

I think we should hold off on advertising. Wait until v4 happens and then recruit people. In the meantime the few dedicated members who want to see activity here can work on resources such as gfx tutorials and resources, and whatever coding resources we can offer so that when v4 happens and we begin advertising we have something to offer.

Let me tell you a little something about how people choose boards to post at.... one of the FIRST things I look at when I decide whether or not to make an account on a board is the dates of the last activity on each board. If most of the boards haven't had posts for over a day or two it's not active and I won't register. People will do the same thing here. You will advertise everywhere you can, people will come, and be like 'this place is dead, f*** this' and leave. So advertising at this point probably won't help.

What we need to do is get the few members left here to be active (posting everyday) before we advertise. I would also suggest if you know anyone who you can ask as a favor to make some posts here. But when you advertise you're saying 'come to this site because it has something to offer' and PD has absolutely nothing to offer at the moment. This site has a shit amount of resources for the activity it's had in the past, and right now it's completely dead.

So before we even begin to advertise we need to make this site presentable enough to be advertised. It's like trying to sell a house, you need to clean it and make it look nice before you even think about having people look at it. If you don't do that people won't seriously consider buying it. Just like if we bring people to PD now, they will not seriously consider staying.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH MANCHESTER , we won 8-2 yesterday . And barcelona was playing against ahly (My national team favorite) and they won 4-1 only mwahahaha.

I agree with the resources part and the wait till V4

As for the activity, we can't just go spam around each forum, also someone like me will RARELY post in coding/skinning, because I know very little about both of them.

I got a brilliant idea, instead of getting new members, why not attract OLD ones ? check members with over 100posts and email them with the link and stuff

^I'm not saying go spam up the forums. But before all the PD members here became inactive they DID contribute posts to specific forums. Go post on whatever forums you can contribute to.

I also sincerely doubt that most of the old members would come back. Most of them left for a reason haha.

The only reason why I was on PD was because of the people.
If I want tutorials or resources there are plenty other websites or forums that offer much more. So for new people PD has next to nothing to offer.

PDv4 has to bring lots and lots of new stuff otherwise it's doomed to fail.
New forum, new skin, and plenty of resources should bring PD back to an active forum.
