PD needs some serious help

Hey guys.

To get to the point: two skinners we need!

PD4 was going way fast for a while, currently the only thing delaying it is the skin. The skinners we hire, will, of course, be volunteers. They will get to see our skin print, PD4 and receive admin access for the duration of the development!

Let me know if you're interested and post your best three skins here!

I didn't think there were any skinners left here...you may have to do some advertising outside the site for this.

Intern skinners have more to gain.. It's not that much of an honour if you're not totally into PD.. I'm trying internally first. If that doesn't work out, we can look externally.

lol, I don't think it's much of an honor either way....if anything you should feel honored if someone is dedicated enough to PD to put forth all the effort to code a skin for free for this dead forum.

And what are you trying to achieve with that comment?

Yea but, when you get skinners, will they be active enough to actually skin, I wouldn't count on anyone, not even me. If people aren't active enough to post, why are they going to spend hours working on PS and CSS.

With that being said, I will help if you need it. I think I'm off work the next few days.

Duv, I've got nothing against you personally, but I have posted here for a long f***in' time....I left for awhile and came back and everything is still the same...

This site is COMPLETELY DEAD...there is no denying that. Before you go expecting people to dedicate such vast amounts of effort and time to the site you need to give them something worth dedicating themselves to... My opinion from the start has been that you need a second admin. Someone to bring fresh ideas to this site. PD has amazing potential but it will never be reached the way it is currently being run.

Before you even bother with a v4 there should be a community here large enough and dedicated enough to deserve a v4. However, that's never going to happen. Why? Because there is absolutely NO form of advertising EVER done for this site and the very small number of people posting here continues to dwindle down as you and the staff do nothing to prevent it. This site NEEDS a community...v4 will NOT bring in new members, but getting a few active members and beginning to develop an actual community will.

Before I ever register on a site do you know what the very first thing I look at is? The post dates. I check the date of the latest post in each forum. That is a surefire way to gauge activity and I can honestly tell you that if I were to stumble upon this site unregistered I would not register for that reason. It is not fancy skins and layouts and shit that attract members...it is the community, the resources, and what the members of the forum have to offer that attracts members. Right now PD has absolutely nothing to offer.

So before you ask your members to feel 'honored' that you are asking them to waste their time and effort coding a skin while getting absolutely nothing in return, you need to give them a reason to feel proud to be a PD member.

I agree with Maggot, we we really should be looking for a community before we look for a PDv4.

I partially agree with Maggot.

It's been SO MUCH LONG since I last saw a new code being posted here. There are other forums around the InvisionFree networks which have been offering great innovative codes, which include jQuery and other addition scripting. The forums are newer than Phantom Designs, but it is currently much more active and powerful than we are. Perhaps one should try registering, they are great sources of inspiration.

On the other hand, I think people here should criticize less and try to help however they can. As Niccolò Machiavelli's ideas expressed, the result speaks for the methods. So, we should define a goal and work hard to get it done. Indeed a new look would have a great appeal and could possibly mean a new chance for PD. A new beginning.

^yes, but the issue with that is that right now v4 seems to have a priority over activity (though activity has never really had priority on this forum). Before v4 is even mentioned again we should develop a community. The single most important aspect of a forum is it's community. Without a solid community a forum has nothing. PD has nothing. Worry about getting members here first. Develop a community, wrangle people in, give them a reason to post here and then keep them active here through v4.
