Dragon Colors Gold: Gender: Female Impresses: Female only Size: 45-50 feet Color/Appearance: Dark rose gold, bronzey gold, up to lighter gold or yellow gold. Golds are the largest of the dragons, usually very muscular and powerful. Though not very feminine, they still somehow are beautiful, in their own strange way. Personality : Golds are usually proud of their station and can be quite arrogant. They are natural leaders and hate having their orders challenged in any way. Usually the most aggressive, some golds can be level headed, calm, and very motherly. However, constant tampering has left many golds physically or mentally handicapped. Clutches : 8-15 Eggs
Bronze: Gender: Male Impresses: Male only Size: 42-47 feet Color/Appearance: Dark bronze to a more olivy bronze, and up to a lighter bronze. Muscled powerhouses, Bronzes are the apex males of dragonkind, very brawny to the point of being boxy. Personality : Domineering and arrogant, with more than a tinge of aggression and natural dominance, Bronzes are the act first, think later males, and any blow to their pride requires quick retaliation. They require a firm hand to control in any situation.
Ammolite: Gender: Male Impresses: Either, primarily male Size: 40-45 feet Color/Appearance: They are oddly beautiful dragons, despite their harsh living conditions. Their bodies have a primarily yellow or red based, with all of the colors of the rainbow sliding over their hides. Personality : Cold, calculating and cunning, Ammolites aren't nearly as pretty in personality as their appearances might suggest. Though nearly as large as bronzes, they prefer thinking over simply reacting.
Labradorite: Gender: Female Impresses: Either, primarily female Size: 38-42 feet Color/Appearance: They are the female counterparts to ammolites. Instead of bright colors, they slide into primarily blues, with lacing of gold or silver throughout their forms. Serpentine and slender, they are the most delicate and lightest in weight of all the high ranks. Personality : Perhaps the smartest of all the dragon ranks, Labradorites give the sense that they're always thinking of the next angle, on how they can win the next battle. Though they can be mischievous and quite playful, this is not a trait usually seen in a Hold Labradorite. Clutches : 3-5 Eggs
Brown: Gender: Male Impresses: Typically men, very rarely women Size: 35-40 feet Color/Appearance: dark, chocolate brown to lighter, sandy brown to a more reddish brown. Browns are often nearly as large and muscular as Bronzes, though slightly more refined, with a tad bit sleeker build that allows them more maneuverability and agility on the battlefield and in the arena. Personality : Steady and typically calmer than most other dragons, they are more thinkers than fighters, though they have been known to throw their weight around, so to speak. They are loyal to a fault, and not only to their riders, but to those other pairs that win their friendship, and as such do not make real good rank-climbers.
Bornite : Gender: Either Impresses: Either Size: 32-36 feet Color/Appearance: The only dual-gendered rank, these bright orange dragons, with their flashy markings in white, gold, blue, and green, draw much attention wherever they go. Bornites are considered among the most attractive of the dragon ranks. Personality : Insolent and uncaring, Bornites don't give a crap about the status quo, and fight only when forced to, and while not lazy, they'll only do exactly what they're told to, to the letter, and won't expend themselves any further. They appear to have weak bonds with their riders, since they care about so little, but this isn't at all true in reality.
Blue: Gender: Male Impresses: Mostly men, rarely women Size: 28-34 Feet Color/Appearance: dark, stormy blue to a cerulean color, lightening to a more turquoise blue and a sky blue. Personality : Bright and outgoing, Blues are easy to train and prove surprisingly good fighters, able to come up with new attacks and defenses on the fly. They can be pranksters and are known to love a good joke, yet will become staunch defenders if they believe it has gone too far.
Green: Gender: Female Impresses:Mostly women, occasionally men Size: 22-28 Feet Color/Appearance: dark, pine green and emerald to spring green. Personality : Greens have a wide variety of personalities, some being flirty and fun while others are aggressive and moody. All tend to be quite seductive creatures, and can be quite fierce in defense of their mates and riders. As such it is quite hard to pin down a single personality type of a green, and nearly all personalities can be found within this rank.
Pyrite : Gender: Female Impresses: Female only Size: 15-18 Feet Color/Appearance: Pyrites are black or charcoal in color, occasionally with gold markings, though this seems to be rare. Very tiny, they have an almost delicate structure to them, though are actually surprisingly tough. Personality : Viscous little females, Pyrites are a danger to everything but their rider, turning on anything that even dares to threaten their partner or young, and often have to be restrained. Though small, they are exceptionally swift and dangerous in fights, and with an incredible pain tolerance, are known to literally battle themselves to death rather than give in. Clutches : 0-2 Eggs

General Information Flights *Flights are strictly monitored, with the rider of the Flying female being placed in isolation with the riders of the Chasing males. All losers are herded out of the room at the end of the Flight.
Hatching *Hatchings take place in a large, extremely well-guarded cavern deep inside the hold, where the female is placed and chained to a corner by a collar and a long chain, able to watch over her eggs, though the chain can be shortened when it is time for actual Hatching, so that she does not attack. The female's rider is also kept on the sands throughout the period from Clutching to Hatching.
Impression *Of age children, slaves, children of other dragonriders or wherhandlers, even convicts, are forced to stand for a Dragon Impression every available year, as well as dragonless or wherless that are still of age and of sound body.
Training *Training for weyrlings consists of eight months of physical training in hand to hand combat, mounted combat, and riderless combat. Drugs are slowly introduced into their systems at the end of their training.
Drugs *The rare flower Flordia, when ground into a powder, is enough to drive a dragon mad enough to overcome their initial instincts keeping them from fighting, and is introduced to a dragon at around eight months of age. Though expensive, it is the only thing that can actually force most dragons into fighting one another. However, prolonged use can decrease the dragon's life and will occasionally cause birth defects in dragonets.
Dragon Ranks *Dragon ranks are determined more by their fighting ability and the individual dragon's strength of personality than their color.
Alpha Queen: The top Queen over all the other Whers, she is the one female who has won out over all other Queens and rules the entire hierarchy. While most Queens are insipid, often mentally infirm creatures, an Alpha female is a dangerous being that retains all her original intelligence and often her power as well.
Alphas: Top ranked fighters, usually a high ranker, there have been the occasional lower ranks that receive this title. They get paid the highest commissions, and earn a certain amount of money for each fight won. There can be up to five Alphas at any one time.
Beta: The second tier of fighters, Betas are a step below the Alphas, and as such earn less commissions and are treated with less respect, though they are still some of the best fighters in the arenas and often hold leadership positions over the lower ranks. Betas often accompany Alphas in packs of two or three, fighting among themselves for higher ranks, and will occasionally challenge an Alpha to take their position. There will usually be about ten betas at any one time.
Gamma: Third tier of fighters, Gammas are the fighters that are not quite high enough to fight a Alpha or Beta, either through their age, or inexperience, or just plain not being skilled enough. They can move up or down, and constitute the largest rank, since all who do not fit elsewhere are placed in this category.
Omegas: The lowest of all the ranks, Omegas are usually beasts that are too inherently peaceful to be coerced into fighting. No matter their rank, Omegas exert a calming and soothing aura to any and all around them and can usually tame even the unruliest of their brethren. They are sometimes called in after the fights are over to soothe the fighters from their rages and allow them to be healed and, as such, are invaluable. Omegas are extremely rare.
