Out Of Character Name: Danica! Contact Details: PM and I'll give you AIM or MSN whichever.
In Character Name: Andromeda Calandra Tonks nee Black Age/Birthdate: Twenty-seven June 15 Occupation: Bloodline: Pure, but that doesn't really matter. Not now. If "traitor" were a bloodline she would own it. She would be queen of the blood traitors, she is sure.
Appearance: Her hair is dark brown that sometimes turns a little lighter in the summer. She likes to wear it long and wavy, it always feels better that way. She doesn't like tying it back (though she recently has found it prudent to do so for the presence of a young hair tugging girl). She often wears it pinned out of her face with bobby pins. Her hair style, though in her youth may have been about looking good, has become more about practicality.
She has the trademark pale skin, though hers is prone to freckles in the summer, but as long as she avoids sun they're usually pale enough that no one notices them.
her eyes are round and blue, with long lashes. Her eyes, she thinks, are nothing special. They don't hold the passion of Bella's, or the clear beauty of Narcissa's. She thinks they're too big and they remind her of doe eyes. She thinks since she has dark hair she should have dark eyes as well.
Her looks are a little softer than those of the rest of her family, her face kinder. She's not the heavy-lidded ice queen Bella is, and she doesn't posess the total perfection of Narcissa, and though it is debatable all through the years she lived with them she told herself she was just as pretty as them.
She'll admit she finds herself rather striking. Her features are all very small aside from her eyes which are enormous in comparison. She has a small mouth and an easy smile. She doesn't have any real distinguishable scars, she was a sickeningly well behaved child who was keen on avoiding situations where scars might come from, even despite having her sisters who both seemed to have an affinity for silly games. She was perfectly content to sit and read - though she did indulge in the odd game.
Even in spite of wanting to hide herself, you will never see Andromeda slouch. She was taught never to slouch and to always present as confidence. She can fake confidence like a pro. She assumes this is partly due to the fact that she never felt too awkward through adolescence. Her ability comes in handy, but she's constantly worried her confidence will come off as arrogance.
Through her school years she was rail skinny, but never fragile. She grew out of the skinny and became lean with a slight swell to her hips and a bit more overall roundness. She remembers fondly the first sign she was pregnant, the breasts that had long since eluded her seemed to have finally shown up. She thanks her little girl for giving her the gift of breasts, even if they were short lived, when it all was over her breasts were still bigger than they had been when she started, which she was still happy with.

Personality: What is important to Andromeda is order. Order and cleanliness in an almost obsessive way. She will spend time organizing and re-organizing, she has a knack for household spells, so this is short work. She sometimes does it manually, mostly only when she wants to pass time though, it's a stress relief mechanism for her. Through school she would pick up after her messier housemates if their mess sat too long, something many people chose to take advantage of. She likes things to look nice, and where it's possible she likes perfection. She does believe in perfection.
She prefers, and always has, to be forthright and can sometimes come off as harsh when doing so. She likes a puzzle. What she doesn't like are word games, she feels if someone can't come out and say something it's not worth saying at all. She's very perceptive and quite adept at gauging how people will react to her, it might not be effective all the time but it works quite well on most occasions and keeps her out of trouble.
Andromeda has what her mother referred to as an "old soul". She was always considered wise beyond her years, she never understood this though. There were times she felt right stupid. Though she is serious a lot of the time, she is capable of silliness and being immature. She isn't all work and no play, she'll engage in a completely sappy conversation about boys (or men now though calling them men to her has always felt so adult and foreign in her mouth) if it's what her partner wants to talk about. She likes to make people happy.
She doesn't like confrontation but this doesn't prevent her from arguing when she knows, beyond a doubt, she is right. Usually she avoids arguments, but somehow she feels differently about debates and arguing over the "little things". She has just never taken well to arguing over the big issues. Big issues hit where it hurts and she'd much rather avoid that hurt. Little things are safe to argue over, and they relieve stress. Just because she doesn't like to argue doesn't mean she can't. She's well versed n cruelty. She grew up with Cygnus and Druella after all.
She truly believes in the saying "One moment of freedom is worth more than a lifetime of bondage." and she tries to live her life by it. Her Freedom is what she wants more than anything, freedom from fear, from war, and from her family's ideals. Freedom, simple and complete, all she needs is a moment of it.
Brief History: Andromeda Calandra Black was the second child born to Cygnus and Druella Black. She was named Andromeda following loosely the Black family tradition of naming their children after stars and constellations. Andromeda always liked that she was named for an entire galaxy but always preferred to associate herself more with the Greek Princess Andromeda, at first only because she was a princess and then later because she liked the story. In Greek mythology Andromeda was sacrificed for her mother's arrogance then rescued by Perseus after he had slain Medusa. She now believes that her life followed that of the princess, her rescuer was Ted Tonks.
Growing up in with Druella for a mother meant she was forced into what are less formally known as play-dates so she could "build strong friendships" among the best families. Really all those play dates, she would realize later, were ways for their parents to train them for real tea parties and garden parties and balls. She usually presents a neutral indifference when it comes to social gatherings. She was happy to leave those behind her when she ran away.
She was lucky not being the oldest because it meant that usually someone else would take charge and decide on the game they would play. No one really disliked Andromeda and she never really disliked anyone else. There was a comfortable detachment between her and most other children her age.
It wasn't a surprise when she received her letter to Hogwarts, she had presented with signs of magic since she was seven. There wasn't much to the ride there and all she remembers now are nerves. She was nervous about going in the first place, and then there was being sorted. She didn't see the big deal though, Gryffindor was a respectable house. She thought it was respectable anyway. If she were sorted there she knew she would have to try even harder than in Slytherin to prove to her family she was still one of them. She was too scared to tell Bella any of this so she put on a front and suffered in silence.
She was sorted into Slytherin she would wonder all her life if this was because of her incessant begging or if it was actually because she belonged there. She didn't really mind Slytherin. The dungeon was damask and dark but her sister was there which was a comfort all on it's own. It wasn't for a year or two that Bella's presence became intrusive.. She sometimes wished to be somewhere else because then there wouldn't be anyone keeping an eye on her. There always seemed to be someone keeping an eye on her, if it wasn't Bellatrix it was someone who would run and tell Bellatrix. It started becoming worse around her third year and she began to feel the suffocation of her family then.
The only person she felt she could confide in was her cousin, and he was younger, younger in a way that made her sure she had to keep some details to herself and try to remain strong for him. After all how could she show him she was crumbling if he needed her for support? She needed to put up another, albeit a less intrusive, front of strength.
She met Ted eventually. With Ted she could breathe.
"It was hard to leave them...but it would have been worse if I had stayed."
She hated knowing she had hurt anyone. Her sisters especially who were her best friends all her life. She loved them and even if it didn't really show she knew she had hurt them deeply. She didn't want to have to leave, she didn't want to feel trapped either. She knew if she stayed she would be unhappy and she would be so far from her precious freedom that she would never be able to reach it.
Recently she gave birth to a little girl. She named her Nymphadora, little Dora. Ted teased her for a bit about how she could name the girl something so unusual after growing up as Andromeda, but Andy was a firm believer that her name had made her stronger, and made her destiny. The name came from water nymphs and in her own way she was following her parents. She named her daughter in Greek mythology, making her own sort of history. She doesn't expect it will carry down past Dora, it just felt nice to be a part of something she was raised with.
How did you hear about us? Myl was apping and asked my opinion, I was sort of enthralled by this place.
