Out Of Character
Name: Bethany
Contact Details: PM is just fine

In Character
Name: Molly Prewett Weasley
Age/Birthdate: 30/October 30, 1950
Occupation: Mother/Housewitch, member of the Order of the Phoenix
Bloodline: Pureblood, having come from the Prewett line; however, certain other families are not keen to admit this and consider her and the Weasley family “blood-traitors”.

Appearance: Upon first glance, Molly is a warm character, but unlike many first impressions, it is a true one. While she is not and never will be a trim woman, Molly’s weight is comfortable. She is not morbidly obese, but instead her body and face are rounded, evidence of the six children that she has already had and the one that will soon be on its way. Her face is warm and open, more evidence of her tendency to play the role of mother to anyone who needs it. However, years of mothering have put a no-nonsense spring in her step as well. Molly moves with purpose, wand at the ready in her robe or apron pocket, and Merlin help the one who angers her. Her brown eyes can harden in a snap, and what once was a genial woman can turn very easily into a sharp witch who accepts no excuses and no nonsense.

Molly dresses conservatively; as only Arthur works for a wage, a family with six children at various ages means that Molly has had to cut luxury from her appearance. She rarely wears new clothing, especially around her children (who, like other children, are prone to accidents), and relies on magic to help patch and tend to clothing rather than a tailor. At home (or in rare instances, the muggle world) Molly tends to wear hand-knit sweaters and long skirts, but in the wizarding world like Diagon Alley she dons her own robes. However, despite any shabbiness in her appearance, Molly is careful to always be clean and well-groomed (not easy with her children).

Character PB: Molly Ringwald

Personality: It is important to note at the start that though she grew up in a pureblood household, Molly Weasely (nee Prewett) was never given any ideas of superiority over muggles or “mixed” bloods by her parents. Most likely this was the cause of her family’s removal (or rather, forced absense) from the Black family tree, but in any case Molly grew up kind-hearted and sweet. She is at heart a mother in all aspects of the word, taking a great interest in those that surround her as she goes about her daily life. Molly often takes care of others first (sometimes to the detriment of her own well-being), making sure that all around her are comfortable and happy. Her free time is spent for others as well, knitting sweaters and preparing food for the Order meetings.

This does not mean that Molly goes around in a blissful haze of happiness. With her mothering also comes a legendary temper that can fuel itself for a matter of days. This happens only occasionally, when someone she knows has done something inconceivably stupid or dangerous; Molly does not get mad for trivial things such as spilt milk, but when her loved ones are in danger or threatened in any way, her temper comes out. (It is only during this time that Molly cooks the “muggle” way, just so that she can make noise to show her displeasure.)

It is also true that Molly can be something of a worry-wart, which is sometimes purposefully hidden behind her temper. She worries constantly about her loved ones and the state of the wizarding world, up to even inquiring of Dumbledore if he is eating enough at the school (for he looks quite skinny…). It is in Molly’s nature to fear losing those around her, especially in these troubling times.

This is not to say that Molly’s only concern is her husband and children. She is an independent force to be reckoned with, and always appreciates time away from the house and children when it can be managed. Molly can sometimes be a bit jealous of shiny baubles and trinkets, but is clear-headed enough (and financially-minded) to avoid spending money on such pretty things.

Her attitude towards magic is, to be honest, that of indifference. Molly does not think about the ways magic has enhanced or eased her life, simply because she has grown up with magic and has no reason to think about it. However, Molly has the opinion that those without magic (poor dears) are not in any way inferior, though she does prefer magic herself. Had one of her children been a squib, it is likely that Molly would have brushed the fact aside and learned to adapt to muggle ways for the sake of that child.

Brief History: Molly was born the oldest of three children in the countryside of western Great Britain, in the Moor area which was said to be where Gryffindor himself originated. She grew up to loving parents and brothers who, being brothers, enjoyed teasing her ruthlessly. (Nothing came out of this; like Fred and George, they did love their sister. ) Like her brothers, Molly obviously had a talent for magic (hardly surprising, considering the bloodline that she had inherited) and it was no surprise when she was invited to attend Hogwarts on her eleventh birthday.

Like many other children, Molly found a new world for herself at Hogwarts, even apart from the fact that she would meet her future husband there. Even within the Gryffindor house, Molly was still exposed to ideas and opinions (such as pureblood superiority) that were entirely shocking to her, given her sheltered childhood. These ideas would eventually lead, of course, to the start of the first Wizarding War, but it was within Hogwarts that Molly gained a mind and set of opinions on her own.

Upon graduating from Hogwarts, Molly soon eloped with Arthur Weasley, seeing how dangerous these times could be. This was not an action they regretted, as the love between them was real and solid. Within several years of their hasty marriage, Molly had given birth to her first three children, and joined the Order of the Phoenix as an unofficial mother to them. Though the action was risky, she opened the house up to them as a part-time headquarters, welcoming all members as family.
