It is March 2011 and the Earth is settling down after its various worldwide alien disasters, including the Master’s bid to start intergalactic warfare and the Sontarans’ bid to poison the planet and create a new cloning ground for their warfare. And as always, the Doctor leaves and carries on with his adventure into the vast universe, with so many new places to see and these days with one Donna Noble by his side.
Meanwhile Captain Jack Harkness continues to lead his small but efficient team in Torchwood, keeping watch over the Rift and the city of Cardiff, where a lot of the alien activity seems to gather. Tensions are running high as the alien activity increases and the seemingly clueless Welsh citizens are becoming more suspicious by the day; the secondary task of keeping the normal people around them safe and secure taking up their already busy lives.
Unbeknownst to the Doctor and his many friends, Torchwood and even UNIT, there is a force out there beyond anything so simple. A crack in time and space, sometimes visible but quite often invisible, making things disappear and even some things reappear. Such things that should not be possible. Some things that are supposed to be gone.
This fissure, slowly changing and shaping the universe, is affecting even the very essence of life itself. Time Lords are finding themselves no longer in the Time Lock, some even unable to sense the presence of other Time Lords, aliens are finding their powers reduced to nothing and while some individuals find themselves suddenly no longer in existence, other individuals find themselves no longer dead.
If this wasn’t crazy enough, it would seem as if the fissure is strong enough to bring forth lost individuals from different timelines or even a parallel universe…
The adventure has only just begun.
Our Time…begins!
