Stilwell will be 4a for state. My guess is they will be in that 40-52 range. Both will be hard pressed at state to match last year

Woodward returns 2 state placers and 2 state qualifiers and has been in the top ten the last two years. Vinita returns 1 state placer and 1 state qualifier along with the Roberts kid who did not compete at Regionals last year and has a good coach in my opinion. I think that Woodward [I]should finish in the top 10 as four to five kids are enough. Dual State and the actual state tournament are two totally different things and one team can be below average in duals but tough in tournaments and I agree that Woodward and Vinita will not make it out of their district but that has nothing to do with the state tournament. Here is a list of what the top teams have returning from last year... the first number is state qualifiers and the second number is state placers
Tuttle 1/6
Cushing 1/4
Catoosa 2/3
Clinton 2/3
Woodward 2/2
McLoud 1/2
Sallisaw 1/2 (unless Leach moved here then 1/3)
Blackwell 0/2
Vinitia 1/1
Bristow is down a class this year
Ft Gibson 1/0
Oolagah 0/1
Locust Grove 0/1
Not sure what Stilwell will have but probably three our four kids as well. Looks like lots of balance in this class as always and it will definately "not be down."

Big 4A Fan,
If you would not dare try to put together a top ten then how could you forecast who should be in it and who shouldn't?? Numbers do not lie and posted above is what each team has coming back with the exception of incoming freshmen of course, people quitting, injuries, etc.

The numbers are not correct on the above post. Tuttle qualified 9 last year and only graduated one of them. McLoud has 3 qualifiers returning and 2 of them were placers. Not sure on the others.

Actually after going back and looking Tuttle has 7 placers (off by one) back and one qualifier:
103-Roberts-1st
112-Nobody
119-Hawkins-4th
125-Boles-2nd
130-nobody
135-Coppenbarger-4th
140-nobody
145-nobody
152-Williams-1st, graduated
160-Gracey-2nd
171-Simpson-3rd
189-Williams-Qualifier
215Woods-1st

McLoud brings back Lisher (3rd),Parker (4th), Gunter (SQ). You were correct about McLoud obviously being from there. The list was compiled by just skimming through state tournament results so there might be a "miss" here and there but for the most part pretty close if not correct.

QUOTE (wrestle @ Oct 29 2009, 08:28 AM)
No need to talk stilwell or fort gibson in any conversation about top teams stilwell will qualify two for state and fort gibson one flame me if u want but tell me who will be at state for these teams before u do

When you count out Fort Gibson, thats when you'll be in for a suprise. West will be a state champion this year and he will make sure that his team is on track.

McLoud sent 8 starters to Carl Albert this weekend. They had 7 placers. McCormick split with Leslie of West Moore. Mouser got second at 112 losing a very close match with Dorrel of Del City in the finals by a score of 4-2. It was 2-2 with about 15 seconds left in the match. Parker lost a close match with Gregory of Harrah in the finals, and Gunter got second. Lisher got third, his only loss was by a last second reversal. They get their football boys today. We should see how good this team is on November 19th when they wrestle Harrah at OCU.

Hey that is great McLoud fan but you can't tell much from an open tournament the first weekend in November. Kids aren't at the right weights yet, some are not even close to being in shape, etc. That is great that you guys are having early season success but it is a looonnnnggggg way from February.

agree. As of most teams the football boys have not even reported yet. We know we are not the best team in 4A, we have a long ways to go, but we like to recognize our boys on this forum so that their names will be out there, as opposed to "Some McLoud kid". Good luck to your team this season.

Right back at ya and McLoud should still be in the middle of the pack top ten team in my opinion even after graduating some good kids.
