You have to put Login Grinstead up there with the rest. In his second year to wretle he was a runner-up at state lost in triple ot, as a Jr. he was uncontested on his way to dominating Class 3A and winning his First State Title.

perry has manley, tyler, groom, fisher, workman, galo, and hamby all could win it this year. perry is still going to be really tough there is nobody that will touch them in 3A dual state or 3A state tour

i agree perry will be very tough, but i wouldn't say nobody can touch them. there will be some very solid squads this year in 3a. its way to early to crown a champ. one or two injuries can change everything. looking forward to the season. good luck everyone!

No doubt they're the favorites but lets at least get the year started before we crown 'em.

great minds think alike doc. i think they are the frontrunner to win it, but they are not as stout as they were last year by any means. and i think the underdogs are alot stronger this year. perry may have more state champs than anyone else, but i still think it will be pretty close at state. i am anxious to see how newkirk and berryhill look this year. and of course cant forget bout kfisher either. there may be some others that jump up into top 5 as well that people are overlooking.

Well, i think they should just hold off on ordering the rings for right now. i think they ordered the rings in november last year. lol, i am only joking. i love the program that perry has got and i love the crowd they bring to state tournament. i think everyone should be jealous of that.

Well first of all I am a fan of Perry, and a proud one at that but I will try to not be to overbearing. There are a few that are, lets just say are, "out there" but I think everyone has a couple. I understand that this is the time of the year that everyone is optimistic and rightfully so, BUT I just don't think that there is any way that anyone can beat Perry "THIS" year. Perry just has to many points returning, not counting the young kids that will be stepping in for Rupp Swan and Hayes. If you take away the points that they scored and say that the new kids don't even make it to state Perry still will score around 120-130 pts. I just dont see anyone else even breaking 90. Next year when they loose Fisher, Gallo, Hamby, Workman, and Conrad, then things might get a little tighter. Like I said I'm not trying to rain on anyones parade but unless there is something I am missing I believe it will be alot like last year.

As much as I hate to agree, nobody is going to touch Perry at Dual State or State.

Things can change once the year gets started. Again, Perry is the heavy favorite but stuff happens and other teams could improve enough to challenge. It would only take a few upsets of Perry wrestlers in the opening round of state to make it a tighter race. I'm not saying it will happen and I agree that next year will be everyone elses best chance in awhile but you never know. I think Pawhuska, Berryhill, Newkirk and Kingfisher are the next strongest teams out there. There are also individuals who might not be on strong teams but will place at state themselves.

Doc I agree somewhat with everything you are saying but Perry would have to have a couple of kids not even place that were in the finals last year and the other teams would have to put 2 kids in the finals that didnt even place last year to make a 40 pt swing. I think 3 of the 4 teams you gave could and should score more points than they did last year but I dont the perry will score 80 pts less this year. Don't you just love this time of year. I wish all these kids the best and lets have a great 2009-2010 wrestling season.

don't forget about the new geary-watonga join.
these guys have a huge shot at shoking some people williamson. cowan. kennedy. All three of these guys should be getting their hand raised in late february. if they can pull a full team together watch out. but oh wait i forgot.. Go Perry! |

I understand what your saying and I love this time of year to. We'll just have to see how it all works out. Perry will still score a lot of points at state but I think it will be less than last year. In the past, Perry has had kids who either couldn't be challenged or only had one other kid in their weight that could beat them. I think there is enough other good kids out there this year that will be able to knock off some of the Perry boys when state gets here (I could be wrong). I don't see them replacing the points from Rupp, Hayes and Swan and I think one of their top 7 won't do quite has well this year as he did last year. I'm not trying to hate on Perry at all but when you're on the outside looking in, you try to find ways that someone else can win it all. Perry is the most dominant wrestling school (for its size) in the nation and they've earned that reputation. You've got the more likely prediction, I'm playing the underdog card. It should be a great year. |
