The sound of crickets were a comfort. Suddenly, a sound of a woman's cries pierced through the silence. Her feet pounding on the pavement with all her might. There was one goal in her mind: run. The child was wrapped in a dark blue blanket, and she held it closely to her, letting her warmth envelope the child as well. She looked down to see the icy blue eyes staring back at her with calm. In a time like this, the baby should have been crying, wailing. But not her baby. Her baby was practically fearless. She had entered the world with a smile, and barely cried. It was a wonder. The woman could hear the sound of the footsteps reverberating louder. She picked up the pace, and ran towards a house of an old acquaintance. He had promised her that he would take care of her baby while she was gone. For how long, she did not know. It might as well be forever. She might not live to see another day. But the baby - the baby should have a chance of living. The icy blue eyes stared back at her, and was it sadness that she saw in them? Her child was the most intelligent being she had seen in her entire life. She was able to feel her mother's despair at having to lose her child. One day she will understand why, but it was better to be separated.A quick knock, a word of exchange, and she was gone. Later in the night, there were gun shots, but to whom it had found a target in, it was unknown.comfortThere was comfort in running. Her feet hitting the ground as she pumped her legs. The wind in her face made her hair flutter behind her. Her heart palpitated fast, and she could feel the adrenalin coursing through her body. This was the closest thing she would get to feeling as if she could fly. Blake wished she could take flight like the mockingjays that often stopped near her window as she sang a quick tune as she was getting ready. She zigzag-ed through the trees, leaped over the roots, ducked under the looming branches. Letting a last burst of speed out of her as she darted towards the man with a slight stubble. "How did I do?" Blake grinned as she looked at the man expectantly. "Cut down on two minutes there. Impressive, for a six year old with short legs," he jokingly frowned, before his face broke out a grin. She beamed.trainFor as long as she could remember, she had been training for the Games. I don't want you to end up going in and dying on your first day, Derek had told her. There was still a year more until her first reaping, but she was prepared“i'm never afraid” vivien 15 ∙ sgt ∙ pm!Oh damn, she's been stuck in my head foreverrrrr and yes I know, I'm a character whore.
