The night had been an unnecessarily long one, in Astra's opinion. It had been her own doing, which wasn't really surprising. Astra was never one to sit and wait for things; she was someone to meet them head on in a way that was more aggressive then normal. At least when it came to problems like Nikolai Hart. If she had a tumor, she would name it Nikolai, because in the end that's what he was, a tumor. He was nothing more then a brat in a position in power, playing the politician. She was just waiting for the day that he screwed something major up because of his arrogance, or his temper and she got the order to take him out. It would be such a grand day, and Erata would be a much better place because of it. She had an idea of why it hadn't happened yet, and it had nothing to do with Nikolai's usefulness. Everyone knew he was about as useful as a slug. It would make sense to her if they were just keeping him around out of respect for his father. Pitiful, but it wouldn't surprise her. Vampires still had emotions...and they were extreme emotions.

But what the Sauld Clan did was none of her business, as long as it didn't leak into her job. Or as long as she didn't have to take out the trash, which the Arcion Elite Operations did for all the clans. But either way, the encounter with Nikolai had left her worse for wear. Nothing he had said had actually wounded her of course, and nothing he could say ever would. But he did get on her nerves. It was still nowhere near as badly as she got under his skin, and for that she had claimed victory. He really couldn't see that half of the time she was only manipulating him into anger, and reaction because it amused her. That and there was always the slight hope that he would stay mad and run his mouth to the wrong person, and get himself into trouble. She was ruthless about this, but she had him right where she wanted him, practically simpering and he didn't even know it.

But she still wanted to punch him in the face.

As she walked home, she enjoyed the quiet evening but she could feel the rage boiling under her skin. At least there weren't many vampires out at this hour, as it was only a few hours before dawn would appear. But she was eager to get home and bury herself in a good book. Or maybe vent to Sebastian if he wanted to listen to her. He had never had problems in the past, but it didn't stop her from feeling guilty about concerning him in all of her problems. It wasn't like he did the same, quite the opposite as far as she was concerned. But Sebastian would tell her what he wanted to tell her, like he always did. She wasn't one to push, even if he did tend to pry into her life in previous encounters. Particularly when she had been human.

Opening the door, she slid her shoes off and put her bag down. She allowed the blank look to slip from her face, finally allowing the tension and tiredness from the evening to spill onto her face and show fully. She rubbed her eyes for a few moments, listening to try and pinpoint Sebastian's location in the house. She wasn't sure though, as it was quiet. She rubbed her temples, locking the door briefly and began walking silently towards his personal library. Undoubtedly he was curled up in his chair still, nose burrowed in a book. She passed one of the human servants they had, a requirement for when they slept during the day in Erata. She snarled briefly, fangs exposed as the male bumped into her. He hurried quickly out of the way, and Astra growled to herself, continuing on to the library. Sure enough, she found Sebastian there, eyes enraptured by some ancient text.

She raised an eyebrow before lumbering over, and flopping on top of him with a loud sigh. "Did you eat?" She asked, burying her face in his neck and inhaling his scent in hopes it would calm her.

Some nights or rather mornings where Sebastian would just be engrossed in a book, or a thought that he would have to act on it learning nearly two hundred years later, he could do anything he wanted to do since he would live until the world came to an end, or rather if the sun exploded first and took out the earth, which he had a trillion and some odd years left. He wasn’t exactly counting, not that he had to either. He had spend the early part of the day writing, scribing down in on parchment, with a quill, it was hardly what people were using this day and age. Not that he cared. That he wanted to be all “technology dependent” he had watched the humans devour themselves in such a way that disgusted him, he could remember times without it. It was much less stressful, and when he would still enjoy a good boat ride, and when would tell astrology stories.

The writing, was of stories that his grandfather use to wake him up and tell him about. The astrology that he was given, the mythology he was taught. His grandfather was a Viking expert, because he was such a sailor, and explore, and tried to capture Rome. And his grandmother spoke how Rome was such a glorious, and eternal city, and how the surrounding cities and towns strives to be that way and how philosophy, and democracy was in the same building. He smiled remember the simpler times in his life. It was true, it was no were near October where is family would join him or make him rather celebrate his birthday. He had never viewed them as important; he would live forever less and was unsure why he was celebrating this disease?

But all in all, the parchment was a piled across his desk, as he watched the flame flicker in his chocolate brown eyes. His human servant, Renée had placed some cut up pineapple. It’s wasn’t exactly a favorite, but Sebastian tried to toss something rather healthy, but it was better than of course munching on a chocolate bar. But eating was something he forced himself to do; he didn’t enjoy “human food” as much as he enjoyed the human as the mean itself. But he was sitting back in his red arm velvet plush arm chair as he picked up Midsummer’s Night Dream, by Shakespeare. It was one that he could probably spout every were from memory, but he was just in a nostalgic mood, thinking of the stories of his grandfather that he knew were never transcribed to paper in this certain, and detail.

Turning the pages, as he read, his brown eyes locked, as he placed the book in his lap, and he continued to read even as he adjusted his sleeve on his blue shirt that were nearest his elbows rolled up neatly. Slowly exhaling, and inhaling and occasionally babbling in the bowl of pineapple. His ears heard the familiar footstep of Astra, he smiled, and the bond between these two was a cosmic explosion of two worlds. It just worked; there was no explanation about the situation. Though he could tell something was off with the young vampire. Astra was a person that he cared for, but he just got to know some of her tells, and was able to know her mood by the way she took a step on the carpet with how much force or how much or little. Without missing a beat Sebastian was ready for the arrival of her, and her actions of her nestling her face in his neck. Out of sheer habit he wrapped a lose arm around her to make sure she didn’t fall down. But not like the two vampires were going to lose their balance anytime soon. Also he didn’t seem so surprised by her words. “Trite cuisine with a shortfall of nourishment.” Sebastian spoke his voice was soft; his English was still laced with a thick German accent. Even after two hundred years he had not lost.

Almost immediately as Astra fell into Sebastian's arms, the female was lulled into a familiar contemplacy. It was one where her anger was calmed, even for the briefest of moments and her mind was clear to re-evalute the situations she was currently in. She didn't know what sort of leader Nikolai was...perhaps there was some sort of reason they kept him around. How intriguing that would be! She would have to ask Malachi for his opinion when she saw him next as he would be honest and tell her the truth. Even if her general dislike of Nikolai was well placed - she felt like she needed more of a reason to hate him as she did. Petty annoyances should not bother her like this. Perhaps she was simply taking her hate out on him when there was no one else around to stand against it? Yes...that seemed plausible.

She sighed a bit, continuing to nestle against Sebastian, much like a child in the embrace of a parent. Despite the fact Sebastian was not her father, and would never be her father, he did take care of her. Astra had begrudgingly learned to trust him with her life, and to let him take care of her when he needed to. It wasn't often considering Astra mostly took care of herself, but when she had initally went through the change it had occured and it had drove the halfling insane for quite some time. She had never been the dependant sort, even now Astra felt she relied too much on Sebastian. It was why she had a job. She never tried leaving though, as the bond between them that his changing her had caused was too strong. She still didn't see him as a father though. No, her parents had died some time ago in Lythia.

Frowning slightly at Sebastian's answer to her question, she mentally cursed the humans for their lack of intelligence. Sebastian needed something of actual substance, not pineapple. Though, the pineapple was tempting...she'd always had a love for it personally. However Sebastian had a taste for blood as he had always feasted on it. "Do you want me to cook something for you?" She asked calmly, one of her hands tracing lightly over his chest in a light possessive manner. Ever since she had been turned, her passion for cooking had never ceased. She had merely experimented with her new desire for blood, and how it could be cooked. It had been done before of course - so she didn't have to do much research, and the end results were to die for. It was also probably the only way she could coax him into eating human food without much hassle.
