Full Name: Joshua Thomas Guthrie
Code Name: Icarus
Nicknames: Jay, Jay-Bird
Occupation: Record Label Exec.
D.O.B: March 19th
Marital Status: Married to Laurie Guthrie nee Collins, Two children, Lailah and Lucas Guthrie

Height: 6'2"
Build: Jay by no means, is skinny like someone with his particular mutation should be. His healing factor and high metabolism allows for very little body fat on his frame, and he makes up for it with constant exercise and training. He is decently muscled. Man's got a six pack and tickets to the gun show, if you know what I mean.
Hair and Eyes: Jay sports reddish colored hair, not a true ginger, but with the red is an undertone of Brown, and he has dark hazel eyes to go with, though they often times look more green than brown.
Distinguishing Marks/Features: Jay sports seventeen feet of muscle and feather in the form of wings protruding from his back.

Personality:
Jay used to be closed off. It was that way for a while, but he changed after spending time with one particular Wallflower. It was a change for the better. While he had some issues growing up, the years have treated him well and he's adjusted, learning to put his past behind him fully and move on, living life like any normal grown man with seventeen feet of feathers and muscle protruding from his back, can.

It took him ages to finally put forth the effort to become an X-Man, but he did eventually, and it garnered him some deep friendships. People he'd fight for, people he'd defend, and in more than a few cases, people he'd die for.

He's still a good listener, though he's become a bit more opinionated in his years. He'll be the first to discourage a bad idea, or encourage a good one. He's also got a bit of a better sense of humor since his days in school, leading him to be rather...jolly. He's quick to smile, and even quicker to laugh now that he's got his life straight, and a family that depends on him.

With this happy go lucky turn around in his attitude, he's more open to talking with others, even sharing personal stories, though there's only one girl that's got his eye, his lovely wife Laurie. Of course she has to share his attention with their two children. He's very open with his little family, and even more so with the rest of the Guthrie hoard.

While he might not like to, Jay rarely gets angry, but when he does, watch out, he's a force to be reckoned with. He's not often violent, but if someone puts anyone he considers family in danger, he'll be the first to fight tooth and nail until they are safe again.

Mutation

Wings
The biggest factor in Jay's mutation, is his wings. They reach a span of seventeen feet and are a brilliant crimson red in color. Like most birds, he does have the occasional molting problem, and preens himself constantly. The wings are just as sensitive as any other normal appendage, though are fairly durable compared to the rest of him. With their durability, Jay can buffer most physical attacks with them and be for the most part, unharmed. He can even easily knock a person, or persons, down with a sweep of his wings, though the force is really only enough to throw them off balance.

The wings aren't just for show. Jay is entirely capable of flight, and does so often. He enjoys flying a great deal. He can reach some great heights. Over the years he's trained himself to reach even greater heights than before, cresting heights near to that of Mount Everest, though this tires him quickly and he can't maintain this altitude for more than a few minutes at most. His body has become accustomed to the lower temperatures and the thin air that comes with higher altitudes, and he often enjoys flying in the cover of clouds.

He can also carry others with him, but the heavier the individual, the more strain on his body. Just shy of two hundred pounds seems to be his current limit, but he's constantly pushing this as a part of his own personal training.

Healing Factor
Jay can heal himself, plain and simple. Small wounds only last a matter of minutes before they close themselves up and heal without a scar.

His healing factor isn't nearly as effective as say... Wolverine's. Though it's pretty close. He can come back from near death injuries with time being the only factor. Much like Wolverine, Jay's healing factor has slowed the aging process of his body, though not even close to the extreme of Logan's. Jay still visibly ages, just much slower than he really ought to. It must be a healing thing.

His healing factor comes from an enzyme produced from his wings. Were his wings to somehow be removed, his healing factor would vanish with them. Weather or not his wings would grow back however, is entirely speculation, as Jay has no plans on letting them get removed to test this theory.

Sound Mimicry
The most minimal part of Jay's mutation, is his ability to mimic nearly any sound he's ever heard. He can imitate voices having only heard them once. He can easily fool a person. Over time, it's become harder and harder for people to detect differences between his mimicry of a sound, and the actual sound itself. The only thing he can't fool yet, are computerized devices, but he's working on it.

Organic sounds are the easiest for him to imitate, voices, other sounds, and even animals. One of his pastimes is talking with the birds, even if he doesn't know what they're saying, or what he's saying back, he can sit for hours and just chirp back and forth with the birds.

While Organic sound is easiest for him to mimic, he can imitate other non organic sounds. The beep of a computer, the ringing of a phone, and even the sounds of instruments are within his range, though they won't sound nearly as good as the real thing.

He often uses this ability when he's playing his guitar, making it sound better, or when he sings. The latter being purely instinctual so it sounds as good as possible.

History
Jay is from a large family. His parents were always the loving sort, doing what they could to provide for all their children, and do what needed doing. Teaching them good morals, how to be decent people, and how to provide for themselves as soon as they were able. It's every American family's dream. House, kids, yard with a dog, loving spouse, and just enough to get by.

It was all well and good until the head of household died. Jay's father was a miner. He lived a mining life, and died a mining life. By then, Sam was old enough to bring in the money for the family, taking up his father's responsibility. Jay was still too young, but he did what he could to help. At nine, that really isn't all that much, but what can you ask of a young boy?

Well, there was another mining accident.

Sam got off lucky. That's what Jay would tell anyone who asked. He'd been the first in town to pop up with his mutant Gene. It's what saved him, and those other miners with him. Sam was everyone's hero. With Sam sporting a mutation, Jay felt... daunted. He'd idolized his brother, wanted to be just like him growing up. That wouldn't happen now. Not any time soon, not ever. His brother was a mutant, and that's all she wrote.

When Sam left, it was up to Jay to help run the house. That was all well and good for a while, until his own mutation kicked in. Sprouting an impressive set of crimson wings at the onset of puberty did wonders for Jay's self esteem. Truly. He had to hide it of course, because where Sam could do fantastic things, Jay just had these huge wings.

He dropped out of school. His mother wasn't pleased, but he couldn't chance it. He was still too wary of anyone knowing about his wings. The last thing he wanted was to start a riot.

Eventually though, that's what he did. He'd taken up post as one quarter of a garage band in town. He could play guitar, and he wasn't a half bad singer. He'd gotten overzealous. One performance, he threw off the jacket he'd taken to wearing to hide the wings, and then there they were. Everyone in attendance couldn't not stare. Sixteen feet of feathers. The music stopped, and everyone stared.

Jay panicked, and bolted. The only one who chased him was Julia. She was a pretty girl, one he'd caught himself admiring from afar sometimes. She waited tables at the diner in town.

His luck would have it though, that their families just didn't get along. He'd venture so far as to call it a feud. That didn't stop Julia though. They started seeing each other shortly after his big reveal. Jay had something to focus his attention on, and Julia was just perfect for him. She was kind, and even patient with his hang ups. It lasted a good amount of time. Six months. Six months of some pretty good days with the two of them. Then Julia's father found out.

The altercation was short lived. A bare chested young man pitted against the shotgun had no chance. Blood and screaming was the last thing that stood out in Jay's mind.

Julia's father left, satisfied with his deed. Julia lingered, distraught over the loss of Jay. A true Juliet and Romeo affair it was. With Jay more or less dead, as far as Julia could tell, she did the unthinkable. She dragged him into the river, and using the weight of his mostly lifeless body, she drowned herself.

While this could be the end of Jay's story, life hadn't finished dealing his hand. Coupled with his wings, Jay had a healing factor, that chose that moment to kick in, pulling him back from the brink of death, only to awaken at the bottom of the river. He wasn't alone. He panicked, grabbed Julia's body, and swam up, and to the bank of the river. She was dead. She was dead and it was because of him.

He was distraught, and after attempting the unthinkable in his grief, to no avail, he headed home, bringing her body with him.

For a while there, things were tense. The rift between the Guthrie and Cabot families grew wider, and some of the folks in town were afraid of mutants, Jay being no exception.

His mother knew that his brother had gone somewhere to get help, this Xavier's School, so she sent Jay there as well, against his wishes no less. She couldn't sit idly by and watch any of her babies be so troubled.

He didn't try to make many friends, but friendship found him none the less.

Laurie Collins was one of many who made an impression on him, and though at first they were nothing more than friends, and there were deeper feelings between Laurie and Jay's older brother Sam, as the years went on, Laurie found her way into the broody boys heart, and chipped away at the shell he'd erected to shield himself from further hurts.

Jay couldn't have been happier, and their relationship went slowly, of course, but Laurie was patient, and that was what Jay needed. Eventually they were married, much to the insistence of his dear mother, though Jay didn't object.

Mutant relations were rocky, though for a while, Jay was able to pursue some of his more deeper desires. Music. He released a lot of his stuff Indie, making a name for himself through venues like YouTube and other various internet sensations, and after a fashion, even set up his own small Record Label, calling it Wallflower Music in honor of Laurie.

He specifically reaches out to other Mutants in the world that are into music, helping them pursue their dream, offering them advice and support if he can, even assisting with recording. He's made a bit of a name for himself, but not enough to draw too much attention from the public. Wallflower Music is still rather underground, and he's doing what he can to keep it that way.

In 2027 Jay and Laurie had their first child, Lailah Guthrie. The couple fully expected that their child might be born with some potential for the X-Gene, but when the infant was born perfectly healthy, perfectly normal, save for the small set of downy white wings protruding from her back, they were pleasantly surprised. Jay's mutation had kicked in at puberty, but Lailah's came at birth. Jay was ecstatic. Lailah takes after her mother, blonde and blue eyed.

In 2029, two years after Lailah, the trio welcomed Lucas into the family, though unlike his sister, he bore no obvious signs of having the X-Gene. Either way, Jay doesn't mind one bit if Lucas grows up perfectly normal. Unlike his sister, he's taking after his father, with darker hair, and dark eyes. Jay's convinced Lucas' hair will eventually redden as his had as he got older.
