2006 New Year's Tournament!, Get ready to duke it out!

2006 NEW YEAR'S TOURNAMENT

As a special reward for dedicated and active members, the ToN will be holding a navi tournament! Participants must PM myself to enter the tourney with their player inventory. No changes may be made to your navi between submission and the end of the tournament. I will post qualified participants in a topic in the "Player Battles - Tournament" topic. Here's the format for navi submission via PM:

There are a few rules for submissions:

1) You MUST follow the layout above.
2) You MUST send the PM to me personally.
3) Your navi MUST already be on a team.
4) You MUST send your submission before the deadline.

Deadline for submissions is 6:00 PM (EST) January 4th, 2006.

I will then make rosters for the battles, depnding on how many members will be participating. You may have a "bye" in the first round. I will randomly assign matches and arenas. There will of course be prizes, and once I have an accurate count of participants and a roster, I can explain placement better. The tournamant will be one-round elimination style.

Matches
All matches will take place in one of the public arenas. I will draw up a roster which will show who is fighting who. Also, prior to each match, I will send notification PMs to members, stating their opponent, the arena for the scheduled battle, and the time for the match to begin. Topics within the arenas for the tournament will be made by me and ready for you to battle in. You must report to the arena at the scheduled time. I will cover time issues later.

Arenas
All tournament matches will take place within the public arenas. Like I said before, I will create the topic for your match ahead of time. In this tournament, the arena you fight in will affect battle. Each arena will have a special effect on the participants dueling inside it.

Forest Stadium - Navi recovers 5 HP per turn
City Stadium - Battlechips do extra 20 dmg
Desert Stadium - Status effect success rate halved
Ocean Stadium - Navi speed is reduced by 1

Delay of Match
All matches should begin at the appointed time. During matches, you have 20 minutes to take your turn after your opponent's turn. Should you not take your turn in time, you will automtically forfeit the match. You may, however, notify your opponent that you will be unable to continue the match until a maximum of 2 hours later. In this case, you must specify the time that you will return to resume the battle (within 2 hours). PM me if you have a specific issue.

Prizes
I'm sure that I could get people to fight just for the heck of it, but then it wouldn't be a tournament! So here are the prizes.

Battle Mechanics
Battles will operate the same way they always have. Please check Fayt's Battle Mechanics if you need a refresher.

Cheating
The admins, mods, and I will be looking over battles. If something doesn't look right, you will be disqualified. Other consequences may also occur.

Start Time
Round 1 Battles will take place at 4:00 PM (EST) on January 5th, 2006. Round 2 will occur as both navis are done with their respective Round 1 battles. Please realize this might be an all day event.

Final Comments
This tournament is designed to reward those members who are active on the ToN and be a fun and enjoyable event for all. However, it is also to attract new members to the site. So please, no bickering over judges decisions or losses. If this goes well, we may be able to have them more often. Remember that this is our game, and we get out of it what we put into it. Well, now that the site is done with updates, we now have time to do this tourney! You'll notice that the Battle topics I created have been deleted, in addition to the different stadiums now have effects on the battle. We the rules as before still apply. However, the new battlefield effects for the stadiums will not apply to this tourney. Matches will start tommorrow, January 18th at 4:30 PM (EST). It will be your responsibility to post your own inventories at the start of each battle, even though I will make the topic. Here is the roster for the Tourney. Good luck!

Snap, i didn't notice the turney. Guess i'll have to be rooting fo Opti and Silver, takin' into account we're on the samw team :P .

I will wait one day for you to start our match, but if you are unable to start then you will be taken out of the tourney and your spot will be open to the first member who requests the spot. If nobody takes you're navi's place, then your opponent (me) wins by default.
