I've got the basics down (sorta) but I think rather than just continuing to read guides I should try to practice it more to cement things in my head and stuff.

Think I should work on making a "test game" to learn better how to put stuff together into a presentable game, or should I just read guides/tutorials untill my head explodes? >.>

I say make a test game. Best way to learn is to do it. If you have any trouble, just check out the Developer Forums. That's what i'm doing right now.
