An inmate trusty working as a janitor at a Sheriff's Office building in Slidell left the building overnight and hasn't returned since. Glen Ladner, 47, is believed to be in the Mississippi Gulf Coast area. Ladner was visited Sunday by two friends from Mississippi, his home state. He was last seen just before dark at the Sheriff's Office Transitional Work Program at 141 Production Drive in Slidell but was missing by the 11 p.m. head count, authorities said. The Sheriff's Office believes one of his Mississippi visitors picked him up nearby and the two might be traveling together near Biloxi or Gulfport. Ladner is not considered dangerous, the Sheriff's Office said. He has no violent criminal record and was serving time on drug violations. He pleaded guilty last month to operating a meth lab and possession of methamphetamine. He was sentenced to nine years at hard labor. Anyone with knowledge of Ladner's whereabouts is asked to call 911. The Sheriff's Office is working the case in conjunction with Mississippi authorities http://www.nola.com/crime/index.ssf/2012/0...y_walks_of.html Attached Image (Click thumbnail to expand) ![]() |

Missing inmate worker back in custody
The Associated Press SLIDELL, La. -- An inmate trusty who walked off a Slidell job site has been recaptured and is back in custody. St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Jack Strain says 42-year-old Glen Ladner was found Tuesday at a residence in Long Beach, Miss., with the help of the Harrison County Sheriff's Office, Gulfport Police Department and the U.S. Marshal's Service. Strain says Ladner was arrested without incident about 3:30 p.m. and now will face one count of simple escape. And, Strain says, Ladner will no longer qualify for assignment as an inmate worker outside the jail. Ladner, who was serving a nine-year sentence for drug violations, had worked as a janitor in the sheriff's office transitional work program. He fled just before dark Sunday.
