No they don't wanna understand.
Maiyah is a small, nimble creature. Standing at a compact 5'2", Maiyah weighs a mere 134 lbs. She's proportionate for her size, and has a narrow waist, slender limbs and a lightly muscular build. Maiyah's skin tone is a light cream color, usually, but most often she's found with a tan, a light tan that's fading from not having been under the direct light of the sun for quite a while. At the top of her head, she has a mess of deep red hair, crowning her smoothly shaped face. Her eyes are a dim emerald green, and over her cheeks is a small grouping of freckles.
Maiyah's clothes change on occasion, but she generally keeps the same outfit for relatively normal runs. That outfit consists of a brown tank-top, faded blue-wash jeans, black leather shin-high boots, brown leather fingerless gloves, and a dark forest green cargo jacket, often worn with the sleeves rolled up to her elbows. Maiyah also will often have a black bandanna tied around her neck, and sunglasses to cover her eyes. She wears a belt around her waist, often with the Phurba Dagger (this item explained in her History) tucked in a custom-made leather sheath within said belt on her side. It's not rare to find her with bruises, scrapes and cuts along her arms and legs, as well as bandages to cover up deeper injuries. Under her jacket, Maiyah has a back holster wrapped around her torso to hold her pistol and assault rifle. She always has her pistol on her, but her assault rifle usually stays at home.
Maiyah's other outfits generally range that of a young woman. When she's not out scaling the world's ruins for treasures and stealing from museums and corporate factions, Maiyah is at home doing paperwork in her pajamas. When going out, she tends to wear fairly nice designer clothes, leggings, jeggings, silk shirts, scarves, whatever suits her for the day. When going out however, she makes it a point to cover up her hair and her eyes to keep from being solidly identified.Special Traits/Marks:
They just shake and try toPersonality:
break whatever peace I may find.
Maiyah is difficult to get to know. Being what she is, she generally keeps no contact with anyone unless they're clients or allied contacts. She mostly keeps to herself, prioritizing anonymity over anything that has anything to do with making friends. To make friends is to breed mistrust, and possible moles, something that Maiyah doesn't particularly need. The only people that Maiyah bothers dealing with are cops, other thieves and clients, violently or otherwise.
It's very rare, perhaps even impossible, for someone to get close to her. However, should it happen, Maiyah is likely to be playful and energetic with said friends. She's likely to include them in on heists and adventures into ruins, despite the risk that they could become moles or liabilities. Social activities such as drinking however, would be pretty common. If she actually had friends. It's very likely however that if one was to somehow not be pushed away by Maiyah, they would be used for her own benefit. If they had traits or abilities that were handy in her line of work, she would trick them into coming along with her on her adventures to treasure hunt, but more than likely, if it benefits her, would double cross and betray them in the end.
Maiyah also has a bit of a rage streak, though it doesn't take just any insult to set her off. She'll get pissed like a normal person, but strike her at the right angle and she'll lose her shit, either punching like a maniac at whoever set her off if she doesn't have her firearms. Not that she's overly easy to enrage. Maiyah has a bad attitude when it comes to people she doesn't like--mainly cops and other thieves--and she has no qualms over killing a troublemaker in cold blood (again, cops, other thieves, or even clients that doublecross her.)Weaknesses:
- Bitch - Maiyah is, simply put, a bitch to whoever warrants that side of her. This can cause her to not make many friends. She usually puts up a bitch act to keep people away from her to dash the possibility of an accomplice or mole.
- Deception - She's a liar. And a thief. And she's good at both. She'll deceive anyone if she has to to get what she wants. Anyone.
- Army of One - Because of her bitchiness and lying ass, Maiyah fights alone. This could be bad because if she died or was injured, then she'd be shit out of luck without help.
- Rage - If pissed off the right way, Maiyah can lose her cool with anyone. While she doesn't exactly scream at someone, she can and will throw punches and kicks. She might yell at them, but not without tossing her fists around like a maniac.
- Double-Crosser - Maiyah will at some point double cross others that she would, for whatever godforsaken reason, allow to work with her. If it's necessary (in her mind that is) then she will, but if she has to go out of her way to double cross someone, then she won't. Only if it makes things easier for her.
- Two Way Street - Maiyah can be bribed by anyone for the right price. She can either ruin-lift for museum curators for lots of money, or evil rich men that have plans to overthrow the planet for even more money. She has potential to bring great good to archeologists, or great woe to the world.

Maiyah was born in West City to her mother Carolyne, a young seamstress who owned her own dress shop, and Drake, one of the most known notorious professional thieves. Growing up, Maiyah was daddy's little girl. She went to school thanks to the money they brought home, but as her father's daughter, Maiyah wanted to follow in Drake's footsteps and become a thief. Drake often took Maiyah with him to museums, and as Maiyah grew older, she would get caught by police for petty thievery from local fruit bazaars.
Maiyah's thieving was not unlike her father's when he was her age, but worry for his daughter's safety pushed Drake to try to deter her away from similar escapades. Maiyah begrudgingly obeyed her father, simply keeping to her schoolwork and going to museums on her own. However, it wasn't long before, as a teenager, Maiyah began to involve herself in the practice of thievery once more, against the wishes of her parents, and without their prior knowledge. Maiyah was careful not to be caught, starting small with bazaar stands and practicing a sleight of hand before she began to pickpocket off the street.
While in her high school years, Maiyah took to archaeology, geography and geological studies. After graduating high school, she went straight to college, signing up for expeditions and digs like her life depended on it. When she was 20 years old in her third year of college, Maiyah finally got the break she was hoping for, and went to an unnamed island three thousand miles southwest of the mainland. While students went separately to dig, Maiyah delved deep within a different sector of ruins.
Using her skills she learned growing up and from watching her father, Maiyah snuck into the restricted corridors of the ancient ruins, actively in search of treasure. However, it wasn't long until she was caught by a group of bandits, who were out for the same thing. With guns and knives, they went at her, and Maiyah rushed out of the ruins, taking bullets to her arms, legs and sides. She rushed back to her classmates and instructor, warning them frantically of the bandits, her injuries providing proof. The group evacuated and authorities were called to deal with the bandits. Maiyah was taken to the hospital in West City, where she was confronted by Drake.
She confessed to having wandered off in search of treasure, and Drake, at a loss, decided to take his daughter with him on an expedition for treasure, arming her with the knowledge of the world of Professional Thievery and guns. During the adventure, Maiyah and Drake found a small coffer chest full of gold coins and a necklace. However, they were cut off by a group of rival thieves. Both of them made it out, but not unscathed. While they managed to kill off the group of thieves, they both sustained bullet and knife wounds. While Maiyah was sure to make it, Drake however couldn't go on and died in her arms from his injuries.
Unable to simply leave her father's body, Maiyah took Drake to the sacred grounds of the ruins they had just pillaged and buried him there. She then returned home with the bounty, giving the gold and the necklace to her mother. It was then that Maiyah, scarred and forever changed by her father's death, contemplated quitting thieving and treasure hunting altogether. While Carolyne would rather Maiyah find a new career path anyway, she urged her daughter to carry on her father's work as a way to remember him and keep him close.
Maiyah gave it some thought as she grieved, until one day she traveled back to his grave site. She stayed a few nights there, until she felt the presence of her father around her. She had a dream, a vision of uncovering a great many secrets and treasures, with her father's wisdom, knowledge, skill and prowess guiding her. The next day, she further into the ruins, armed and ready for any other thieves that were lurking inside. Shooting down any thief inside, Maiyah scoured the ancient ruins, unlocking ancient mechanisms and uncovering hidden rooms. In one of the dead chambers, Maiyah uncovered a small coffer. She shot it open with her pistol, and laying inside was a deep blue phurba dagger, the hilt a deep gold and gem-encrusted.
Maiyah took the dagger as remembrance of her father and fled the ruins. Cold, dirty and worn, Maiyah went back home after saying a final goodbye to her father, and assumed work as a professional thief, dropping out of college and carrying on her father's work, keeping the phurba dagger close to her heart.
