 Damned for all time, CJ

[Sorry if this reads like a six year old wrote it Caz, my brain is not on today]

The days dragged locked up inside, but it was nothing he didn't deserve. In fact the man didn't think his sentence carried quite the necessary weight, the crimes he had committed were unforgivable and he was quite ready for the inevitable damnation he faced upon death. Leaning against a wall he watched the other inmates, many of which were very at home behind bars. They had formed their own gangs, some forming groups within the gangs themselves. From experience he could pick out hardened cons, from those who were simply playing the role. The ones who stood out most for him however were the weak, the inexperienced and the naïve. Manfried was over run with them.

Folding his arms across his chest the convict kept his eyes open for those he had been told he would encounter, and those he needed to stay close to. His purpose was to give information to the FBI, and in a way it felt like the worst of all his crimes. However, in the same vain it acted as the beginnings of his redemption. While he hadn't actually given himself up in order to bring his people to their knees, it had seemed like some kind of sign when he'd been approached out of the blue.

Today he had a real purpose for waking from an unforgiving dream, and exiting his cell. A reason for wandering the halls and passing the mundane hours. Due to his position with the Aryan Brotherhood, higher even than Damon Knight himself, and more of a legend to boot. He was privy to all prison gossip; from inmates and guards alike. It was due to this he sought out the undercover FBI agent CJ.

Having left his place of vigil and headed into the library he found the man, and ensuring the pair were as alone as the prison allowed; alone enough that it would not effect Carver or CJ's images negatively, he addressed the CO. "I want to talk to you about Damon." The man had a presence about him that in his youth, and before his revelation might have put fear into a man's soul. Now, he had a calm and gentle air. His voice was soft, and his expression neutral. In many ways it made him more intimidating, knowing he could turn the more aggressive side of his personality on at will. "As I'm sure you're aware from my file I'm somewhat responsible for who he is, and normally I'd allow you to deal with these things as you see fit, but the man is my nephew and that makes his wellbeing my concern." The man's eyes never wavered, his expression and tone never changing. "Since I arrived here, I've been treated as some sort of celebrity." A sigh escaped him. "It didn't take long before I heard about what he attempted to do to you." The man bowed his head slightly, an apologetic motion. He couldn't help feeling slightly responsible for Damon's behaviour and resenting the joy his 'brothers' had taken in telling him what had been planned.

His expression grew slightly more grave as he moved on to what he had actually come here for. "By the same token I heard what it was you planned for revenge. I understand why you'd seek to even the score, but you do realise it won't end there." Carver unfolded his arms and stepped forward from the wall he'd been leaning on. "It's difficult to hurt Damon, he doesn't have the capacity to care for others. You on the other hand do, and it won't take him long to find out who it is you love." Carver shook his head lightly. "Damon is my responsibility, let me punish him."

CJ had come to the library to break it to Nicole that Brad was on the mend and would shortly be returning to Manfried. As expected, she hadn’t taken the news at all well and little wonder. CJ could foresee a shitstorm of biblical proportions erupting if Brad’s recollection of events differed from the half-assed lie Nicole and Taylor Nash were still doggedly clinging to. Even more worrying to CJ was Jake Sanderson's compliance in the matter. He didn't believe for a single minute Sanderson was buying the story but he had yet to figure out why the slimeball was apparently happy to go along with it.

Having said what he’d come to say he was halfway to the door when he was approached by Jericho Carver, the sole other occupant of the room who'd been skulking between the stacks waiting to speak with him. CJ acknowledged him with a light sigh of irritation having absolutely no desire to discuss Damon Knight with anyone let alone the man's uncle.

“I’m listening.” he said with a perfunctory nod, signaling this would be a brief conversation as he had other things to be getting on with.

CJ was of course well aware who Carver was but the Aryan Brotherhood wasn’t his remit. God knows he had enough on his plate trying to keep the juvie kids out of harm’s way whilst gathering the never-ending tide of evidence on inmate abuse to concern himself with the hornet’s nest Knight and his band of thugs represented. As a classified informant Carver was answerable to CJ’s partner Brian Hastings and therefore her problem, not his.

Carver, if the intel in his file was to be believed, had evidently seen the light and renounced his white supremacist ways to follow Jesus or some such shit. To say CJ was skeptical was an understatement. Finding God and turning state’s evidence was an all too convenient way of saving one’s ass from death row. If that was Carver’s game however CJ had give credit where it was due, the man was a consummate actor. Too full of himself by far but that was a trait that ran in the family it would seem. The man prattled on like some wise oracle and CJ interrupted him with a snort of derision.

“You’d allow me to deal with things as you see fit? How very gracious of you.” Quirking a brow at him CJ's impatience broke the surface. “Just get to the point, I don’t have all day.”

Carver’s expression became graver as he went on and CJ had a hard time to keep from rolling his eyes at the man’s high opinion of himself. Treated like a celebrity? Only by mindless cretins indoctrinated with vile AB propaganda CJ thought to himself disparagingly. Finally the man got to the point and CJ stared back at him clearly unimpressed.

“Don’t be so presumptuous. You don’t know a thing about me." he snapped testily, "Knight’s forthcoming date with the KF isn’t just about evening the score. There’s a lot more to it than that, none of which is any of your business but your concern has been duly noted.”

Blowing out a sigh, CJ glanced at his watch. “If that’s all, I have somewhere else I need to be.”
