Welcome to Masquerade, a Harry Potter-based RPG that takes place in 2019, a generation after the books. With no real central authority at Hogwarts, two families have risen to power; Malfoy and Potter. Vying for power against both each other and the mysterious Third Party, the students have to make a choice. Where do their loyalties lie?
We invite you to partake in this 'Mafia' inspired site, and become a fellow student at Hogwarts. Don't hesitate to leave a message in the chatbox! |

I bet you’re a bit confused over the choices of affiliation we have. The list goes something like this:Potter Malfoy Third Party The Guild Double Agents Here’s the official topic that clarifies everything. If you have any further questions that aren’t answered here, please pm Jordan Potter.
THIRD PARTY;;
An option for the truly pickled, or otherwise rebellious, characters. Let's say a child of some truly odious couple, say:Stuart Avery and Garnet Mulciber
[M] ___ Avery [unknown; 7th year] becomes a Gryffindor, but the boy's been raised to despise the Potters. What should he do? Sure, he could be a double-agent, but that's so Snape like. I mean, the poor guy could have actual Gryffindor friends, and doesn't want to hurt them. So, options, options.. how about the Third Party? Besides, it gives a similarity between Malfoy and Potter: they both hate the group, as any self-respecting, power-hungry group would.
Let's say you, as the roleplayer, decide to play a character in a neutral house (Hufflepuff, or Ravenclaw). I want to make it clear that you simply cannot decide to join the third party, only because your character is neutral. Come on, I want to see you guys sweat over the decision! The Third party, in other words, is highly exclusive, underground, and secretive. All members should share a common problem; a very sticky situation in which they don't want to deceive, or take part in, either families. Some may love both sides -- but most will hate the two families. I see the Third Party created with intention of running away from the corruption of both sides; the pureblood Slytherins, the progressively arrogant Gryffindors. In any event, the Third Party, to most, is a rumor, not a confirmed fact.
THE GUILD;;
This isn’t so much a family or (frankly) your insurance company, keeping you safe from the dealers and gamblers of today’s Hogwarts. That’s because, if you’re a member of the Guild, you’re most likely part of the dangerous crowd. Maybe you need the extra money, so you’re off selling drugs as a sort of part-time job. Perhaps it’s in your business to sell your hand-crafted prankster items, or market your recently-acquired test score answers. Whatever the reason, if it’s business, whether good or bad, it’s The Guild. They lend money and possessions more willingly than the Families, and aren’t as caught up into the emotional, sensitive side of life; cold-hard cash catches their attention, though. People come to them if they’re in dire need of a few bucks to buy their newest Ball gown; or perhaps you’d like to dig up some dirt on the Families. Most rumors start from the Guild, afterall.
It is possible to be part of a Family and a Guild, at the same time.
