One of the men reached down to grab the syringe, clearly ready to use it on this feline 'savior'. Before he could, however, Wolverine reached around the man, pulled the syringe from his hand, and jabbed it into his neck. The man stared at him wide eyed before collapsing to the ground, drifting off to sleep. Normally Wolverine wouldn't just inject someone with a random syringe in a fight, but he had smelled that it was a sedative before he even grabbed it, and it seemed like the easiest (and funniest) way to handle him.
Wolverine cocked his head to the side, having heard the other man pick something heavy up off of the ground. He clenched his left hand into a fist, popping his claws, and swinging them out towards the man. His claws tore through what turned out to be a piece of 2x4 the man had planned to use as a weapon, though that plan didn't work out so well. As the pieces of wood clattered to the ground, the man could only stare in horror at the man snarling in front of him. He dropped what remained of the 'weapon', and simply winced, waiting for the final blow to come. "Not so lucky, kid." Wolverine growled with a smirk, grabbing him by the front of the shirt, and tossing him rather effortlessly to the ground, right at Black Cat's feet. "We need you awake to answer some questions, and they won't be fun." He walked over to the man while he was still on the ground, and rested his foot on the man's back. He didn't have to push down on the man, instead letting the weight of his adamantium laced skeleton rest on him, easily pinning him in place. "Not used to the hero stuff, I take it." Wolverine said to Black Cat, smirking a bit. "Not as easy as rippin' off some rich old fart, huh?" he asked jokingly. He knew who she was; he had read the headlines about the 'Black Cat Thief', and if she wasn't supposed to be 'Black Cat', she might want to consider a costume change. "So what brings you down here? Never pegged ya for the 'rescuin' damsels' type." Wolverine asked her casually, as if he wasn't pinning a grown man to the ground with a single foot. |

"People seem to be callin' me Wolverine, guess it's 'cause of my nasty disposition." Wolverine smirked at the woman in the catsuit, seeing that she had a bit of a snarkiness to her. He liked that, even if her motives were unclear to him at the moment. Didn't matter, though, if she had anything against the people who were behind all of these disappearances, then she was on his side. He felt the man weakly try to pull himself out from under Wolverine's boot, but it was futile. Though he had to admire his persistence in the matter, some how thinking he could escape roughly a couple hundred pounds of metal resting on his back.
"Thanks for the offer, but you're not the only one with questions for this douche bag. In the past month alone there have been about three disappearances, all of them involve people leaving one place, and never arrivin' at their destination. Two of those three people turned up dead in alleys, their bodies showin' signs of 'scientific' tamperin', includin' a thin needle mark in the sides of their necks. Roughly the gauge of the needle stickin' out of that poor 'sods' neck, over there." Wolverine told her, nodding his head towards the thug laying unconscious on the ground nearby. This whole thing stank, a very familiar stink that struck a very particular chord for Wolverine. He knew the horrors of forced experimentation all too well; how else do people think he got an indestructible metallic alloy bonded with his skeleton? Hint; it wasn't natural. So to hear that innocent people were possibly being snatched up off of the streets, screwed with, and tossed out like junk when things didn't go as planned clearly didn't sit well with the hero. "I'm perfectly fine sharin' this info with you; if you want to figure out what's happenin' to these people as much as I do, then I wouldn't mind the help. But I ain't leaving this one, not after the stuff I've found." Wolverine told her honestly, having nothing to hide from Black Cat, as far as this situation goes. "If you wanna ask the first question, be my guest; I think he's already startin' to bruise." Wolverine smirked, even as the man beneath him looked absolutely horrified. |

Wolverine watched Black Cat do her thing; a little different than his approach, though a very similar threat to sensitive places was thrown in. He couldn't help but smirk; he liked this kid, even if she had a bad habit for taking things that weren't her's. She knocked the guy out before he had the chance to ask any of his own questions, though he got all the answers he needed. Thanks to his keen sense of hearing, he got all he needed when she interrogated the man. He smirked at her, finally taking his foot of of the man to walk past her.
"I've got it covered. Got reputation to keep, can't be seen ridin' around in stolen cars." Wolverine told her. He stepped out onto the sidewalk just outside of the alley, ignoring the stares he received from random civvies passing him on the street. He quickly moved over to a sleek, black Yamaha V-Max parked nearby. He threw his leg over it and started it up, the engine roaring to life. Admittedly, this bad boy was the main reason why Logan's co-workers always saw him walking from place to place. This thing had cost him a pretty penny; got it used in some ads, but poured most of his cash into upgrading it with 'nifty' new features. Needless to say, worth every penny. Wolverine pulled the bike up to the entrance of the alley, revving the engine to get her attention. It was quite a sight, seeing him sitting on this beast of a bike. Even if the color didn't quite match his yellow suit, the bike itself fit him like a 'glove'. He still wondered what her stake in this was; she had basically insinuated that she was 'bored' and looking for something else to do when she attempted to save the woman's life. Wolverine didn't buy that for a second, and not just because he was a human lie detector. He also noticed the way she had touched her neck when he mentioned the needle. He wondered...but it didn't matter. Her motives were her own, and he of all people should know to respect the secretes of those that truly wanted them to remain secret. "Good enough?" Wolverine asked her, nodding for her to hop on. Though his work on the 'case' had only started not that long ago, there was a lot of evidence pointing to other missing persons cases being linked to these same people. If that was true, then there had been plenty more people to experience rather unfortunate, tragic ends in the name of some perverted idea of science. He wanted this over with, the sooner the better, so that people didn't have to worry about ending up like the two bodies he saw. "Ready to punch some nerds in the junk?" he asked her with a wicked smirk, obviously enjoying the idea of 'physical assault' far more than he probably should. |

Wolverine looked up as the door opened, standing over three unconscious guards. While Black Cat was sauntering about in the ventilation system, he was busy discreetly taking down some guards that had happened upon his position. He shoved one of the men through the door, before dragging the other two in by their arms. He shoved all of them into a corner, glancing over at Black Cat with a smirk.
"Ditto." he retorted. Wolverine was all for stealth, and he was very good at it. It was just that his definition of stealth had a way of being different than other people's. Regardless, they were inside, and that meant that it was time to get moving. He took point, able to sniff out potential obstacles, and clearly very well trained in these sorts of things. Wolverine gestured for Cat to stop, and he peaked around a corner to see a guard coming their way. He lowered his head, listening to the foot steps draw closer, his eyes closed as he counted the paces. Closer, and closer, until... Wolverine reached out, grabbed the barrel of the guard's rifle while he still held it, swung him around, and slammed him head first into the wall between himself and Black Cat. The guard slumped to the ground immediately, not even having time to 'yelp' before being knocked into submission. Wolverine picked up the rifle, expertly dismantling it and setting the pieces down by the unconscious guard. He then gestured for Black Cat to follow, before moving around the corner. They were clearly at the right place, at least, considering the kind of firepower and armor these 'guards' had. Certainly had something to hide, though knowing this town, it could be a completely different secret facility performing illegal activities that require armed mercs for guards. As they moved through the halls, they came upon a pair of double doors. He quietly moved up to one of the doors, peaking through one of the small, round windows on it. One the other side, were two guards, both standing on opposite sides of another, larger door. This was apparently the only way into that part of the facility, and that meant taking out the guards. "I got the one on the right." Wolverine told her. He began to count down from five with his fingers. Once only his fist remained, he slammed his shoulder into the right door, and charged up to the guard on the right. He grabbed onto the rifle, shoving it forward to slam into the guard's face, before using it as leverage to flip the man over onto his back. Wolverine quickly dropped to his knee, and slammed his forearm into the guard's head, knocking him out cold. He glanced over his shoulder, seeing that Cat was finished taking care of her target, as well. Wolverine faced the rather large and imposing door, seeing that they apparently needed some kind of key to get in. "Screw that." Wolverine snarled, claws popping out of his right fist, which he quickly stabbed into the lock mechanism of the door. There was a large spark, and the door slowly slid open. "...skeleton key." he muttered, before the claws popped back into his forearm. The duo entered the new hallway, which was lined with several empty rooms. Each room seemed to have a bed and hospital equipment, even though there didn't appear to be anyone in any of the rooms. That is, until they reached the last door on the right, which was actually closed, unlike all of the other, open rooms. There was a sign on the door, which simply read 'Subject: 149'. Wolverine glanced over at Black Cat, shrugged, and 'unlocked' the door. The room was pitch black, though the lights flashed on the moment Wolverine stepped into the room. Straight ahead, was yet another bed, along with hospital equipment, just like all the other rooms. However, this bed wasn't vacant; apparently asleep in the bed, was a young man, roughly in his early twenties, black hair, chin and mouth covered with thick stubble, clearly deprived of a razor for a little while. The man was out cold, and his arms were apparently strapped to the bed, though judging by the size of the muscles on the man's arms, Wolverine had to wonder just how much use they would be if he was actually conscious. "....guess this is the only bastard lucky enough to survive the 'tests'." Wolverine guessed, distinctly smelling something 'off' about him. He walked over to the man, looking him over. He wasn't just asleep, he was in a heavily sedated state. He could smell the sedatives in one of the IVs attached to his arm, the dose high enough to suggest that it would take a lot to knock him out, and keep him out for extended periods of time. "They've basically got him in a coma, makin' sure he doesn't wake up before they want him awake." Wolverine grunted, before carefully pulling the IV from the man's arm. "Oops..." he said with a smirk. "Alright, it's probably gonna take him a bit to wake up. I'm going to try and figure out the best way to get this guy out of here. If you're looking for something specific, I'd try one of the other two rooms. I need to go get somethin'..." And with that, Wolverine left the room, heading back the way they had come from. |

Wolverine knew it wouldn't be long before the 'troops' would be mobilizing, if they weren't already. That meant time was most likely short, and they would need to get what they need and get the hell out. But now it wasn't as simple as wreaking things and waltzing out of the inferno they left in their path; they had a survivor tagging along. An ass naked one, at that, and for his own decency and Wolverine's comfort, the first thing on the list was to get the unknown man some pants. He moved out of the hallway, back to the entrance of what appeared to be the 'testing' facility. He looked over the two unconscious guards, gauging their sizes compared to the man in the other room. He chose the one that seemed to be the closest build and went to the unpleasant business of stripping him. The kid in the other room didn't need anything fancy, just pants and maybe a shirt, just enough to keep his decency. He cuts the kevlar armor off of the guard with his claws, making his access to his shirt easier. After collecting that, he moved to the pants, and pulled them off quickly. "...Commando? Not the wisest choice, kid." Wolverine muttered, pulling the pants all the way off. He started to walk away, before using his foot to roll the mostly naked guard over onto his chest. "....yeah....really not smart. Just tell them the floor was cold." He made his way back to the room with Black Cat and their unknown friend, and was glad to see that she had already finished with her fact finding mission. He dropped the clothes onto the bed beside the unconscious man, quickly looking him over. "Hope you found some good stuff, we'll need whatever we can get to bring these assholes down." Wolverine commented. "Kid's still out of it, but we gotta get him up quick. We ain't gonna have much time before this place get's flooded with more guards." Black Cat looked at Wolverine with a raised eyebrow. She didn't respond to him but retrained her gaze on the naked, unconscious fellow. Without another moments hesitation, she struck him hard against the cheek and said, "Wake up!" Wolverine just watched her, his raised eyebrow hidden by the cowl he wore. "Uh...pretty sure that ain't gonna work, darlin'. Probably give him a helluva headache when he wakes up, though." he stated with a smirk, sniffing around for anything that could help. It was a lab setting, it wasn't impossible to believe there could be an adrenaline shot around there somewhere. Perhaps Wolverine had a point. Pushing her streaming hair behind both ears, she leaned in and lightly brushed her lips against the man's mouth. She broke the chaste kiss and shrugged her shoulders. "Guess it only works when a man does it." She glanced at the vigilante. "...Try hittin' him again." Just then, the man on the bed began to move, clinching his eyes closed tighter, as he started to regain consciousness "Thank god...." Wolverine muttered, quickly moving to undo the man's restraints. "You alright, kid?" The young man finally started to open his eyes as his hand was freed, which almost instantly moved to rub his now sore face. "The...hell....?" the man muttered in a groggy tone, apparently still feeling the 'love tap' Black Cat gave him. "No time to explain, kid. Right now we just need to get you dressed and out of here....do ya even know where ya are?" Wolverine asked as he helped him. "...honestly I had hoped I'd wake up in my bed and all this would have been a dream. Guess I'm not that lucky." the man stated, glancing over to notice Black Cat nearby, groaning in irritation. "...also not lucky enough to have pants on when one of my rescuers is a lady." "Well, I got ya covered there, at least." Wolverine told him, trying his best to keep him from being completely visible to Black Cat as he helped the dazed man into the procured pants. "What's your name?" "...Ben...Ben Reilly." he replied, pulling the black tee shirt on over his head. He was about to say something else, when suddenly all of the alarms began to sound. Wolverine turned sharply, already hearing the sounds of quite a few people moving around the base. Ben tried to stand up, but nearly stumbled to the floor doing so. Wolverine helped to stabilize him, realizing he wasn't going to be moving very well on his own just yet. "Alright, time to start movin'. We go back out the way we came, if we run into any more goons we take care of 'em." Wolverine told Black Cat, then looking over at Ben. "You hide in a corner or somethin' if that happens. I don't know what they did to ya, but you'd probably just get yourself killed if you tried to focus on anything other than stayin' awake. Let's go." Wolverine threw Ben's arm over his shoulders, and started walking with him out of the room, ready to be done with this place. |
