Since he seems to be in the news a lot. Lets make this the official "Bret Farve" thread.

QUOTE
Citing an NFL executive with "close ties to clubs in the NFC North," the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that the Packers called the Vikings on Friday to let them know Brett Favre is available in a trade.
You knew this wasn't the end. The Journal-Sentinel believes Favre's arrival at camp is just the first step towards a trade. "They’ve kind of said through one of their guys that if Favre did report they would potentially trade him within the division," the unnamed executive says. Talks between the Vikes and Green Bay aren't substantive yet, though, and the executive doesn't think Minnesota would give up more than a fourth- or fifth-round pick. Still, reports like this aren't going away until Favre is in another uniform or named the starter.

It's "Favre"

Crazy spelling, huh?

Trading a pick for a high 30 something year old QB prone to interceptions moving to the AFC and not becoming better than the top 5 teams in the league maybe, fighting for the last wildcard spot. Favre will win you plenty of games but will lose you important ones singe handedly, elite QBs don'td o that.

Good trade

Good trade

Chad Pennington is the Johnny Damon of baseball (arm-strength wise)

If Favre doesn't succeed, than we give up a 3rd or 4th rd pick. If he does succeed greatly, than we do good (possibly enough for the playoffs) and all we give up is a 2nd rd pick.

Chad Pennington and Brett Favre are complete opposites, Chad can throw the little pussy 5 yard out and make good decisions. He's not going to win you a superbowl but neither will Favre. You guys are better but not a superbowl contender and does it really matter if you lose in round 1 compared to not making the playoffs. Giving up a 2nd rounder is huge, you got one of the best 3-4 linebackers in football in David Harris with a 2nd rounder.

Farve isn't really the gunslinger he use to be, his arm strength has definitely declined, but he's still an amazing guy to have on your team. Farve's leadership and attitude is going to be great for the Jets. Okay, the Jets aren't exactly your super bowl favorites, but neither were the Giants. A lot of you underestimate the Jets because of a 4-12 season, but they've made a lot of good offseason moves and will be a force to be reckon with. Now with one of the best O-Lines in the game and a great veteran presence in Farve, the Jets are going to make a very good run this year.

And the draft is always a toss-up, Farve is a sure thing.

The Giants were the prototypical underdog Superbowl team. Quarterback that didn't make mistakes and amazing defensive line. Brett Favre can't go through a playoff run without losing a game he hasn't since 1996 and he's not going to do it for the 2nd time over a decade later.

btw, I hope you know the story of the 1991 draft. The Jets wanted Favre and was 1 pick away from him, except Atlanta got him first. The Jets didn't have a 1st rd pick at all.
