Armored Core games have always had a place in my heart.

I remember once having a "Playstation Underground Demo Disc", that was jam-packed with demo's of games. One of them was Armored Core.

Armored Core was so incredible! Combine different pieces to make a robot mechwarrior as tall as a fucking HOUSE! The vast ammount of different pieces and combinations allowed for near infinite combinations. Like... the four different types of legs, for example...

Bipedial: Standard legs. Work like human legs.
Reverse-Jointed: Remember the AT-ST from Star Wars? (The "Chicken Walker" ). That's what these pieces are like.
Spider: This set has four legs that stick out in different directions.
Tank: Imagine having a tank, where the turret becomes a robot torso with arms, and a head, with shitloads of weapons; yeah.

Armored Core games all have one basic principle; You are a mercenary, in a giant fucking robot, taking missions from companies, which gives you an excuse to kill people in other giant fucking robots.

GRAPHICS: 10/10
Jawdropping! Really! Everything looks as it should, and alot of times I actually feel like I could be in the world! I havent found any real flaws in this feature; none what-so-ever!

STORY: 10/10

The world is pretty much fucked because the planet's surface is uninhabitable. If they said why, I cant remember it; but now, half of humanity lives on floating platforms 7,000 feet in the air called 'Cradles'. Down on the planet's surface, Armored Cores wage war over the economy of the world. It's a barren wasteland, which is Epic. After the initial monolouge, you get asked to pick an affiliation; there's four choices. I dont know the differences yet, so I just went with the first choice; which turned out to be America. Go figure =p

AUDIO: 8/10

Just like the graphics, the audio is everything it should be. All the sound effects are perfect, and voice clips are awesome. There's nothing like hearing people scream in fear as you approach, since your mech is so much more advanced. While the music is rockin' and fitting to the specific scene, I deducted 2 points because they arent songs that will be sticking with me anytime soon. It's more ambient than anything.

REALISM: 10/10

If it's supposed to explode, it does. If it's supposed to light up a room, it does. If it's supposed to do a task, it does it. They have effects for EVERYTHING. In a water mission, I charged up my Over Boost, and released it, sending a propulsion shockwave behind me. It went into the water, and threw the water into the air, which hit a flying mech, throwing it into a wall, off the wall, and into a battleship. The mech and the battleship fucking exploded, and the wall collapsed where the mech impacted. Fucking incredible.

ROBOT CUSTOMIZATION: 10/10
Holy FUCK marbles, if I could rate this higher, I would <3 Being able to cutsom paint any piece (There's atleast 40 different pieces.) any way you want, and you can attach emblems, too; makes this customization legendary. I -LOVE- customization! The more you can customize, the more I'll play a game even if I dont like it!

FINAL RATING: 94% Great!
You know what? Scratch that.
FINAL RATING: 100%

What about this game gives it's 6% back...?

The difficulty.
Previous Armored Core games were absurdly difficult, pitting you against one of th emost difficult mechs in the game IN YOUR FIRST MISSION, when you have nothing but basic equipment. They're actually making it like a game; and not a tool of suicide-inducing anger.

This game is love <3
